Real world racists believe that if "white" people don't exclusively intermarry with "white" people, then the "white" race will die out. The IRL racists absolutely believe there is some mythical "white" race that they are saving by breeding for genetic purity.

All that you're saying is that you think the IRL racists would be right if there was good reason to believe that race isn't a social construct.

Funny, because everyone else seems to think there's a "mythical" white race as well, that has the SJW version of original sin: privilege. It exists when it can be vilified, but is a myth when it's put as something worth preserving.

You could replace white with Korean, Oromo, Nahua, Turkic, or any other ethnicity and it'd still hold true that these ethnicities would lose their distinctness if interbreeding was the norm. Whether or not this is a good thing really depends on your point of view I guess.

Elves in DA aren't just another breed of human however, and they don't produce half-elves like in other fiction. They actually can die out because of interbreeding and then you'd be left with humans living in a forest.

With 8 Possible LIs in DA:I, I'm very conflicted over changing their sexual orientation with a mod. I understood it in DA:O, were a gay Warden only had one LI option but BioWare seems to be trying everyone options as equal as possible so I feel that changing a character's sexual orientation is kinda gross.

There are so few gay characters in games that using a mod to remove some of them makes me feel like you'd be trying to make the DA:I cast more straight. Turning straight characters gay also feels unnecessary with this many options and feels more like you want to control a character rather than learn about them (this can be said for mods to turn gay characters straight too)

Of course I also take the point that a straight male Dalish Inquisitor has no elven romance.

As I said I'm conflicted, its not as clear cut for me as mods that whitewash characters, which are totally gross

I don't think it's acceptable to fiddle with a character's sexual orientation no matter what options are available. The characters are what they are, so in DA:O when people modded Alistair or Morrigan to be gay I found it a little offputting and even offensive. In my mind it speaks to a lack of respect for the character and is fanfiction at best.

It's disappointing for me that there is no straight female elf LI but I wouldn't want to mess with her character, because I don't need the romance that badly. There's something to be said for friendship, which I find to be generally more fulfilling and less awkward than the romances after DA:O. I mostly skipped romance in DA2 because out of the entire cast Sebastian and Aveline were the only characters worth romancing, imo.

Anyway, I went off on a tangent. DA3 will likely be like DA2 for me - no romance. I find interracial romance in a fantasy setting to be kind of weird so I'll abstain.

How are straight males getting the short end of the stick? the Li options are equal this time

Having any romanceable female character not available to the straight male gamer means they're getting the short end of the stick

I agree I was hoping for a female straight/bi dalish this time. And with Solas being male, that means I won't be running a male dalish like I intended, I guess. I'll be running two female dalish instead. With just five Keep slots so far, either one of them (the Solas one) or my intended female qunari has got to go until we have another slot. :-/

I hope Vivi is a romance option. I love Sera and I think I'll also really like Josephine, but Cass I've never thought was all that interesting. I didn't like her in DA2 or her movie. If we have Vivi, I'll still run three males, guess I might drop the Cass one. Blah, we need six slots. 5's just not enough. :P Anyway, rambling.

Yeah, straight/bi fem Dalish for DA4 :)

I'd like a stick, I'd call it a stupid stick and hit stupid people with it. (Not aiming my stupid stick at you, my non-stupid friend)

this is the part where i thought that game developers must give a race gender toggling switch. It will give happiness to everyone. Those who want to play it in originality they can play it as its and those who want race gender toggling can play it in their own way. Only if game developers would give us a race gender toggling switch in option menu it will be a lot much better. It is a great utility over sentiment. Its bioware's own lines from aveline DA2

Should have worded it a bit better my friend.

I am a straight man myself, I make no excuses for it and I partially get what you are saying here.

The first part doesn't make much sense though because it is bisexuals who get the most options, not gays and not straight.

What you intended to say with regards to Cassandra is "The only straight female option is a butch short haired woman, which is not my type of woman and I prefer a feminine ladylike woman with longer hair and less brashness."

That would have made a lot more sense and clarity.  B)

I am with you on that as well. In DA:O we got Morrigan who was both feminine and independent.

In DA 2, we got Merrill who was feminine, cute, adorable and naive. Yes she is bisexual but she not the promiscuous type of bisexual like Isabela. She is more like Fenris in that she is rather territorial about Hawke.

From the list of love interests I have seen so far for DAI, the feminine, ladylike and independent woman on the team would most likely be Josephine Montilyet.

So that's who you should look out for if you want a romance.

Well, you did get my point. My both romances in previous games were Morrigan and Merrill and I do prefer more feminine options. The way I feel this is going to play out with that josephine is that she will be more like ME2-3 Kelly Chambers LI. Since she is not a party member. As for the "who gets most" point, I say it´s gay community because the way I see it is that bi people are part of the gay community.

Advisor romances have just as much dialogue and interaction as companion romances, so Josephine will not be a Kelly Chambers but a full romance option.

Due to the nature of our sexuality, bi players or bi Inquisitors automaticly get the most romance options. For example in DA:O Bi players had 3 choices, straight players had 2 & gay players had 1.

To determine which sexuality is being catered to the most, it is more effective to look at the LIs own sexual orientation rather than the possible sexual orientation of the Inquisitor.

When these numbers are looked at it is currently 3/2/2, so currently there is one more straight LI.

Which means you now have the 'long end of the stick again'

That sounds horrible. I would prefer the Dalish are just naturally straight. A long time ago that was necessary but a lot of interprising people found a way around it even back then. If gay people have to do this in a culture than we can just go back to gay people are hated in Thedas, because there is no point in being accepted if that is at all required.

Because yes the pre industrial age was unpleasant, it was horrible in many ways but that type of logic leads to games that must have grit for grit sake and worst elements that are popping up in games continued for sake of history

'Dalish are naturally straight*' is somehow less hostile than gay men and women occasionally having sex with members of the opposite gender for the purposes of procreation?

I think being erased from existence is worse.

I've never been intimate with a man, but if it was something I agreed to do because I wanted a child, I wouldn't consider it 'horrible.' Is it really that bad? I know gay men who've had sex with women, and while none of them seemed thrilled with it, they also didn't seem to find it terribly disgusting or traumatic.

*As opposed to being unnaturally straight?

Yeah, but you see your position reeks of practicality and common sense, as opposed to blindly adhering to ideology. So you know, you're wrong

After all, it's not like there aren't plenty of gay men and women who to this day will sleep with members of the opposite sex purely so they can have children of their own.
