I don't get why people are acting like Cullen ought to either like girly drinks or only the light stuff.  He strikes me as the sort of person whose entire personality changes when he drinks--he doesn't do it often, but when he does, it goes downhill REALLY fast.  That, and WHEN he drinks, he drinks to GET DRUNK, NOT to have a "good time".

I could see him drinking neat vodka in grim solitude.

I reckon he goes straight for the Victorian tupenny-lady-of-the-night style gin. Y'know, the stuff that blinds you.

Breakfast of champions.

The whole point with Cullen drinking whiskey is that he has come a long way from that insecure indecisive nervous little templar down the hall in the circle of magi (DA:O). I imagine him having become more of a "man" now than a "wimp" or a "bro" :P

*cough* don't you mean SOFT DRINK.

Varric is clearly a connoisseur of premium ale. Because dwarves + Ale = drunk dwarf.

No, I do not and you can take your regionalism and shove it next to the pin/pen merger and words for a kitty corner.

Anyway I guess I should have actually put up something sooner rather than later.

For Leliana the reason I question whether she is wine or cocktails is because I see the two choices as sides of business and pleasure. In both her clergical and bardic work it seems like wine would be the alcohol on hand, fancy parties with champagnes, church cellars full of reds. On the pleasure side I imagine an indulgence in Leliana's likes and somehow cocktails more than anything else seem to fit her preference for fancy but enjoyable things. Also at this point I could just imagine Leliana drinking some proper spy martinis. I mean not a straight up Vesper but something of that character. Something saccharine but jetset enough to not have a piece of fruit on it. Maybe an Aviation.

For Varric I imagine him being indulgent of the typical writer's drinks. So the glass of scotch sits next to the unfinished manuscripts for the official Hard in Hightown sequel. At the same time I see where everyone is coming from when they say that he'd drink beer.

And Iron Bull is whatever comes in kegs at night and an alcoholic prairie oyster recipe in the morning.

Iron Bull - Four Horsemen

Cole - Jungle Juice (that should be strong enough to affect even someone in his peculiar circumstances)

Cassandra - Dark & Stormy

Blackwall - Bourbon Old-Fashioned

Dorian - Corpse Reviver #2

Vivienne - Kir Royal

Varric - Martini (I see Varric avoiding anything that would seem stereotypically 'Dwarven')

Sera - Vodka straight

Solas - Sazerac

Josephine - Ink Spot

Cullen - CCP (which he would take up to spite someone accusing him of drinking girly drinks - it basically tastes like a Pina Colada but kicks like a Four Horseman, and oh dear maker did I just connect Cullen to myself?!?)

Leliana - Vesper

Wow, there's a lot of fancy drinks knocking about. I was a bar maid for a long time but it was pretty much just ales, spirits and the odd real cider (it was an old-fashioned kind of place.) I reckon "Whatever Iron Bull Is Buying" would be reasonably high on most comps lists, perhaps excepting Vivienne and Cassandra. Cole can drink something alcoholic but lyriumy.

Jeez, and here I thought this was going to be a drinking game we could play until DAI comes out. So disappoint.

I love the fact that the Drink Thread was started by a person called Blackout.

There has to be an award given out for stuff like that, right?

Blackwall needs one bourbon (Wild Turkey), one scotch (Cutty Sark), and one beer (Lowenbrau).

One can not overestimate how pleased I am somebody referenced that glorious song.

In other news:
Varric- The Glenlivet
Sera- tequila shots
Iron Bull- mind erasers(many)
Cassandra- Smithwicks

Others as they pop into my head.

I work outside Philadelphia, which is a mecca for microbrews. It's part of the culture and local favorite Victory Brewing Company is the source of my username/avatar.

Let's add a few more to the microbrew list.

Leliana: Allagash White Ale
Cullan: Heavy Seas Small Craft Warning
Josephine: Terrapin Maggie's Peach Farmhouse Ale
Morrigan: Flying Dog Raging ****** Belgian IPA

Thing about Bull is wouldn't stop with one drink. He'd mix hard liquor with beer until he got sick. And then proceed to drink again.

I could also see him drinking something unspeakably disgusting like a White Russian or that weirdass cocktail that people always say tastes EXACTLY like Dr. Pepper. Or anything that makes people tasting it gag and say "OMG WHAT IS THIS COUGH SYRUP!"

Somewhere deep in Cullen there is an obstinate streak that makes him reject the booze of people who prefer to enjoy themselves in favor of booze that may induce seizures.

I think with the Iron Bull it'd be more:

PC: "What are you eating?"

IB: *mumbled* "Nuffin"

PC: "Is that some kind of anchovy-stuffed cheese bagel?"

IB: *mumbled* "Could be"

PC: "And what's this red stuff, hot sauce?  OMG it's WATERMELON."

IB: "What, I like watermelon."

PC:  "Is there BOOZE in this?!"

IB: "Maybe."

PC: "OMG."

Cullen: Jack and Coke
Dorian: Vodka and Orange juice
Iron Bull: Moonshine 100 proof w/ cherries
Josephine: Spiced Rum
Leliana: Martini w/ olive
Sera: Gin w/ Cherry syrup
Solas: Bailey's Irish cream

Solas: Mint julep -- not as sugary as the standard version, though.

Cole: Homemade strawberry soda!

Sera: Rhubarb margarita.

Varric: Scotch on the rocks

Cullen: Classic gin and tonic

Blackwall: One of those odd bloody mary recipes with olives or pickles or smoked fish

Dorian: Vodka martini

Cassandra: A very dry hard cider.

Iron Bull: Equal parts ginger beer and vodka with a splash of lime!

Josephine: An irish red ale (I can't explain my reasoning here. It just seems right.)

Vivienne: A classic gin martini. And then she and Dorian would get into THAT argument and it'd be a bit embarrassing for everyone.

Solas:  Chamomile Tea (he wouldn't want anything to interfere with his dreams)

Iron Bull:  Guinness (drinks like a meal)

Varric:  Pina Colada complete with little umbrella ('cuz he's the anti-dwarf)

Cassandra:  Ouzo (licorice-y goodness)

Vivienne:  Kir Royale (but of course, dahling)

Sera:  Tequila poppers (noisy drinks for a noisy drinker)

Josephine:  Courvoisier (reminds her of Antiva)

Cullen: Lyrium ('cuz....reasons)

Blackwall:  Jameson's (a fine sipping whiskey)

Cole:  Root Beer  (it's beer, right?)

Dorian:  Dirty Grey Goose Martini (omg I can just hear him ordering this - squee)

Leliana:  Myer's Dark Rum & Orange Juice (the two sides of her personality, tho decidedly less sunny now)

Morrigan:  Absinthe (we know she don't play)

Trust me, a standard mojito or caipirinha is going to be much sweeter than a real Louisville mint julep.

Maybe Varric should get the CCP then.  Equal parts spiced rum, white rum, coconut rum, triple sec and pineapple juice.

Do you know me? Seriously though, I almost had to go to the hospital 3 weeks ago I got so fucked up. Thing is... I drink when I'm hungover. Can't stop; won't stop.

I think that's what Bull is like when the liquor's pouring.

Everyone is wrong about Solas. ABSINTHE. ABSINTHE, I say! It's a formerly feared and misunderstood beverage which is supposed to be hallucinogenic. He would want to try it for himself and end up drinking it because he liked it.

Honorable mention goes to you, though, St. Vic! (My Inquisitor would choose a Storm King Stout or an Old Horizontal barleywine ale.)

Your blood sugar may be out of whack--people with messed up blood sugar often have weird reactions to alcohol or being hungover and binge drinking can be one of them.

You have excellent taste. Storm King is my wife's favorite. My Inquisitor would be more akin to a 21st Amendment Brew Free! Or Die. I'd say The Alchemist Heady Topper, but that would be relative to the Maker itself.
