Throughout the ME3 missions that concerned the Geth-Quarian conflict, events consistently lent toward a sympathetic feeling to the Geth's side. Sure the Geth chased the Quarians off their own home planet, but;

1. The Quarians started the war because of a simple question asked by a single Geth unit who was becoming self-aware

2. The Geth were initially non-violent during this ordeal, until the Quarians had already begun killing them off

3. The Quarians killed many of their own people who rejected the notion that the Geth needed to be destroyed

4. The Geth spared the surviving Quarians that chose to retreat at the end of the Morning War

Throughout the trilogy, conversations with Quarians reveal quite a bit about their feelings concerning the past. ME1 conversations with Tali especially show that they have no regrets about declaring war with the Geth, and would likely have continued further if the Reaper threat had never materialized. Individually, the Quarians seem kinder than plenty of other aliens (at least Krogan and Batarian) but their leadership seems to be among the worst. While the current Quarian situation is understandably tough, continuously throwing themselves at the Geth while offering no form of mediation seems both stubborn and stupid.

Consider further that they wrote you off at Tali's trial in ME2, nearly killed you by taking down the Geth Dreadnaught in ME3 once you disable it, and it seems clear that the entire Quarian race reeks of desperation. They have literally no concern for anything other than the reclamation of Rannoch, and probably view the Reapers as only mildly more concerning than the Geth.

While this it's not too hard to comprehend their position, it is hard to feel any remorse for them. They created the Geth and then attempted to destroy them out of unsubstantiated fear. Their leadership showed unbreakable resolve in this decision, refusing to consider any alternative to war.

With how many times I've gone through the trilogy, I have found myself increasingly irritated with the Quarians. Initially I always tried to broker peace between them and the Geth, but lately I find myself saying fck it Quarians, you guys can get out, you deserve punishment for your treatment of the Geth. Plus your voices are annoying.

No.

Siding with the geth over the Quarians is a completely different matter, but you cannot rationally say that millions of men, women and children deserve to die simply because of what species they are.

Ha! I wrote a bunch about this but deleted it. The entire geth/quarian conflict in ME3 was so contrived that it simply isn't worth discussing.

No. We're talking about millions of people, including the entire civilian fleet. Even granting maximum sympathy to the geth, it's like wanting to wipe out Germany because of the Holocaust.

No they don't deserve to die.

If anything they deserve to be thrown in a corner with a dunce cap put over their head for attacking the Geth while the reapers invade the galaxy

We're talking about Geth babies here! I do not want Geth and Quarian synthesis to be not achievable. That's why I go with pece!

Where's DeinonSlayer?

He has some sort of spidey-sense when it comes to geth/quarian debates, and I bet it's tingling.

He'll be here soon.

To me personally... yes, because they are annoying fucks. Also, they tried to kill me. Other things notwithstanding, screw you suit rats.

To my Shepard... no. For all their faults, they suffered and wrong as they might have been in their intentions, killing them all is going over the top.

Doesn't mean it won't happen, every now and then. And when it does, I, the player, feel almost no remorse.

The real question is would you save the Geth then pick the Destroy ending?

Geth 1: Commander Shepard has made it on the the Citadel.

Geth 2: Do not worry, we know which ending he will choose. He helped us with the heretics, gave us better intelligence, and made use friends with our creaters.

(meanwhile, on the Citadel)

Child: You all constructed this, choose your path.

Shepard: (grips pistol... looks at all the colors... starts to walk)...

Why not? They're separate scenarios, after all.

Yep. Every time I chose the Geth, I chose destroy.

Sometimes my reasoning for choosing the Geth is due to their excellent position as soldiers. By the time I get to the ending they have fulfilled that roll.

As for the OP, I don't think the Quarians deserve to die. However, by the ending choice the arc has attacked them enough that I don't feel any sadness for seeing their species go extinct; especially considering that their final attack was once again being led by Han'Garrel. It isn't so much a choice between the Quarians or the Geth, but rather a choice between the Geth and our squadmate Tali.

I always have a difficult time choosing when I am at that part. Though I will say it has always been Synthesis or Destroy. Regardless, is this a soul or is it just...

Don't reward ignorance with death. The quarians are desperate and scared. I'm no quarian sympathizer but they don't deserve death because of a couple of cowards. It be a waste to let the quarians or the geth die. They have so much value and so much to offer the galaxy.

I'm in a ME3 where I can't make peace because Legion died in ME2. He was taken by the seeker swarm because I had Miranda hold the barrier. I could never figure out why they took Legion instead of Jacob. Jacob after all was more suited to their final goal of creating a human reaper. Oh well, so much for the Bioware plot. Wait, that's ME2 there is no plot.

So when I get to Rannoch I will have Geth VI and Tali.

Geth VI or my friend Tali, without whom, the Galaxy would have been gobbled up in 2183. Why? Her irrefutable evidence.

So little baby Larry, the Quarian is responsible for Han'Gerrel shooting at you? Okaaay...

I guess that means the Asari species, as a whole, is responsible for every Eclipse merc that tried to kill you. And because the Asari are annoying f*cks, clearly :P

I don't know if they deserve to die, but I'd pick the geth over the quarians at any time for many reasons.
