What if you flirt with everyone though?
That would send the code into new levels of not working. If of course they could ever make it so that it worked in the first place.
Pick the person you flirted the most with, or just randomly from among them.

David Gaider may be a dev, but he does not have the last word on anything. He may have significant input, but that doesn't mean a thing if: the consumers don't like it and bit**loud enough, (Ala ME3 endings) then they have to change it.
Not when assets are locked down and then they'd have to work to create a new model that would take time away from bug fixing
So in character creation they should have a Orientation tab then?
I suppose there could be a selection in the options on what kind of desire demon we like at start of game but i don’t think Bioware likes to do it this way.
Eh, if you ask me they shouldn't go to the trouble of making a whole other model. Just have the desire demon change into either a attractive guy or gal and just like with the personality dialog wheel depending on if you have chosen political, witty or aggressive the same thing works here depending if you have flirted with more men or women...And if you are doing no flirting its just a normal Desire demon.

Lots of time i am just being nice to someone and the game thinks i am flirting with them so i would not like to get a male desire demon as i like girls.
Also some people like both so there has to be some kind of selection or people will complain that they are getting the wrong desire demon.
Normally the Flirt option is clearly labeled. like in DA2 you'll see hearts. So it shouldn't be too hard to avoid.
I don't think any of the demons look male. Rage and Sloth are just blobs that vaguely look like the WoW voidwalker.
Sloth isn't a blob. But all three of them have very male voices and 2 of them have very male figures, they weren't meant to look attractive at all though, they were meant to look as actual demons.
Point is, while it would be great to have a male desire demon, demons don't represent society or stereotypes nor should they. They simply exist the way they do because that's the design the developers had in mind and would honestly produce the best result.
My eyes!!! what sane man or woman would desire such a thing?!
o/ I do! Like the female version, full of smooth and sensual ![]()
Personally I think the demon should be slowly shifting between feminine/masculine appearances as we look at it. I know, that's a real timehog to make happen. I would definitely like to see a fully male model, but if the art department is feeling ambitious they could try creating a model that is smooth, sensual, sexy and utterly without identifiable gender.
The fact that the other demons all default to male just highlights the decision to follow the exceedingly sexist succubus thing.

I have to ask. It is now a requirement that everything Bioware dose is 100% unbiased and 100% politically correct? I mean, this is a lot of focus for a minor enemy type that will hardly ever deal with. I mean if we are doing this, we might as well head over to Blizzard and demand they change the Succubus minion there as well.

No.
But I find it odd that they're generally admirably concerned with being inclusive and sensitive, but are also OK with the literal demonisation of female sexuality

It's not a lot of focus, it's a few posts on an internet forum.

Considering this topic keeps coming up, I'm assuming it's a larger issue than currently seen..
I always saw the desire demon as an intentionally twisted and shallow representation of what a demon, with it's limited understanding, would assume a human would find desirable. After all, were it 'accurate' it would likely ditch the purple skin and the tail/claws/creepy eyes/purple fire shooting out of its head - as those are hardly a representation of conventional beauty. I would even go so far as to say desire demons look freakish and scary, curvy female shape aside, though some might disagree (and to each their own).
That said, I think it would be cool to see male desire demons, if for no other reason than variety's sake. And it would (partly) solve the issue of a video game once again assuming a large-breasted woman is the default for 'sexy.' I don't think they would need to make it so complex as to script it based on your dialogue choices, but they could give us a mix. It could even make sense lore-wise. Where even if the female version were slightly more common, a desire demon who had happened to encounter a bunch of straight women or gay men would see a male form as more useful, as that's what their dreams/memories/desires would indicate.
That said, I also think it would be cool for demons other than desire to take on more feminine forms - as opposed to using a male form/male voice actor by default.
The desire demon should have been a blank mannequin - or an androgynous human - perhaps with either a see through chest or it's heart showing from it's chest (your hearts desire).
That demon is most likely not the desire of dwarves, elves or qunari - anyone who is a straight female or gay man - anyone who is asexual by nature - anyone who finds gross demon women abhorrent - etc. etc.
Also, if it was going to be Lust, they should have called the demon Lust. Desire implies a vast array of wants that - like on the first page - include a giant pile of bacon.
The desire demon should have been an abstract.

So, in that case , the inherit sexism in the default appearance for an evil demons who's power revolve around sloth, rage or pride happens to look male?
Against men? No.
This plays very much into the idea that the default setting is male, and they just went out of their way to make the evil lust driven demon female, lol.
I would also like to point out that trying to imply anyone making a complaint in this regard is just "offended" or "angry" is really dismissive and adds nothing to the conversation, it simply derails the topic at hand.
that the default setting is male,
I'm really hoping you're talking in general. Because if you aren't we're not playing the same game series.
I think it's better to play it safe and avoid making the demon look human at all. Maybe a pile of gold coins would be the least offensive option... or would that be unacceptable to people who oppose capitalism? ![]()

I like this idea just because it makes desire demons scarier. When you realize that they ACTUALLY look hideous, but have the ability to make themselves look like whatever you desire is way scarier than some horned pink boobie lady.

I'm too tired, confused and not really in the mood to say anything more so whatever.

I think wrath and pride at least are somewhat stereotypically male traits on account of males being generally a more violent and aggressive gender, so I would disagree that portraying such demons as exclusively male is a neutral statement.
Well, I don't particularly feel like explaining how sexism works even if it was directly on topic, which it isn't, but no, it's not the same.
