That's why I said it depends on each persons definition.
When everyone has their own definition for a term the whole point of having a definition is meaningless.
Pride. The belief that females are inherently inferior to males skill-wise in games makes losing to a woman hurt more so than a "peer".
A sad, sad, sad belief.
It's not just pride, it's a society wide problem.
Society tells us what are acceptable activities for a boy/girl, how they are supposed to act, etc.
Edit:
I forgot to go on one of my rants here before hitting post, so here goes:
This is NOT (I will repeat that) NOT a study. At best it is a survey, and surveys are one of the worst ways to gather information. Especially if some of the questions were vague, the answers were vague, and/or they did not have enough answers to cover everyone. This was likely a media poll that's meant to generate a click-bait headline, and having just perused the article itself there doesn't seem to be any statistics involved with the poll.
Does this change what the poll is saying? Not at all, but then again I don't really care if there are more women in gaming, nor the "TRUE" definition of a gamer.
Diversity is always something to strive for, but is it going to really change anything in the end? "Gamers" are still going to be assholes regardless of how many girls are playing.
