Varric by all means! Not only that fellow had a really remarkable look, but also a good sense of humor. Took him to every single quest in the game, so that he can retell my story well Didn't really use Oghren half as much in the first game...

Even if I am a Fan of Oghren and didn't think his Awakening Self was bad, but even if he was Fun to have around, the always sexual Nature of his Jokes grew tiresome. Varric, on the other Hand, has a much broader Arsenal of Funnyness under his Chest Hair.

I simply couldn't stand Oghren for some reason. He wasn't a bad character when I thought about it, some of his lines were quite funny, but we just didn't click. Varric, on the other hand, was the exact opposite. I couldn't get enough of him.

Varric is awesome. Sigrun is pretty cool too.

Oghren is ok, but the alcoholism and sex-joke thingy got a little old. Not to mention how he changed in Awakenings.

Varric hands down! Oghren was fine in DAO, but his character was ruined in Awakening in my opinion. Varric is just an all around easy to get along with guy who is pretty much meant to be your best friend in DA2.

Varric, I love Oghren as well but Varric is in a totally different league than him.

Varric, Shale, Sigrun, then Oghren; all make my teams. So does Dagna, Sandal, and Felsi; even Bodahn is cool after one overlooks getting bilked by the silver=tongued trader.

Varric, he's unlike many dwarves I've seen in recent portrayal. Oghren reminds me too much of that alcoholic relative that would sooner drown in a barrel of egg brine more than anything

Oghren reminds me of my ex. And he sometimes is quite unpleasant, which annoyed me pretty much...

I'd go with Varric, he is very unique and likeable; a dwarf that is not repeatable in appearance and character.

I prefer Varric, Oghren is an incredibly annoying & unfunny companion that should never have been brought back in Awakening, especially since the small character development he got in Origins was completely ignored

As a character, I prefer Oghren. He's much more flawed and broken as a person and I like that about him.

Both are completely different characters. You can't really compare them.

 

I like both equally (maybe Varric just a little bit more). I think banter between the two would be priceless.

Origin Oghren > Varric > Awakening Oghren.

 

Varric might be cooler but Oghren and his banter with every companion in DAO is just too funny for me. Also Mabari chariots is a great idea.

Varric.  Oghren's just kind of....not the kind of character I like.  Didn't help that he just didn't get on well with any of my wardens.  He's pretty much the only one I didn't buff to +40 approval in Awakening, just cause I couldn't bring myself to talk to him.

He is both funnier and more bad@ss than Varric.  If Varric and Oghren fought, it would end with Oghren taking Bianca from Varric's bloody corpse and trading it for some ale and roll in the hay at the Pearl.
