I can never win a single twitter contest, other people just get there too fast and the lag (people load tweets at different times around the world, and plenty before the east coast it seems).

I'm at the BioWare Base as I type this. They're doing a panel on the DA Universe which has been interesting and informative. Got to meet the gorgeous Allegra as well!

MP line is a bit too hard to get into right now but hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in after lunch. Will share thoughts later.

Two hours until that panel. I can post some general impressions, but if you'd like to know something specifically, feel free to let me know.

Actually, not even that. There's literally no importation from any other source but the keep. It doesn't matter if you have save games in any other source, you can't import anything about them into Inquisition. The Keep is the only way to alter world states (and hopefully you'll be able to use the character creator two to three times, once for the Warden Commander (if he/she survived), Hawke, and your Inquisitor.

Well shucks. I have to come out and say I was mistaken. (It's really easy for me to do, incidentally. ) The Keep has access to previous save states via your Origin account, so any progress tracked on OriginS and II that's uploaded to EAOrigin becomes available for use in the Keep.

Sorry if I pissed anyone off or confused the hell out of people. That was my bad.

Actually, you were right before. The Keep will not import game progress, decisions, world state etc, even if you have synched characters to your BSN account. All it imports is their basic stats; name, class and portrait. You still have to do the whole process of rebuilding your world state from scratch, regardless of having BSN-synched characters or not.

Just got home. Long day. Spent the majority of my time today hanging out at the BioWare Base. I will use this space to write my impressions from today, which are centered around the single-player demo as well as the Inquisition HQ companion app. I did not get to play the MP demo because a) the line was insane and b ) I was too busy attending panels, so I won't be talking about that right now, but I do plan to actually check it out tomorrow.

Also, some of the information I included below is most likely already known by now, but I will be spitting out everything I learned today that I think may still be unknown to some.

Without further ado, here goes:

1) Inquisition HQ:-

  • This is going to be the official companion app for DA:I's MP.
  • The app will support Android, iOS, and Windows Phone 8, in addition to the inclusion of browser support. That means if you're a nonbeliever and don't have a smartphone in 2014, you will still be able to access the HQ from your everyday web browser.
  • We were shown a rough build of the app that was running off live code. I can say it is beautifully well designed, easy to use, and fun to just look at.
  • There are plans to add features to the app post-launch, unlike ME3's HQ app.
  • Also unlike ME3's N7 HQ, Inquisition HQ was developed internally by BioWare. ME3's app was apparently outsourced which might explain the lack of extended support and limited functionality.
  • The app is not meant to be used together with the game (i.e. as a second-screen experience), but simply as a means of accessing your MP profile outside of the actual game.

2) Single-player Demo:-

  • This is the same demo that premiered at Gamescom. No difference as far as content goes.
  • The version we saw was running on a PC natively at 2560x1440, with a framerate in the 45-60 range (personal estimate, but it definitely was higher than 30fps). In other words, it was ****** fantastically gorgeous.
  • There is a total of 10 fully explorable areas in the game world, each of which will have some relevance to the ongoing story (to varying degrees).
  • They dropped a hint that the game will span beyond just Orlais and Ferelden, though without giving any specifics.
  • The 'Jump' feature was originally not part of the formula; it was added later on once they realized the complexity of the maps they were building. There are apparently instances where jumping may be necessary to progress.
  • Setting up camp in locations you visit will have a significant impact on your collective power.
  • When choosing between crucial story decisions, you will be given textual context so that you know exactly where each decision leads before selecting one.
  • The developer playing the demo opened a loot box that contained a Dalish Hunter Bow with pretty decent stats. I was thinking to myself, "GIVE IT TO SERA!", except Sera wasn't part of the party.
  • Throwing a jar of bees at a group of unsuspecting opponents is a truly wonderful sight to behold.

I think that's it. Maybe. Possibly. As I said, this is stuff I heard at the panels. I do not claim it to be absolutely accurate, nor do I claim that it won't change at some point. Tomorrow I will be playing the MP demo and will more than likely have some more thoughts to share.

Until then, have at it.

Reporting in on my horrific PAX experience today.

My wife and I arrived at 9 am and walked about Con shortly after opening. I had zero chance at the DAMP demo given our starting location and that was okay as I planned to get in line earlier one of the following days to try it out. Did watch others play briefly. Combat definitely looks weightier up close. Saw an enemy called a Red Templar Horror. Had a kind of windup/explosion combo thing going.

Had plans to attend the single player demo in the late afternoon and we had tix to the Keeper event in the evening at BioWare Base. That was to be my most anticipated panel/demo/etc of PAX.

So we headed to our car to finally get over to our hotel and check in. However, lo and behold, our rear window was smashed in, all of our luggage was cstolen- including my wife's prized gaming laptop. All gone. We had nothing but what we were wearing. Needless to say, we were both shaken up and not interested in sticking around. We drove the four hours back home and now get to look forward to dealing with insurance companies and repair shops.

Sigh. Worst Con ever.

However, I was able to buy a Mabari plushie :-)

I'm terribly sorry to hear that, though it honestly doesn't surprise me. Downtown was too crazy today. I was constantly checking my bag and pockets in the crowd.

I'm glad you guys are okay regardless. I did attend the SP panel and posted some comments which you can read above.

Hope things work out soon.

Sorry to hear that man, it seems you won the lottery of bad things to happen at PAX Prime 2014.

I'm so sorry! :( I am horrified for you and your wife. I despise thieves. I hope they get what's coming to them. I hope you can get this resolved as smoothly as possible.

Yay for the Mabari at least. :)
