Quick little random question. I've been pondering this for a while, are spectres above taxes? Since they are above the law do they still have to pay taxes? I'd like to hear peoples thoughts on this.

Hm I think he pays taxes. But he should have a huge pay too as Spectre and N7.

Shepard never has to file military paperwork either.

I think he's exempt from any of the boring stuff normal people would have to do in his position.

Can you just imagine the fun minigames involved if we actually had to file taxes in Mass Effect.

Press to start N7-1077D form, followed by a 10 minute Simon button game.

EDI probably does the paperwork

Also, most of Shepard's expenditure are job related, so... tax return?

Shepard keeps a separate account for all the credits looted from random lockers and safes.

Apparently, Shepard never withdraws from those accounts again. Free creds for everyone, maybe? ^_^

I picture paying bills as simple as activating your onmitool and pressing the "pay all taxes button" it would take a picture of your face for verification then your account would flash "-500 credits".

shep is a client of Barla Von. Officially, she has an income of one credit per year, while he funnels the rest into things like the Lazarus Project and Salarian cybernetics research, and turf wars out in the Terminus.

True Paragons should be poor Shepards. Most of the money we earn in the games is stolen.

not true because in the Citidel mission, when the 'officer' says she now has to fill out paperwork, Shep says that, he has his on a Template to speed up the paperwork on "why" he got shot.

With her replying "you get shot, way too much"

So as for Taxs, I'm pretty sure that he does, its just that its not mentioned. I mean is there a income tax on looting badguy crates?

I'm sure there is a flat cut

I usually RP that Liara is taking care of Shepard's estate/finances Lazarus Project onward; though she probably farms (to Glyph, Barla Von for example) some of the more mundane elements out after Shadow Broker.

I've always wanted Bioware to add in the possibility to invest money into different area's of research, and to reap the benefits of that, whether it be monetary or with advanced weaponry, cybernetic upgrades etc. it seems like every Spectre but Shepard has large stakes in that sort of stuff, and it sucks.  :(

Shepard is dead. Dead people don't do anything, they just wonder the afterlife throwing parties for all their friends and defeating their evil clone and living happily ever after.

Shepard doesn't have to pay taxes. The Systems Alliance and the Council stole all her credits after ME1. All 99999999 of them. No wonder she joined a terrorist organization. Terrorist organizations don't pay taxes, but they don't pay well either. Then in ME3 the Alliance expects her to save the galaxy with the crap weapons and armor they give her? Damn. She has to go buy stuff from the terrorist organization. I find it odd that Cerberus Armor and weapons are so much superior to Alliance stuff. The Alliance must have had a bunch of peaceniks in the government when they should have been building up for the reapers.

I think EDI's the one who is stealing all shep's money, ever since that first encounter on Luna. Just like that other rogue AI on the presidium, who was stealing money from the quasar games in Flux. When shep died at the beginning of ME2, EDI just took everything before anyone else could, and wired it all to a private account on Ilium.

I swear I saw a twinkle in her eye and a barely contained smirk, when she and shep go shopping from shep's apartment, and she mentioned turning to a life of crime (even though it would look bad on a resume).

Destroy ending, people. Fight for the Lost (money). Take back (your funds). It is the only way.

You can do that on one of the terminals in the Shadow Broker ship.

I'm more interested in whether Shepard still has to eat normal food after Project Lazarus.

Taxes? Bah. There's people for that.

He already has to pay for his own guns, so why not taxes?

Hacking atms, general looting of apartments and dead bodies etc.
Me1 would be ok; me2 you might come unstuck.
