If my question isn't significant then why are you trying to answer it lol?

because your initial question was significant

I added the second part as a response to your clarification, because framed in the manner you would like the question is not significant

They haven't historically been all that far off it, anyway.  The recent gap is unusual

I'm assuming this thread was inspired by the apparent controversy of Ubisoft pushing out a new Assassins Creed game every year.

What I would very much like, is expansions. Big ones! So for Inquisition, I would be thrilled with a huge expansion every year, making the explorable world even bigger with even more adventures to embark on.

Yes, if Bioware was big enough in number and resources, I would totally support them doing this.

Because I don't want to wait for years to get a new game. I want to be playing Dragon Age ALL THE TIME!!!

Agreed. One a year would be back breaking.

And I like DA2.

DA2 had less than 1 and a half years between it and DA:O.  This proposal would have 3 years between installments of each series.

You should have a shorter dev time if you are working with the same engine as a previous game.  You have worked with it before, your tools programmers have made tools to make the game they will probably have improvements.  If it is a game in a series of games you often have lore spec'd out and such.  DA2 had a very short time frame and was rushed but new game engine or not and new ip to start or not makes a big difference.

You're misunderstanding the hypothetical: each series would get 3 year dev cycles but staggered.

I live in a world where my second favorite game franchise delivered its last decent entry eight years ago and its last great entry twelve years ago. I can wait.

Yeah, you just mixed expansions and games developed by different Bioware studios, other than that you're totally correct.

I'd prefer a really good Bioware game every 3-4 years.

The OP includes the use of different studios, and I don't think it's appropriate to exclude sizable expansions such as ToB, though I put them in brackets to show them as different.

I actually think that's what Bioware is aiming for with DA, the new ME and the new IP

If said games aren't rushed I would welcome one Bioware game per year.

The last few games have been slightly disappointing to name some issues:

1: DA2 - Reused environments, dodgy wave mechanics (magically appearing enemies....I mean come on some appear floating in mid air then drop down!!), etc

2: ME3 - Ending, Fetch Quests,...........Kai Leng, Galaxy at War, etc

They are still great games by any standard and I still play them, however as Bioware games they were not up to the standard I would usually expect.

From what I've seen of Dragon Age Inquisition it looks like its shaping up to be an incredible game and if Bioware could ship one game every year with the same quality and care as they look to have given DAI I would be ecstatic.

I'm not really that bothered about Bioware moving away from the old school rpg's in favour of a more mainstream audience as long as the same care and dedication is shown in the new games.

I have found in recent years that the sort of games I can enjoy has decreased immensely as the graphics have improved.

I got into gaming as a kid with the Sega Mastersystem 2 playing games like Alex the kid, a weird game called Robocod and Sonic.

For years however my go to games were the Final Fantasy series, Command and Conquer series, Croc, Crash Bandicoot, Zelda the list goes on.

Now however the list of games I genuinely enjoy and replay is only around 15 or so and half of those are Bioware games.

I'll end by saying if Bioware could to the best of their ability release a game every year without rushing or cutting corners I would be the first in line. I would think that four or five studios would be needed to ensure an appropriate development time is given to each studio.

If the story, characters and gameplay is excellent, go for it. If not I wouldn't complain having a new game every 2 years

No, it is a ridiculous idea.

Prefer quality over quantity.

Don't need an Bioware version of CoD or Assassin's Creed...year after year pumping out the same titles...with not much quality in them...

No. It takes me more than a year to extract all I want from each game. If they came out that often, I'd have to pick and choose which ones I played.

Maker no!

Do you know what games that come out every year are?

They're short games that rely on dlc and have next to no good story and usually focus on multiplayer and everybody who plays online thinks they're better than you than cos their cousin  knows all the moves for the trick stick or something.

Bioware have a pretty good imagination why would they waste it on that?

If this would mean, every Studio had to punp out a Title every Year, then no. That would only lead to bad, rushed Games.

If this would mean, BioWare as a whole Company would publish one Game a Year, meaning each Studio had some 3 Years for a Game, then yes.

Games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect take around 5 years to create in order to meet quality standards.

Yes, I would love a Bioware game every year because I love Bioware, and their games.

Do I think it is feasible even with that type of rotation?  No.  I'm pretty sure (correct me if I am wrong) some of the writers and devs "float" between the Canadian studios.  It may or may not affect the quality of the game, but it surely says to me that not all the studios are 100% all the time, which is what you would need for a rotation with 3 year dev time, and no downtime at all.  Toss in the fact those devs would probably go insane from the lack of downtime, and you have a recipe for losing all the excellent talent that Bioware is known for.

That would make me super sad, because the crew they have now (at least the "face crew" that you see the most often) are kind of a big part of Bioware.  I'm sure the company could find enormously talented people but it wouldn't be the same... it would be armageddon!  *grabs shoulders and shakes* ARMA-GEDDON!

No one wants that

/tongue in cheek off, point still serious :)

(Chrome wants to correct wouldn't to wouldst... I have a computer from the dark ages, which is awesome.  I invented time travel guys)
