Companions... not all that attractive?

I wish they could code a response to these sorts of posts that would elicit a mild shock every time someone tries to hit Post.

Like, there is literally no reason to start threads like this. BW isn't going to see them, smack their foreheads, and then turn Vivienne into a Barbie clone or give Cassandra big, soft Kim Kardashian lips and hair to her ass (and, if they did, the same people would probably complain that they looked "slutty"). They aren't going to make Sera's face less round or her hair less choppy, and Josephine is going to have freckles and a bun whether a handful of hypercritical BSN posters approve or not.

Talk all you want about how you know fifty women who are more attractive than any of the female companions. I mean, congratulations, you live in an especially aesthetically pleasing place and you should consider yourself lucky because damn. But don't think for a minute that your thoughts on jawlines, scars, and the appropriate amount of hair a woman should have matters.

This is a game where the characters are fighters, the women aren't going to look like they just walked off a runway.

Vivienne is pretty much flawless. Which, to her credit, really only makes her all the more impressive. <3

For me, In DAI Female companion look better than Male Companion.

I just want someone look like Alistair or Carth or Kaidan, Cortez even James is fine by me.

Oh, sorry that come from another Bioware's Game mostly.

Everyone looks different in different games. Leliana's and Cullen's looks have changed 3 times now. Of cource Cassandra will look different as well.

Personally I like Cassandra's new looks. It took little time to get used to. I loved DA2's look but I don't think it's superior to DAI's.

I actually think everyone looks very original and like their looks have lot of personality in DAI which I love. Everyone looks so different :)

Im not gonna say that females arent attractive, Scribbles looks cute for me , the problem is long hair issues with this game...

BUT lets face it compared to male romance options , females got short end of the stick this time...Males is just soooo much better , im straight but I rly wanna go for Dorian , Blackwall , Iron Bull...from females Scribles looks fun , Cassandra OK , and I rly didnt like Vivi character profile...but females got Sera which is AWFULL model , so at least that even the odds slightly.

DL:DR Females are OK. But male options are MUCH better. I think we all can agree on this.

P.S. Lets wait for mods guys , if there is any , I think they fix females and they hair issues..tho wait time can be couple months or half year for decent bug free mod.

Physical attractiveness is a matter of perspective. Many, many, straight men, bisexual people and lesbian women find the ladies you're talking about extremely beautiful/sexy/adorable/desirable/etc. If you don't find any of your options attractive, that's just a damn shame and you may have to not romance anyone or perhaps wait until we see them in more detail, get to know them better, so that you have more of a full idea of what they're really like.

Different strokes for different folks. I saw her and it was like a bolt of lightning! Wowza! Then I learned she was straight. That was the coldest of cold showers.

But yeah, arguing about what makes a person attractive is usually pointless because tastes vary so much from person to person. I mean, for some the ultimate in male beauty is Brad Pitt, for others it's Willem Dafoe. Yes, I'm serious.

I dunno.  If anything, I find her scar too small and pretty looking.  Every time I see it I'm reminded of that picture Hester Shaw finds in Infernal Devices where her massive scar has been reduced to a tiny dainty thing to make her look prettier.  Ditto, why is Sera wearing eyeliner?

Honestly, their appearances fit their character, and are much better in that regard than, say, the bizarrely attractive Wynne from DAO, or the lolmakeup Ashley from ME3.  You may not find them attractive - in which case, either don't romance them, or wait till release when we'll inevitably know more about their characters and be able to make a more informed choice based on character interactions.

Maybe it was from a glancing blow? She backed out just in time. The one on her other cheek looks like a fresh cut though.

I'm don't think they are scars. They look like recent cuts, still red and all.

At least one is a scar, I think.  Ah well, may be misreading the picture and getting worked up over nothing.

So... I was looking at the romances/companions for DA:I and am i the only one that thinks that these romances aren't all that attractive?  Well I guess the male companions / romances are actually not that bad. But the female romances? Come on BioWare. Cassandra looked perfectly fine in DA:2 and now... Am i the only one thinking this? Like why is it that hard to give us an attractive female to romance?

I would agree that despite age - cassandra from dawn of the seeker and DA:2 doesent remotely look like Cassandra in Inquisition at all. Her whole bone structure is wrong and thats just the start.

I realize that the characters are supposed to be older, more rough and that theres a new engine and all. But it seems to me the devs beat Cassandra with the ugly stick just for the sake of it. I know Bioware wants to take a stand against female characters being depicted overly sexualized and objectified, but imo they took it too far. As if they wanted to make an example out of it and went the whole distance and more.

I made a thread about this once, but I exaggerated too much and called her an abomination - which led to me not being taken seriously (understandable in retrospect) and basicly lit the the thread on fire with unconstructive and negative replies all over the place. It feels hard to discuss this issue (learnt from experience) without the thread turning into a battlefield.

Heh, I think taking her eye out between games might be a little extreme, or awesome maybe. Though on that note, I wonder if her body should be covered in bruises from blows through armour.

Why is it these Threads always almost exculisively talk about Cassandra? I mean, okay, she has no feminine Look and it's okay when People don't like that.

But there's Josephine and Vivienne. Who both look very feminine. Who both look absolutely gorgeous. One is confirmed as a LI and the other is one everyone is 99% sure about being a LI. But they are never talked about. What the hell?

My guess would be because Cassandra carries the whiff of disappointment after expectations raised in DA2 where as the new girls have no preconceptions or expectations to be judged against.

Personally myself I've not found a single attractive female image at all in DAI, including screen shots of devs female Inquistors. Will it stop me playing the game? Nah I can live without the romance and see how they play as pure companions. I did much the same with DA2, didn't like Merrill or Isabela much either but it didn't stop me enjoying the game over and over again

After having my DA2 character end up single (well, he didn't really "end up single" because I didn't finish the game, but he was single up until I stopped playing it) because I couldn't stand either Isabela and Merril -and he wasn't gay, besides, Anders and Fenris were even worse-, DAI is definitely an improvement.

Note that for alot of people including myself - it isnt about how "hot" she is. Physical attractivness isnt that relevant.

It is about the changes being too heavy and not in line with her actual appearance.

Varric looks almost identical, Morrigan and leliana = slight change but 100% appearant that it is the engine-shift here + the age difference.
How a character looks is a part of their identity just as much as physical appearance. In Cassandras case she does not in any way remotely appear as she did in dawn of the seeker or DA:2.

If you look closely, you can see that her entire facial structure is different. If Bioware wanted to retcon her looks thats fine but Id rather have them say it. Unless you are blind you cant claim that Cassandra has stayed true to her previous appearances engine shift or not, when other returning characters can be identified in an instance.

So the bottomline imo is: Cassandra's new appearance does not stay true to her original (dawn + DA:2) appearance. Its not about physical attractiveness, its about her complete physical makeover. It looks like she visited a doctor to have bone-implants in half her face. This view/opinion would not change if I was a straight girl gamer - the change is not about feminine or masculine, hot or not - its about her entire facial structure being moved around. This has nothing to do with either age, combat or engine shift.

No, we can not all agree. I think the companions are an equal degree of attractiveness as do many other people. As for Sera, I think she's adorable and will end up being one of my favorite LI and I'm a straight woman. On the other hand I don't find Dorian attractive in the least.

I would agree that despite age - cassandra from dawn of the seeker and DA:2 doesent remotely look like Cassandra in Inquisition at all. Her whole bone structure is wrong and thats just the start.

That's because Dawn of the Seeker was a straight up cartoon (one trying to be anime no less) and DA2 had a very cartoony/jrpg wannabe style. DA:I is more realistic so people are going to have pores, angles, and unlike DA2 not every woman will have the same face as every other woman. This was a huge problem in DA2. Even default white Bethany had the same face as supposedly black Isabella and both were main characters and should have looked distinct. If you want to play a game where everyone has plastic-face there are plenty of JRPGs out there as well as fan made mods.

Up early or never went to sleep?

I agree with the OP and don't really find them to be that attractive but I have no problem with that. No ones "tastes" are universal so there is no "giving us a attractive female romance".  Then again appearance is only a part maybe their personality will win me over in the end.

Her facial structure really isn't that different. She always had a rather square jaw, but since she was always talking to Varric, you usually saw her head in an angle which did not emphasize her jaw.

Now she is also in better lighting and has more details on her face. She also has a different haircut and has trimmed her eyebrows a bit more. But her facial structure is not all that different.

I suppose it just depends on your taste. I'm not thrilled with the faces in general, but I suspect that they'll grow on me when they are accompanied by some voices and dialog.
