Hi,
I'm looking to become a contract video editor for BioWare. I've looked at your jobs list, but none of those jobs really fit the role I have in mind, so I was wondering who to get into contact with.
I've done a couple of fan videos on Mass Effect, and I'm not a professional video editor since I don't know how to break into the industry, but everyone who's seen my videos (and bothered to talk to me about them, of course) has always told me I'm very talented. The extent of my professional career has been making videos for Gran Turismo Wiki, a wiki I founded for the Gran Turismo series of racing games. My modus operandi, I find, is very similar indeed to BioWare's: just like you guys put so much effort into capturing the quintessence of the worlds and stories you create with every scene and every word every character utters, I try to capture the essence of the game, its themes, and its overall feel. Capturing Mass Effect was such a huge project that I found I couldn't capture it in only one video, so I've made three so far. As of this writing, two have been uploaded to YouTube: "Ashes to the Stars" which attempts to evoke the wonder and danger of space, and "One/The Child and the Warrior" which brings out not only the excitement of the game, but the firm anti-war themes of the series. The third, "Help Is On the Way," echoes the tense and epic atmosphere of the series, though I've decided to withhold it as I don't really think it's on par with the other two.
I've linked to the two videos I have uploaded below. If you enjoy them and think I have what it takes, then plese forward me to the right person so that I may speak with them directly. I'd be honored to be part of such a storied and fantastic team. You guys truly are the best game studio in the world.
"One/The Child and the Warrior" | "Ashes to the Stars"
Sincerely,
Greg Pass, BioWare fan
