I would love a full-out personal quest based on your background, but realistically I'd be satisfied enough with a letter from your family/clan/gang. I like those letters Hawke gets from their old Lothering friends, and the e-mails and voice message Shepard gets from their mother are still one of my favorite details of ME.

Didn't one of the Bioware guys confirmed you will have personal quests on the war table, like i'm pretty sure he confirmed it in another thread.

Like it was in the human origins thread. i'm pretty sure

I hope that whatever personal quests exist for my Inquisitor, it allows me to flesh out their personality and backstory more then just the initial origins given to us.

I also hope one of the personal quests is that my Inquisitor really needs to pee while on a mission and cant find a place to go in peace.

I hope we can go back to our families, I really want the elf PC to be able to go back to their clan and get their support for the inquisition. Maybe save them from demons and explain to them all what is happening.
Plus, I think it would be adorable for them to comment of your LI, hehe.

Well i doubt they would be that supportive, they are the Dalish, and they pretty much excommunicate anyone who works with humans, so i don't think we will be seeing much of our Dalish clan, just like we wouldn't be seeing any of our human family, because they are all dead or in Kirkwall.

Kirkwall I thought the Human Origins Family was from Ostwick so how are they dead in Kirkwall?

Hardly, since Hawk is Hawk, Shepard is Shepard, and everyone plays them. But inquisitor could be anyone, its too complicated to have personally quest for each one of them, and I believe the inquisitor already had enough for that broken sky, no mood for family business XD

The Dalish Warden was encouraged to leave the clan for the greater good.  Since we will be faced with a similar situation in Inquisition, I see no reason why this would be any different for the Dalish Inquisitor's clan.  Not all Dalish are narrow minded to the point that they don't recognize the value of working with others when necessary.  They just don't go out of their way to involve themselves in human affairs.

Yeah, the Dalish are. remember even in the camp people were asking, what is a Shem doing in their camp and not wanting to be around him, only the keeper was the real supportive one because she knew the need for grey wardens and knew Duncan personally and it wasn't until you left that people were coming to watch you go, that's not supportive, that's just sadness and intrigued . and think about how the game just starts with the Dalish origins.

You are not forced to kill those three guys, but the humans living nearby will attempt to drive out the Dalish no matter how you handle that initial encounter... maybe if you give some thought to why the Dalish would be concerned about an unknown human randomly showing up in their camp, you'd see this differently.  Or maybe not.

Whether you agree with the Dalish ideals or not, the fact remains that they do not excommunicate their people for working with humans, which was your original statement.  Although attitudes vary by clan, the Dalish are generally willing to work with other races when necessary, avoid them when possible, and do not begrudge a clan member's need to leave and work alongside humans when the world is at stake.  That wasn't the case in DA:O and I doubt it will be in DA:I.

Actually, it's not an opinion since there is no evidence to support your claim of excommunication for working with humans while there is evidence that supports the opposite.  You are simply incorrect.  If you don't want to face facts, that's fine by me, but it is what it is.

except the clan told you, you could never return. sounds like excommunication to me. and you dont have evidence either. you are just using one clan that sent your character and then sent merril away as your evidence.

The grey warden term of service lasts untill their death. You'd have to be a really special case to have a life outside the order (like the sole heir of a major realm). So the warden wasn't as much excommunicated as much as simply had the most tangible immediate ramification spelled out for him: You can't go home again. I'd like to point out a certain once-and-again dalish who returned to the clan after her human son departed for parts unknown in DA2....

And she only excepted her because she had a dreamer son, do remember when you talk to her earlier in the game she said the clan wouldn't take her back. and yes the wardens term of service is to not give up all worldy things, but the keeper her self says you cant return after you leave. and that she wouldn't tell you where the clan will be next.

All i'm stating is they don't like to have any real communication with the world outside the dalish, and they even have said they wouldn't accept city elves but their numbers are so low they have to.

Duncan even spells it out in multiple origins that Wardens hold no title and leave their old life behind. Wynne also mentions this. Alistair is a special case, and potentially so is the Warden (should they marry Alistair, or survive the final battle and become the Arl or Arlessa of Amaranthine.

Thanks!

The "referenced" part is obvious, if only because different races alone will make for different dialogues, not to talk about the mage class in mage matters. But I'm more intrigued about "war room side missions". It doesn't sound like what the OP was suggesting, though. More like point and click interactions, maybe letters or the chance to send agents. Or both.

Let's suppose it begins in the war room with a letter from your parents/Keeper/Carta bosses/mercenary companions. You can choose to forget about it or answer it. If friendly, new letters may arrive. If you answer them, you may get specific gifts or help from your chosen background. Then, there's a crisis and you have to choose between Cullen, Leliana and Josephine to solve the situation.

Problem: Your Carta pals are being crushed by Starkhaven forces.

Solutions: 1) Forget about it. They deserve their fate. 2) Send Cullen with weapons to arm the Carta. 3) Send Leliana to assassinate the leader of the Starkhaven forces. 4) Send Josephine to convince the authorities that there are more important problems nowadays than some Dwarven gangsters.
