The way its written it seems like elf/dwarf characters will be at this conclave alone, where as the qunari/human characters will be there with friends or family. I guess that means the beginning of the game is potentially going to be a lot more tragic for some characters.

I don't know if anybody caught this, but...
Dwarven Mage
Living in close proximity to lyrium for so long, the dwarves have developed a natural immunity to magic. The downside is that this exposure also makes it impossible for dwarves to wield magic. Dwarves who live on the surface will lose their protective immunity over time. Despite this, no known dwarf, surface or otherwise, has managed to wield magic.

It's cool that the human mage Inquisitor was seeking peace between templars and mages. It sounds like they were quite loyal to the Circle system.
I think you could be against the circle system and still want peace.

Who is to say that the (Tal) Vashoth do not have their own unique culture?
From the DA wiki:
The Tal-Vashoth are not a single group.[1] Therefore they are not a resistance effort, there is no organized Tal-Vashoth culture, nor can they be said to have any collective goals.[1] Just how much an average Tal-Vashoth has abandoned their upbringing in their heart depends on the individual.[2] A Tal-Vashoth may choose his or her name arbitrarily, it could be a word they like the sound of, or it could be something they think describes their new role. Others may not choose any name at all.[1] Many of the Tal-Vashoth cut their horns off because they think it makes them look tougher and scarier.[3][4] Mages are tolerated by other Tal-Vashoth, but they are still regarded with suspicion since they lack proper training and therefore might be dangerous to those around them.[1] The Tal-Vashoth still keep the former Saarebas leashed if those are in their company.

Human Mage/Rogue/Warrior, Dwarf Rogue/Warrior, and Elf Rogue/Warrior are all things that we had in Origins.
Elf Mage is new but Dalish, which I would be fine with except we are Dalish only.
And Qunari is the same as Dwarf with them being in the underworld, the only difference being the Dwarf is Carta and the Qunari a merc.

DA:I could be changing that may be small pockets that have their own thing going on, but yeah culture does imply more then mercs and small pockets of people..

Exactly. Hopefully you'll have some sort of family or something but still. That clear history/culture that anchors the other PC's seems to be non existent for your Qunari option. Again though to be clear I'm psyched for the game. Double preorder already made.

So Ostwick huh? I didn't expect that. I thought Starkhaven or Tantervale but I'm am very interested now seeing as new city and the Trevelyans have family in the Chantry. Also, some of our relative dies, the Elder One must pay! I can't wait for November 18th!

How about both
What I was expecting
Dwarf Rogue/Warrior: Surfacer
Elf Mage: Dalish First
Elf Rogue/Warrior: 'Servant'
Human Mage: Circle Mage
Human Rogue/Warrior: Chantry bodyguard
Qunari Mage/Rogue/Warrior: Caught in explosion
What I was hoping
Dwarf Rogue/Warrior: Kal'Sharok representative
Elf Mage: Dalish First
Elf Rogue/Warrior: Templar
Human Mage: Circle Mage
Human Rogue/Warrior: Chantry bodyguard
Qunari Mage/Rogue/Warrior: Caught in explosion

Stream lining the site so they didn't have to do things for selecting a dwarf.

So we ARE Tal-Vashoth and not just Vashoth? Or is Tal-Vashoth being used for ease?
Ask @davidgaider. He yells at me when I discuss Qunari in public. ![]()

Ohhhhhh.
I never play as a dwarf but they by far have the most interesting background, so I may have to roll one at some point.
Very excited to play the First in the Dalish clan as a mage. Human Noble background looks far more interesting than I was anticipating too. I'll have to do a little research on Ostwick.
