I think that this is one of the areas where the developers have been too much influenced by Warhammer in the bad way.  Every time I see a Desire demon, my first thought is 'daemonettes' followed by 'f***ing Slaanesh'.  I should not be thinking that.  I should not instantly think of another universe when I see those demons.  The Rage demons, Pride demons, and new Fear/Terror demons look far more unique and distinctive - at the very least I'd have the Desire demons follow the amorphous blob tradition of the Rage/Sloth etc. demons.

the whole magic and deamons system is a copy of warhammer fb and 40k and this is good that they do not do stupid DnD magic system

 

and yeah i think we need at least 1 deamon who would look like female especially if this deamon is connected with lust & love-desire...i not see any point to make desire deamon to be another male looking like the rest of them

 

i think people can understand that the majority of Thedas minds form each deamon forms..so it is easy to understand why desire deamon look like she is

Not saying they should be MALE.  They should be of indeterminate gender like all the other demons in appearance.  Maybe female voices, or more feminine ones by comparison.  But I think that given how many gay characters exist in the DAverse to assume that the desire demons born of the consciousness of the entirety of Thedas would ALL be female is grossly arrogant, and not even Warhammer does that.  

 

Also, I note that people who tend to prefer the Psykers of Warhammer over DnD magic don't tend to know how TERRIFYING DnD magic actually is.  There's a reason casters were nerfed after 3.5 and that's because a properly built wizard in DnD was a God who made an Arcane Enchanter in DAO look like baby's first adventurer.  The threat came less from the magic's origins (unless you bought into that positive/negative energy plane nonsense) and more (as it should) due to the fact that magic allowed you to warp the primal forces of creation to your whim and kill monsters that made barbarians cower in fear with a snap of your fingers.

Pride Demon look is male or female, there was a female pride demon, no change of gender appearances, just a body, Awakening, The Queen/woman turned into a pride demon off the souls of those she had captured. Im going to guess, cause she didn't have a "female body" type, it will be argued, when she is a she and name is a she, and she is a Queen. Though trans can be queens too, but doubt she was with male parts.

I guess I'm the only one that didn't think the desire demon or Iron Bull was that awesome.  What's wrong with hair?  The Arishok has hair.

I didn't consider the Desire Demon awesome.  Though I like Iron Bull, he seems cool.

Well, It might work out, if you state your sexual orientation beforehand (you do that while creating a character) and this changes the desire demons to what you would desire (note: I don't think it would be that good an idea - on the other hand, I still would only get female desire demons, as I either play straigh male characters (as I am male) or lesbian female characters...well mostly, for trying the romance options I sometimes play straigh females (can't play gays - even if I don't have a problem with them in RL - probably a block from my upbringing, gays are still not seen as normal))....

 

Note: I would not have a problem with a few male looking ones (if they loose the nipple-clasps...I don't even like them much on the female ones (!!!)), still I prefer the female looking ones (they are more attractive to a straight male - like me - I would say )

I think the desire demons are kind of a joke, regardless of gender.  The way that they wriggle around and feel themselves up?  Not sexy.  They actually come across as cheap sex-workers. 

 

So, if they were going to make male model desire demons who act like that?  I'll pass. 

 

That being said, I'd also like to pass on the lady desire demons too.  Gross.

I'm sure people will respond by saying "Well most of the people playing this game are straight men, SO DUH" like that somehow makes it less lame, lol.

 

There is also the fact that most game developers are straight white males.
 

No one is asserting that a lack of male desire demons is "keeping" anyone down. I was simply pointing out the inherit sexism in the default appearance for an evil demon who's power revolves around lust and sex happens to look female.

The desire demon is actually a good example of patriarchal bargain, since it more or less conforms to the stereotypes and roles surrounding feminity in a patriarchal context to further its own goals, regardless of wether it actually wants to act and look like that as a genuine expression of itself.

A female human abomination being possessed by a pride demon (or becoming a pride demon in its own right) does not make said pride demon automatically female. The male/female thing is pretty much only valid for a part of the animal kingdom, not even all living things, and much less trans-dimensional spiritual beings.
