How good are you at repressing and exploiting the poor?

I'd be a rouge mercenary....Or a willful circle mage...or even a mage in hiding. If I were a tevinter mage, I'd take over with amazing blood magic.

In the long run, that'll happen regardless of where you are.  But I would rather die somewhere there isn't undead.

Mmm, You think the Seekers recruit mercenaries?

I wouldn't mind being one of those...that matte black armor would look good on me.

What would you do if you were born castles? Go criminal, join the legion of the dead, make for the surface be glad Behlen is king?

Go for the surface and try to work for someone to get started. Probably would have to smuggle for the Carta. I'm no fighter, no way I could make it as a thug or fighting darkspawn.

Probably why the Legion of the Dead wear black.  May as well be a well-dressed corpse.

I'm studying to be an Anthropologist in real life, so if I wasn't a mage or murdered by a Blight or dragons, I'd probably still do that, but Thedas style.

griffin fossils come to me.

What do Griffon fossils have to do with Anthropology?  Or are you just collecting them as a hobby?

Anthropology and Archaeology go hand in hand. Like a married couple. Or macaroni and cheese.

Knowing my luck, darkspawn would have knocked down the door to my bedroom while I was masturbating, five minutes after settling down in Thedas. Suffice to say, due to being ill prepared and holding the wrong type of sword at the time, I'd be gonzo. So... at least I wouldn't have to worry about how I'd get by? You know... because I wouldn't get by.

Or you could run into intelligent darkspawn who turn you into a hybrid like in the Calling novel, then lead the armies of death and darkness against all of Thedas!

in all likely hood I'd live a normal life as a farmer in some backwards part of the world, go to the Chantry on SUndays or whenever, pay my taxes, and marry the girl next door (who is probably my second cousin or something)

That depends almost entirely on what opportunities I'm born with. I can't take big risks unless I have the money to survive if it flops, which, if I'm born as a casteless dwarf or city elf I or a not-well-off human I probably do not.

I will probably end up going into whatever work my parents do because they can teach it to me for free.

As is? Probably die of some vile disease everyone on Thedas is immune to, just after spreading some vile disease (probably chicken pox) everyone on Earth is immune to.

If that doesn't happen, I'll probably die of dysentery. Indoor plumbing is a ****ing miracle folks.

If that doesn't happen, I'll probably be eaten, poisoned, mawled, trampled, or incenerated by some of the native fauna.

If that doesn't happen, I'll probably be violently and fatally allergic to the flora.

And if that doesn't happen, maybe just maybe, I'll make it to the Pearl. See the first scenario for how that'll turn out.

... do these in game aspirations reflect your real life ones, at all?

As with any pseudo-medieval Europe world, you best bet is to probably join the Church or Chantry. Nothing offers more protection than that. You lose a lot of freedom though.

I imagine my time in Thedas would involve being immediately murdered by bandits, wolves, rogue Templars, rogue Mages, Abominations, bears, drakes, dragons, darkspawn, angry dalish, Carta, Qunari, Tal-Vashoth, Hawke, The Warden, or a falling meteor.

Real life aspirations?

Right now the goal is "don't fail German class"  hardly applicable

If a Circle mage i'd blood magic my way out of there as soon as I felt strong enough. Locate and destroy my phylactery then head to the largest city in the country and enthrall my way into ownership and management of a tavern/inn/brothel. Would also do research into immortality and probably end up getting posessed.

If a free mage i'd just skip the Circle part.

If a poor mundane i'd do whatever my parents were doing or i'd join the army.

If an affluent mundane (noble or otherwise) i'd do whatever my parents were doing and spend as much time as I can engaging in drunken debauchery at the finest brothel in town.

If i were a circle mage, id take advantage of all the access to knowledge, id also learn to be a knight enchanter.

If i were an apostate, i would make like solas and train myself or at least learn to control whatever talent i manifested as a hedge mage.

If i was without magical ability i would seek out the Templars, with aspirations to join the seekers.

Or perhaps join a group of Reavers and join a mercenary group or look for work in the marches.

Since I'm an ENFJ I'll most likely start a cult that accepts all the races (it doesn't hurt to have as many followers as possible) and take over the world.

Psssh, I already know I'd be a powerful apostate mage that would give the chantry, circle of magi, and templars the finger. I'm a person that craves adventure and thrills so the shackles of the Circle would not be an option for me. I'd train myself in the ways of entropy and elemental magic. Tbh I'd probably be a blood mage on top of that but avoid deals with demons. Making my way in life I'd be all about the booty.

That's right, I would find Isabela and join her crew becoming an apostate pirate mage! As a side career I'd sell my magical talents for profit for those more open minded about it.
