You are embarking upon a journey of at least a year and perhaps several years even though you may think the process is going to be fast (Tchos can attest to this*)
Tchos (though I do not know him personally) is not one to really on prefabs nor allow themselves to be limited by any barriers imposed by the current usage of the tool set. When you make things that closely meet your image of how you want the module to be, it takes time. I am more pragmatic, I come across an obstacle and decide if I really need things to happen that way. If it's yes, I do it. Otherwise I give myself a time limit and move on if I cannot make things work in the way I want.
Yes, I'm more stubborn than others in that respect, where I get an idea in my head for a quest or an event or a spectacle and I insist on making it exactly as I imagined even though it would be a lot easier to do it a different way (like Valve-style cutscenes with no locked camera, where you can walk around doing other things while the NPCs are talking and acting).
I had originally planned to make a quick speed module like the 2-week challenge module I made for Dragon Age: Origins, and the reason I ended up changing my focus to a longer, quality-focused module was that I saw more and more what could be done in the toolset, and I wanted to do it.
One other note: It's also quite possible to start with a prefab as a base, and modify it to meet your needs, which is still much faster than building from scratch.
