How did Cassandra Pentaghast's face change so much between DAII and Inquisition?

She looks like a completely different character TBH.

I think the big issue with the different in Cassandra's looks is the engine difference. In DA2 her skin was smooth with no blemishes, and her face was more rounded like pretty much everyone elses, now her skin has more texture and her face is sharper, plus she is sporting a sexy scar.

Varric's face has changed in a similar way, his skin has more texture and his face has more lines

I prefer how she looks now.

Why is it better or worse to complain about that over anything else.  We're buying a fantasy, aren't we?

We're buying A fantasy, certainly, but it isn't ours. It's the developers fantasy, ripped out of their imaginations and their talks with one another and coded into a game so that we can experience it. I don't want to imply that you aren't entitled to your opinion, because thats completely untrue, but I do think that to complain about something so subjective is rather pointless. If it was your fantasy, every character would be crafted to meet your personal standards. But it isn't. This fantasy is going to be experienced by thousands of people and there was never going to be a situation where everybody was made happy by that because everyone is different.

If something can be measured objectively, and can be objectively shown to be lacking etc, then constructive criticism is far more effective and important- there can be a clear criteria for improvement and a defined way of measuring said improvement. You can't do that with attractiveness. So I can't lie, I see complaining about virtual attractiveness to be complaining for the sake of complaining. If you find the characters attractive, thats a huge bonus. If you don't, their personalities might grow on you, or you might decide that the -optional- romance content is not something you would enjoy this time. Whilst I sympathise with that, its really all there is to it, because if they changed the looks/romances to suit one group, they'd straight away alienate another.

To sum up : It should really not be a big deal if you don't find the companions all that attractive in a fantasy game. ( sexiness is subjective anyway ) The  focus on companions and the romance content might please you a lot and should be more meaningful than in other games, it's what matters most. Wait for the game and keep an open mind. That's the only thing you can do now.

If there's mod of white Isabela, then there will be a mod of white Viv. After few days of game release, i can assure you this mod will make it to the top 10.

Thats why I am glad that frostbite is hard to mod. But boy it is kinda funny, many lesbians are swooning over Cassandra, while the guys are often stating she isnt pretty. If that isnt proof that people have differing feelings about appearance I dont know what is.

It is kind of strange. I'm a guy, and I think she's attractive. Ultimately, what people consider attractive is subjective. Cassandra is probably going to be my first romance, and might be the romance for my canon Inquisitor.

I do hope that such appearance mods don't come flooding out.

Exactly! Appearance is Subjective. What is considered beautiful to one person wont be to another. I used that mostly as the people bemoaning characters looks are usually straight guys and Cassandra is brought up alot. And in many other threads lesbians are bemoaning losing Cassandra.

It was the most stark difference that proves looks are Subjective. Of course other ideas are, Solas and his complete lack of conventional sex appeal and yet one of the most popular characters. On the otherhand, other than a handful of people most people seem to agree that Dorian is handsome. Some people think Iron Bull is monstrous, while others have made "Ride the Bull" hashtag big on every social site I have seen.

She looks like a completely different character TBH.

Because her face got an unique look? Because all the faces in DA2 were all the same? Cass literally looked like Marian's twin sister. (and DAO faces too).

With the new graphics engine they finally got the chance to make the faces different.

There will be mods that change race, skin color and appearance down the road. Even mod's that bypass the racial/sex restrictions of romances. Dragon Age Origins had them, Dragon Age 2 had them, and Dragon Age: Inquisition WILL have them.

I despise when characters are changed from the original, be it sex, race, whatever.  I don't ever want to see a white Viv, same as I never wanted to see a black West or a female Watson.  There's plenty of room to make original characters without arbitrarily changing characters.  There's no good reason for it.  To me once a character exists, it is the same as a person, it's identity is for the most part set.  Minor appearance changes are fine, after all finding a good actor that fits the exact part can be difficult, but that's really it.  To me it would be like having a female Latino Georgia Washington and an Indian Abraham Lincoln.

I will never use such a mod even if I get a computer that can run this.  I think it's insulting to the character and their origins.

It's a proof different people have different tastes, but this entire forums is chock-full of such proofs. And the intrawebs in general, for this matter.

That is where I disagree. Changing a Black character to a White one is terrible because there are few enough representations of Black people that to make another White person when they are innumerous in media elsewhere is cruel. On the other hand, especially with iconic characters that have grown beyond their original role (such as Sherlock Holmes or Capt America) than it is important that that symbol can represent itself to those unrepresented.

And in the case of characters made before being a Minority character was acceptable, such as most comic books and old Lit, than you have a bastion of racist and exclusionary media that people insist stay that way because it has always been that way. Thus denying whole groups any input into something and it growing an often entitled culture. And also implying that being racist/sexist/homophobic is more alright than changing the decade, or vital character traits. It becomes less about keeping characters the same, as an excuse not to have a character you identify with also be available for others to identify with.

Life is unfair, and part of it all is to learn and live with it. Nobody is forcing you to play DA:I with mods, but please show some respect for people that do. Everyone have different tastes, political views, sexual orientation and if they use mods to enjoy playing DA:I it's not our problem... and only PC support mods anyways so at least be "evil-happy" about the fact that PS3, PS4, XBOX 360 and XBOX ONE is "forced" to live in a "unmodable hell" (thats why I constantly advice people to only get PC versions of games like Skyrim, Dragon Age and Mass Effect).

Why? Why must we drag "political correctness" into our private gaming!? A game like DA:I is a fantasy world where our laws and political and sexual views don't apply. You can be any gender you want, be good or evil, yes, you can do stuff in DA:I's world that would send you to prison for life in most countries, and now all hell is breaking loose when people make drafts for mods that change the "skin color" of a DA:I partymember... so what! Just don't download it then...

If its not people bashing skin color mods its people criticizing a game just for offering bisexual or gay romances, always something to hate... life sure is good for some! Happy happy, joy joy!

People can mod their game however they want, and I can be as disgusted by their modding choices as I want. Isn't freedom great? Other players are free to enjoy their Skyrim rape mods or their mods that turn the only ethnic characters into white because white is beautiful and everything else is ugly gaiz. Meanwhile I am free to make as many barfing emoticon posts in response as I want.

How about you read the original description for the white Isabela mod and see where my problem with it lies. And sorry I don't care about someone doing something in their private game, I sure in hell reserve the right to be disgusted with it though.

And you're right. I didn't download it. I will however sneer at anyone seriously trying to say Isabela's a "whole new kind of beautiful." after fixing her "overly dark everything."

Sure you can, but the problem is when people with so much "hate" gets out in the real world in positions that affect peoples everyday life. It's also amazing to see how people with all this "hate" love to use "describing near visual wordings" to their frustrations. Well, in truth, most are just troll-baiters hoping to start a flame war, but for the really genuine haters out there, it feels great you can't do ANYTHING but rant... mods are here to stay and just "playing" a game with mods that YOU hate is giving life a new meaning.... ahhhh!

Well, is this not great, we have some places in the world where the politically correct, bisexual and gay haters can do NOTHING but "rant"... oh my, it's a sure joy to experience this. Games like Skyrim, Dragon Age and Mass Effect are a safe haven (with and without mods) where we can live out our dreams or most dark temptations, oh.... I could ask how it feels to be so powerless, but I wont as far to many "haters" sadly have REAL power out in the "living world", but again; its a small joy that you are totally powerless here... well, you might feel better by click on the "report" button (it's a freebie advice from me) in any post I make.... haha... lol
