The qunari background intrigued me more. My pc was a part of nobility for two games, no reason to carry on the tradition.

The devs have said that the human Inquisitor's age can range from somewhere between 20 and 40, IIRC. I suppose it depends on how you set up your character in the character creator.
I hear Cassandra likes em young.

Hmm, the non mage will help there family, right? Now, what is when you as a mage go to the peace talks and you meet your brother/sisters which you havent seen in years. '' Happy family reunion'', tears, etc.
And then.... they all die.
Bonus point if there is some kind of childhood friend of your family there. Tears, tears everywhere.

So I guess we get to see our family/kin destroyed by the breech...
i wonder if the Inquisitor will actually be affected by this or stoically shrug it off.... or not mention it at all.

I am truly excited for the human Inquisitor. I am so interested to so how our relatives in the Chantry and Templar Order plays out, especially for a mage. Also, I would of preferred Starkhaven or Tantervale but I'm fine with learning more about Ostwick.

Says who? Anyways, I always make my character young and the human noble doesn't seem to be more than 25.

Hawke was a commoner actually. He or she just gets raised to nobility after sorting out the Qunari problem.

Laidlaw has said that the Inquisitor is between 20 and 40. Where he or she falls between those two probably depends on the player and character creation.

He was pointing out that the description says that, I think. The writing clearly leaves it open for you to be "unwilling", so ppl can relax on that front.

And I was stating my choice. An Unwilling "ally" of the Chantry.

Mine would likely be agnostic... Mostly just uncomfortable with having his fate picked out by his parents, younger child thinks only his older siblings should have to do that.

I figure when I get around to making my human, they'll be solidly Andrastian. At least, the warrior/rogue. I'm going to assume a loving family that my protag is fairly close to. They'll want to protect and support their templar cousin(s) or priest aunt (or w/e the actual connection is) and make sure the peace is obtained b/c it would be good for them and the Chantry they serve and my protag believes in.
I also love how the mage background is the other side of the coin, complete with a "like it or not" statement about when you had to fight templars, leaving you able to be the next Wynne, the next Adrian, or anything in between. And, ostensibly, you'll still have the same family ties, but these people won't know you. I imagine that will be rather bittersweet if you tried warrior/rogue first.
Overall, though, I just think its really cool to be able to play someone who can have family within the Chantry clergy or templars. With the clergy specifically, its probably someone fairly (but not monumentally?) important to even be attending the conclave in the first place. And I imagine later missions/encounters will be effected by this too. It does say in the descrip that you have "many" relatives in the Chantry, afterall, so even if the ones at the conclave die, it wouldn't surprise me to run into others. Perhaps when you (or your agent) need to address the Chantry in Val Royeuax? ![]()

I think it sounds good. Question, are the backgrounds important in the game? Do we get a slightly different opening? Are they referenced throughout the story?

They are referenced. You can also get war room side missions that are related to them as well.

I'm hoping it's more than shoved under the rug or given a one line "oh that's terrible. Let's go back to my problems." you mostly get.

Ostwick's good. I'd have prefered Tantervale, since the Wiki says it's the third big city in the Free Marches, but we know next to nothing of it. But Ostwick's good. I'm unlikely to play a human, so I don't have a massive stake in it. I wonder if it works like the origins in DAO and our characters sill exist but get killed for various reasons (likely the fade-blast-thing)?

Cassandra: Your entire family died in the explosion. You are the last of your bloodline.

Can you give us a hint at how often and how much they are referenced? Like are they referenced as much as in Origins, more than in Origins, or less than in Origins?
