Lol for the cartoon look over bit more realism.... realism is ugly to toons complaint....  sorry but I am laughing. Jessica Rabbit is more appealing than Jessica Alba then.  :P  Cause Rabbit cant get scars, cant get pimples where as Alba does. Same case, Cullen in 2 is a toon versus himself in Inquisition appearance. I don't really care for DA2 over Inquisition appearances. People look more real and less toon now.

Well that's just great.  No Varric and we get Nosferatu as a love interest.

Awesome.

From all of Cullen's pics that I have seen he looks like he goes to Madonna's plastic surgeon, just sayin'.

I give gay men total applause.  Dorian rocks.  Good for you.

I can, would you like me to?

Seriously though, why do the female characters always have to be supermodels? Why can't they just be well rounded, legitimate characters? Why do they have to be eye candy? All the female characters are at least on the pretty side of normal if not prettier, none of them are frumpy or overweight or covered in acne, missing teeth, ratty hair, etc...most people would kill to look like them and yet if they're ALL "unattractive" how does that make real, normal people who don't look like a super model feel? Unless you look like Chris Evans buddy, you have no right to complain. Those supposedly "unattractive" companions could all be actors or models. Could you?

Personally, I don't know why you are so offeneded by his comment. It is just his opinion and nothing more. You asked why every female in a fantasy game has to be a supermodel? The same reason why every male in a fantasy game has to be a 6'5 stallion with a sixpack ab. Oh, and by the way it is just a game.

Yes. This is America, after all. Wait...

More seriously, opinions matter, stereotypes matter, and lastly—games, which are an influential part of media, which itself influences culture and society, matter.

And sure attitude plays a part but I'm pretty sure no one wants to romance someone who isn't attractive in the least.

that didn't seem to be a problem with the gazillion people who enthusiastically romanced Tali and Garrus cause gee i dunno most decent people value personality, charisma, and character depth above Barbie faces

Oh and sorry all about the nun thing, as I said I was starting to get frustrated and nasty.

Reason being status quot or no, rarely have I seen any armor in games that I actually enjoy having my character in and whenever I do have the luck of finding such a gem, I out level it immediately and never see anything like it again.  This falls typically in between the skimp wear and the full body armor, and usually has aspects that have a dress like feminine quality to them rather than a harsher look and isn't just crazy amounts of flesh where some kind of glue must be involved to keep it on.

The reason I react as I do is because I've been frustrated with my options in games forever, and the current push is even further outside what I like than the other since it's based on practicality over anything else, period.  I'm just tired of never being able to have a pretty girly outfit in games where I actually make my own character for more than a level or two.  At least the other had a chance of hitting my threshold.

So I'm quite a bit bitter about armors in games, period.  My escapism is, due to my life a very serious and important thing to me, so I tend to get a bit volatile sometimes on the issue of dress.  Having an avatar I enjoy the look of is important to me in my escape from a reality where I struggle daily to just be myself and trying so hard to be accepting of what my limitations are.  Is an escape from that struggle, if even for a little while, and the harder it is for me to get near that ideal, the more it feels like my real life struggle I'm trying to get away from.

:(

Fair enough.

Believe me I know exactly how you feel because I've felt that way very often in games.

Then you can see some of us who actually want gruff females who look like their male counterparts are coming from? We're lucky if we get the heavy armor outfit at all most of the time let alone for a few levels.

I think most of us are coming from an angle where we are discussing what we prefer our avatar to look like. And much like you're tired of your daily struggle some of us are tired of being bombarded by ideals of females having to be an idealized feminine (and often those that aren't are mocked in games or treated like "other" if they even exist) thus the same way you push back against us we end up pushing against you.

Ideally yeah there would be options and we could both be satisfied

Where is our lord and savior in this most dire hour, we call thee David7204 come forth and tell us why having unattractive characters in video games is worse than a lack of HEROISM!

STAPH

Why would you even do this.

<_< The OP's problem doesn't seem to be with body types because it's safe to assume all of the Inquisition women have fairly similar (and nice) figures. If a pretty slender figure is all you need, then tell me, what exactly is the OP complaining about?

All I wanted to say was that saying physical attraction played no part in Garrus or Tali's popularity seems off

I'm not sure I'd call Garrus that physically attractive at all.  Unless you think Xenophilia is common.

I have a huge problem with the animations, to the point where I don't expect I'll be able to enjoy the game, so currently have no plans to purchase it. I understand that a lot of people will complain about a lot of things, but given the level of complaint and controversy over it, you would think Bioware might recognize that it is a problem.

This is one of the reasons why I've always hated the fact that the word "gender" has been misappropriated to mean sex over the last several years. They claim you can choose your gender, but you cannot play an androgynous leaning female in this game. Not with the severely "feminized" female walk / run animations. As usual, the male animations are more neutral and not so heavily sexualized.

My main issue with the walk is that realistically 90% of outfits probably won't even fit it.  So we have a super girly walk, likely no super girly outfits, and thus a walk that can never fit with what we're seeing on the screen.  So it's just out of place in general.

Hopefully someone will be able to mod it. Cause meh I might be stuck using qunari. It doesn't look as bad on her.

And yeah I was looking at Cole's run in comparison and just >_>

I wasn't saying Garrus/Tali had no physical attraction (I think Garrus is a hottie lol...). But they hardly have the conventional physical attractiveness OP seems to be looking for if he considers the likes of Cass & co, all fairly good-looking human-like women, are ugly. Garrus/Tali show that's not necessary to be extremely alluring and fulfilling LI so OP needs to grow up.

Also are you kidding about every male being perfect and model-like? Ha! In BioWare games alone you have a huge variety of male companions. For example Oghren, Alistair, Sten, and Zevran couldn't be more different looking yet the female companions all have the same body and the same perfect facial proportions even Wynne who is supposed to be elderly. The only variation is Shale and she's a rare exception and a DLC. In Mass Effect the male aliens are weird and very non human looking: Wrex, Grunt, Garrus, Thane, Mordin vs the female aliens who look like sexy human women with a head dress/body paint/gas mask: Tali, Samara, Liara. This double standard that limits female characters to ONLY being perfect models while letting males have a wide range of looks is a huge thing. BioWare can do better than that.

:(

It's late for suggestions, but do you have a picture example of an armor you would like to wear in the game? This time if you find an outfit you like we already know you will be able to update its' stats (as was shown in the demo with the "all the feels" axe) as well as dev statements I believe.

To appeal to male power fantasies? When you consider how shocked to a lot of dudebros are that girls play games at all, it's unlikely game designers were making the male characters look like strutting paragons of masculinity for any females that might randomly look at the screen while their boyfriends were playing.

Mass Effect is a huge offender when it comes to the aliens but I don't think Wynne was ever meant to be "bangable" the reason she's only old from the neck up is because everyone has the same bioware body™. Duncan would be the same. The female body model wasn't that model like in proportions anyway, it has a very wide waist for one.

Now that I think about it, it makes my head hurt thinking about the amount of complaining that an actual female dwarf LI would get. Maybe it's not worth it just because I personally don't feel like reading all of that.

I think it's doable as long as they make her a cute white girl. One step at a time. The female dwarves don't have a pot belly or anything from the concept art, but the in game Qunari is very different so who knows.

There was a fat old lady and fat old man body already in the game though, they chose to give her the young hot body.
