So, I've logged on Origin just a few moments ago and saw this. Those of us who preordered the digital version on PC will be able to start downloading the game from November 14 onwards. I apologize If this has already been announced somewhere else on the forums, I didn't find it.

I wasn't aware of that. This is the first time I've pre-ordered a game in digital form, so pre-loading is a new concept for me. All of my previous Bioware games were bought in physical copies.

Thanks!

I think the UK gets it on the 21st and the rest of Europe 20th?

I should get the game on the 20th.

When do they take the money then?

Wonder if it's possible to play said files or will they be encrypted

Likely the files will somehow be date locked through Origin. It may be *possible* to bypass it, but I imagine it'd be complicated, as in my experience, Origin will not run if you have the wrong date set on your computer's system. (My computer clock went back to factory default after unplugging it one day - Origin refused to connect until it was changed back.)

I also wouldn't really recommend trying to bypass the Origin check, but that's just me.

Not in my case?

I suppose Origin will take the money on the 20th?

Edit: Well it seems it's paid, I just checked Origin. Can't remember seeing it on my bank account, though...I'll have to investigate.^^

Great -.-

Why did I have to pre-order retail, again?

I'll be lucky if it gets here before the weekend...

I'm in Europe: Preload available from the 17th at 6pm, and we'll be able to play the game the 20th at 0.00... Which made me feel a bit better for not been able to purchase the physical deluxe edition, cos I can start playing the night before, yay!

:)

Actually, it does download everything, I preloaded Mass Effect 3 as well and when the date came the game was good to go. If I were to guess, I think there is a date based encryption that prevents people from playing before the game gets out.

Closer to the release and no, you can't play early, ya sneaky buggers.  :P

Not usually. Usually your money is processed at a set time before the game releases. Depends on the retailer and I don't quite remember the exact timing for Origin.

Yes, you get everything in the pre-load. You just can't play the game until the exact unlock day and time for your regions. We should know those details right before the game launches.

Not just PC either. If you pre-order with Sony they will also be doing pre-loads.

I don't have digital experience from EA, but if my memory serves with my pre-order for a physical copy of Mass Effect 3 they charged me when they shipped the item even though that was before the game's release so my expectations are that when the pre-loading starts that is when people will be charged for the game.

Urgh I wish MS would speed up the preloading for XBL.

I'll get EA access for DAI anyways but it'd still be nice to finally be able to preload every game.

The Russians will find a way to bypass it

Because retail is cheaper and there is no real need to start playing the game the exact same second as it gets released. What is there to lose if you can't play until the weekend or if you have to wait only a few extra hours?

I find it unfortunate so many gamers find preloading more important than competitive pricing. It won't take long until publishers will be the only source to buy your games for PC (no longer any other store nor site) and Sony and Microsoft will be the only source for consoles. So everyone will eventually only have one choice, paying full price simply because of the insane want for preloads. Sorry but I am a fan of true competition but this looks rather bleak for the future of entertainment.

Xbone now supports pre-loading, they announced it at Gamescom. No confirmation on DAI or other games yet, but as Madden (another EA title, and also included in their EA Access thing) is doing it, it's quite likely DAI will. I guess we'll have to wait and see...

I am not sure about Xbox iive. I visit the PSN store regularly and for their pre-orders. They let the gamers start to download their order ahead of time so it will be ready on the official date. I am glad to see that is finally happening on the consoles.

What?????? I wants to believe this because as it stands now, it will kill me being at work from 11pm to 7 am knowing my game is sitting there unplayed :-(

If I could get two measly hours in before work, why, I might even accomplish something at work the morning of the 18th.
