Just now noticed that around certain areas by the cargo boxes on Rio, stasis will insta kill most lower level mooks.

Tested on Husks, Cannibals, Marauders, Geth Troopers, Rocket Troopers, Cerberus Troops, Centurions, Nemesis' on Bronze, Silver and Gold. 

The area that I had the most success is around the top/bottom alleyways of the Cargo/Ammo box located up and left of the box of shame. If you have the patience, you can stay in the 'hidey-hole' around the other side of that ammo box and spam stasis in front of you. Took out an entire first wave spawn that way. 

Helpful for any one who needs Biotic Mastery points for Stasis.

I believe it even works on phantoms, basically everything that you can catch in stasis

I never had an issue with getting Stasis points. I've got them done without trying on every single Biotic Mastery I've done.

 

Guess I use the AA and Volus Adept too much

It works with any ragdolling power. Pull instakills as long as it ragdolls between the crates. Stasis is just easier to use versus shielded mooks. This is/was a known thing to most.

Why use stasis when i can easily kill a phantom by charging across the map throwing 12 grenades, shooting and then charging again??????  I mean one never has to spec into stasis, just claymore em in the face!

That's not the only good thing about Rio. It's the best place for grenade classes, for example.

No. Jade is. Rio may have more but Jade let's you use them more effectively. Less transit time from box to box and pretty tight pathing to hold enemies together. Always makes me smile when I have a nade kit and it comes up.

It is, one of the very top abilities in the game.

No. Jade is. Rio may have more but Jade let's you use them more effectively. Less transit time from box to box and pretty tight pathing to hold enemies together. Always makes me smile when I have a nade kit and it comes up. 

 

Admitted that Jade lets you throw a lot of grenades, but you never get 3 grenades out of any of the boxes on Jade, whereas with GC5 on Rio you can throw grenades all game long and never run dry.

Rio is pretty good map overall IMO, but is also a source of all kinds of weirdness.

For one, I often end up playing hit-and-run while vanguarding off-host there. Charge across the map -> kill stuff -> you are teleported back to the center of the map. Does it fail to track charges maybe? Whatever. Rinse and repeat. Duh.

That most often happens if there's a height change involved in the charge, as is sometimes the case on Rio.

In the crates is pretty reliable. Mileage may vary in the pylons beside the box of shame.
