head for mage tower so you finally get those extra stats,
look in wades shop in denirim for a good armor for your rouge, and if you can beat the dragon, he makes nice sets of it
set 'drink potion' as the very first tactic slot, those are in priority order,
so if you have 'beat nearest visible' as first priority, it will never drink that potion as long as there is an enemy near.
perhaps you should then set drink potion at 25% as a backup to your mage that heal at 50%,
she would also have the top priority in healing herself and allies.
a mage can actually produce those health potions that you desperately need, as long as you got a reciepe and ingredients
a what level are you ?
are you playing on PC or anything else ?
you say you are still wearing the same armor as on lv 1 ?
that mean you havnt add strength to your build, as any decent armor require 17 or 20 at a minimum,
i dont think anyone tries to go through DA:O with less, but you get some 4 strength points in mage tower/fade free
you will boost the party damage output by having a mage that runs haste or flaming weapons,
mana clash is bliss vs mages
also consider exploiting some money thing, or hack money out-right, everyone else is doing it,
for equipment play a major role in success
I ALREADY told you my characters' levels. And I told you what system I was playing on. Please pay attention next time.
I apologize if that comes off the wrong way. I honestly have OCD, and it irks me when people don't pay attention, or miss something.
Otherwise, thank you for the help. Honest.

The Brecilian Forest/Dalish elves arc is the more difficult of the remaining treaty quests, so I would suggest going to the mages next... you can at that point recruit the best healer in the game (or not). There are a pair of fairly challenging bosses in that arc, but you can also pick up 21 (!) "bonus" attribute points during one section. (Helpful non-spoilery hint: when you suddenly find yourself soloing, spend the time to explore all the nooks and crannies of the maps, or you might miss out on some of those valuable attribute boosts.)
Other non-spoilery hint: depending on how you've specced him, Alistair may be the more useful tanking choice for the mage tower, as opposed to Oghren.
And despite what you are being told, not 'everyone' uses exploits or cheats. ![]()

So far, this is my progress:
I have played the game for over 7 hours total.
My character is an Elven Rogue, I think about level 7-8.
So far, I think it is a great game. The main complaint I have, is just that everything feels like fetch quests, and the game is getting a little repetitive and dull. There is not a bad thing all by itself, but the game feels like it drags on to me. I want to get to the final battle as fast as possible, and I feel like I'm being restricted and held back. I can understand why, though.
I think it was the era, and that they were still figuring things out with regards to the fetch quests. DA2 had those reverse fetch quests, where you find objects and then then look for owners, just to mix it up a bit.
One thing I'd add to my list is that whenever you find an object with "spirit resistance," try to keep it. If you have the Warden's Keep DLC, you can store it. You'll eventually encounter something that does a lot of spirit damage (purple numbers), and my first playthrough I'd sold everything that protected against it (because almost no enemies use it.
On that note, nothing resists spirit damage in this game, and it goes through armour. So while you enemies don't use it much, it might be wise to have your magey party members pile that on.

I apologize. But thank you anyway. All of you.
I've progressed further through the game. I'm playing through the Mage questline, with little trouble or difficulty. After that, the Elves questline, and then finishing the game. I want to try to finish the game tomorrow.

Well, I honestly don't think this game is for me. I'm moving on to Dragon Age 2. I realize what has been said about the game. But, I did play it for a few hours some time ago. I like the combat and story a little better than Origins, and the game was easier, so I think I should give 2 a chance.

i think you should save the last save of this campaign,
so that if you want to give it another try, use this avatar to unlock Arcane Warrior at the end of the brecilian forest.
Doing that will let you get AW at lv 7 already if you start as a mage.
AW is the only build i can play, the difference is such that i'm giving up on all other builds on normal difficulty,
while i solo on nightmare with AW.
Your platform isnt well suited for this game tho, cause you have no means of leveling up approprietly

I just got my butt handed to me in the Anvil of the Void boss fight. I was using Shale, who I know you don't have - substitute Dog, perhaps, Oghren, and Leliana as an archer - Morrigan's ranged ability is a good substitute. I was at level 14 with a PC mage with spirit healer spec, which turned out to be mandatory, since everyone died at least once. I didn't have enough potions to keep my mana pool up so wound up doing a lot of auto-attack and kiting waiting for mana to recharge.
My suggestion is to keep a heavy stock of health pots so Morrigan can use her offensive spells to best advantage. Don't rely on in-your-face frontal assault to get you by on the boss fights (when the game auto-saves is a good clue that something big is going to happen). Absolutely, keep an eye out for cool equipment and item upgrades. Equip those runes that you find, especially ones that provide buffs like hale and dwoemer (not sure on spelling) for your tank. The XP bonus you get for turning them in to the ally supply crates is fine once you have something better to replace them with. Doing some of the side quests provides a couple nice rewards, like the Key to the City ring in Orzammar. It's an exploration quest, so it's pretty boring, but you get a +2 to all attributes ring as a reward. Use the poisons, grenades, and balms you find to your advantage (but putting rock salve on a rogue to improve its armor class turned out to be a bad tactical decision on my part...)
As far as DLC is concerned, check out the free ones. Most of them are most applicable at lower levels but some are pretty nice. I like the Wicked Promise ring for rogue characters because of the critical chance bonus.

I was wondering if Magdalena11 was meaning the Anvil of the Void Spirits battle before meeting Caridin, or the battle with Branka and the Golems?
In the Branka fight, if I am playing a mage, I run from lyrium crystal to lyrium crystal to keep Branka from getting to them while healing and giving damage to enemies.
If I am not playing a mage and have Morrigan or Wynne, I use them in this fashion.
Heisenburg_16 ~I am the opposite as in I played DA2 once through and did not care for it much.

I never had trouble in that puzzle. As for the Anvil battle, I for one fought Caridin, and during that fight, I had Zevran, Oghren and Wynne. My strategy was to have Wynne keeping healing Branka's golems, that way you have more time to take Caridin out. Sadly, Zevran can't backstab golems, so I relied on him to deal damage with grenades. Giving Oghren an maul helps a lot, since he will deal more damage against the golems thanks to the armor penetration. I had an weapon and shield warrior. He didn't do too much damage, but his knock back abilities came in handy.

I found that if playing AW, ignoring the companions really help, they will otherwise become a distraction to my fighting & tactic
