I was rewatching the first demo we had seen (PAX) and noticed Blood Lotus in the Western Approach. Here's my question for discussion: do we find the same plants/materials everywhere? Or do they vary by region? One would think that the same plants growing in a swamp would find desert conditions unsuitable unless they were incredibly hardy. I can see this being hand-waved in the name of expediency, and it's not a big deal. I do, however, think that the idea of materials varying by where you are would be really cool. Oh, you need this kind of extra-special ore? Cool. It only grows on Mount Whatever and you have to get through a cave that houses a particularly powerful demon bound in a statue or something (I'm sick of dragons) to get to the area with the ore. Or a really rare flower that only blooms in one place needed to cure someone's rare illness.

We see them pick up Blood Lotus in the Fallow Mire in the IGN demo Cameron did at Gamescom. It was right on the edge of the water, too. So it actually does look like there's at least one plant that'll be found in both the desert and the swamp. Of course, the PAX video is WAY older than the Fallow Mire video, so it could be gone from the Western Approach now.

Alchemy like TES or the Witcher would be great. But after DA2 my expectations towards that aspect of the game is pretty low.
