So I know that the Desire Demon technically has no gender, but I think it'd be interesting that if we were to encounter some taking on a more "male" shape just because, no real excuse tbh. There's some awesome fan art out there but I think it'd be cool to see a desire demon adjust to the actual desire that our inquisitor has. @_@ I Don't know if I make sense or not hahah.

no real excuse tbh.

It costs resources that the development team would rather spend on other things.

I'm hungry right now, so do I get proper Desire Demon representation in the form of a sentient mountain of bacon one meter tall?

So female characters are too expensive for development and now apparently male characters are too expensive too...Are we going to be playing games with nothing but amorphous genderless blobs from now on? Because apparently anything else is too time consuming for developers.

Eh. Well I guess if I wanna be seduced into betraying everything I stand for I'd want it to be by the gender I deem attractive. If Bioware can spare the resources I don't see why not.

Click on the links to Gaider's blog, it explains it with far more information than I care/want to use at the moment.

Enjoy.

I disagree with using the 'they would need to make a whole new model BS." They could just make a bishonen type man, as they are feminine looking anyway.

I've already read them, and it's still telling that when they were apparently given the choice of picking only one model for a desire demon they went with the female one and not a male one the first time around. It does say a lot about the world we live in when the default appearance for "evil sexual demon" looks female. HMMMMM.

Well I mean the whole *needing to spend resources on a new model* is a viable excuse, considering they'd need to make a new model for the chest obviously and what not, with limited resources focused on other things. Still, I thought it'd be nice if they did something like this just becuase if they had some resources lying around for some "fanservice"? I guess? I think it's cool to have some equal representation since not all of us are attracted to what appears to be a voluptuous chesty beauty. Still I guess the copout excuse is that the Desire Demon looks like anybody in the eyes of the victim and that what we see is the true form, but still.

I'm sure people will respond by saying "Well most of the people playing this game are straight men, SO DUH" like that somehow makes it less lame, lol.

It could work. Spaceballs had Pizza the Hutt.

only one desire demon has sex with you.... and your the one who has to bring it up.

beside how many people you think would complain if there were no female demons at all... hell people would complain if any of the other one were female only.

Anyway...Yes representation for all sexes and orientations are important. But you forget....yeah it is the world we live of a world of which is SLOWLY changing over time. Of course they are gonna put in a succubus into this game.  Will they add a male Desire demon in the future? I'm certain they will when given the time..but as it is now, They have given equal love interests for all genders and sexual orientations. That is a pretty decent leap. But after that, they are more focused on making a good game instead of making the game 100% equal to all genders and orientations.

I see equal representation for player characters as a much bigger priority than equal representation for demons, and I venture to guess that Bioware feels the same way. Comparing this to the Assasin's Creed thing is apples and oranges.

Of course it does, and you should be able to identify the root cause of it easily.

Sadly, player options take precedent over random NPCs that the player will be fighting.

Here, let's just get this out of the way:

1) The desire demon is just a representation of desire, not a representation of your desire.

2) The desire demon is not out to seduce you. It is out to kill you. It bargains only when it might gain something from a deal.

3) Ultimately, they will keep the female model because developing multiple models for mooks isn't a big priority.

I do wonder why they don't give desire demons the Mileena treatment - a nightmarish face atop a gorgeous body, or something similar. They are a bit too human-looking for my taste.

I never mentioned anything about actual sex/intercourse, I was only speaking of the fact that the desire demons in the game look female.

I don't think it's apples and oranges. You're right that this is overall not especially important to the game, but you can't really let developers get away with the excuse of "Including equal representation for races/sexes is too expensive" forever because then they just wont even bother trying.

Clearly another sign of the tyrannical patriarchy right?

Clearly you are being dismissive/sarcastic, but hilariously enough it is, lol.
