If by short end of the stick you mean that this time straight and gay players finally get the same number of LIs. (Bisexuals, always get more by the very nature of our sexualitiy) then yes I suppose you're right.

 

Or perhaps you mean the quality of the LIs, Cass and Josephine look great and seem very interesting.  Josephine's character interview made me fall in love with her and I'm probably going to roll a male Inquisitor just to romance Cass, since I was disappointed when I heard that she was straight.

I too hope that in DA4 there is a Female Elf available to Male Elf characters, if that is what you are asking.

So romances are only unfair when straight males don't have a harem of women to choose from like it was in Mass Effect

Well if we count out the known LIs we get 2 possibles for straight men, 2 possibles for straight women, 2 possibles for gay men,2 possibles for gay women, and 4 for bisexuals.

 

As I said in my previous post, bisexuals naturally get more LIs so it looks like the 'sticks' are even number wise.

 

From the context of your sentence I assume you are using She-Hulk as an insult, I happen to think that depending on who draws her She-Hulk can look very sexy. Your opinion on Cassandra's attractiveness is of course personal to you, but I think you'll find many people who find her very attractive and just because you don't find her attractive doesn't mean that straight men are getting the 'short end of the stick'

Given that a certain proportion of those same people say romances should go or they eschew romance altogether even when present I think it's laughable for those same individuals to then complain they're not being catered to... So you want more LI for you, but you'll never play them. :/

Lots of choice - Dating simulator!
Diversity of choice - player sexual isn't real or valid!
Choices spread amongst gay/straight/bi options - all the choices I have are not to my taste!

You can't win.

I said for male elves, not just males. I can understand people who want to roleplay a male elf who romances a female elf, and think it should be available in future games.

Pretty much. Dalish guys finish last. I see no point in rp'ng a Dalish (with the feels and stuff) if he's going to chase the first Shemlen skirt (or greeves in Cassandra's case) he sees. Forever alone.

 

I don't see much point to it. The last two games limited you to a human/elven romance, and the last one completely ignored the difficulties of an interracial romance and relegated the controversy it caused to a codex entry, as well as minimizing the 'human only children' issue with a single remark by Merrill (to a male Hawke) about the sacrifice she would be making as a Dalish elf who was in a romantic union with a human - rather than exploring what she was giving up, as their children would be human, and her elven heritage (which Dalish culture strives hard to maintain after so many losses) would basically die with her.

This reminds me of something a Dev put on here a LONG time ago.  Don't remember who it was.  He said when he first started I the business someone told him.  "We could invent a magic purple hat.  This hat will have the power that the fans can write down everything they could ever want in the game and put it in the hat.  Then poof the perfect game for every single player.  They would then ****** that the hat was purple."  Not word for word but that is the jist of it.

I'm just gonna say that so far the female companion whose personality I enjoy most is Sera's. I rarely if ever play female. this is like ME3 for me all over again. Sure I enjoy having supermodel options and an adorable faceless girl but I wanted Traynor. Now I want Sera. I would have gladly given up Ashley and Tali to the homosexual female side to have gotten Traynor as at least bi. that said, still haven't gotten the game yet so I have no idea who I will go for.

In Origins, we could romance Zevran as a City Elf or a Dalish Elf (elf/elf). And we could romance Alistair, Morrigan, or Leliana as a City Elf or a Dalish Elf (human/elf). 
But I share your enthusiasm! I'm looking forward to my Inquisition love fest.

 

Yes but there was no Elven female romance in Dragon Age Origins.. there were mods that made Leliana or Morrigan as an Elf but still..

Sorry, no dwarf romance . The remaining two love interests are both companions, so it's some combination of Vivienne, Solas and Blackwall.

Jokes aside if I remember correctly a lot of people complained about DA 2 romances (I still think it was the best compromise for everyone but ok), calling bioware a date sim. Now bioware has done what the majority fandom wanted? and still people complain about this?
 

Also a lot of female players wanted Cassandra has a romance for the FemInquisitor but you do not see me and a lot of them whining about that ffs. Bioware games are not all about romances or who gets more characters to sleep with, get over yourself.

Some people ain't happy unless there are more straight options then anyone else, im guessing most of the people whining expected it to be like ME or Origins but since its fair & not biased towards straight male characters they feel discriminated against
