and I can say, as female gamer I am disgusted with male gamers who keep sterotyping female gamers as bad. we are very good at gaming if you let us have chance to prove it.

People on the web pretend to be a lot of things. Half of these people wish they were the person they pretend to be.

Me and my friends just rolled my eyes when a girl said she's a girl so she's not gonna be interested in video games. Female gamers are actually pretty cool to talk to and they're very competitive.

If the Original Poster Cassandra Saturn felt comfortable with the subject, I doubt it'd be a problem; Unfortunately, that's not the case here. I'd say let both sides just let it slide, and focus on something else.

There are some questions that contain implicit offence, and minding your own business is a fairly basic piece of courtesy.

"Are you male or female?" really isn't comparable to asking somebody if Father O'Malley touched them inappropriately.

Is there an article or something that I per chance missed on theses statistics? I'm curious what the actual breakdown is, or if it's just a broad generalization.

 

One thing that was brought up on a podcast called the Co-Optional podcast today was the fact that more and more people are gaming on mobile devices. I wonder if this statistic is a bit skewed by the recent surge of Mobile Gaming and doesn't necessarily reflect core gaming in general? While it's very apparent that whatever gender barrier that existed in video gaming is almost a non-issue now, I still find it hard to believe that the adult female audience surpasses teenage boys when it comes to core gaming. When we live in a world where Call of Duty is one of the most profitable franchises in existence, I'm not entirely convinced by that statistic at face value.
