The whole thing with the Cassandra sex-gating was weird for a couple reasons, first because she was bisexual in DA2 (those who fought the Arishok one-on-one no doubt still remember that Cassandra had a crush on female Hawke after hearing about that from Varric) but also because she was a character that everybody wanted to romance, going all the way back to right after DA2 came out.  You could make the argument that sex-gating the character that most fans already wanted to romance, rather than one of the other characters they'd never heard of, was even worse than the act itself of changing her from bisexual to straight, since it's really just being intentionally mean to the fans who they knew wanted to romance her for a couple years or so now, it's not like sex-gating adds anything to the romances for those allowed to enjoy them, it just takes away from those who aren't.  But to the OP I would say don't despair, because I've romanced both Miranda and Morrigan as female PCs, you can do it too, it's not that hard if you know how  .

"Better" is subjective, but it's nice they actually had a cajones to make a female companion who is exclusively lesbian and not available to male PC's at all. I never thought I'd see the day, lol.

Actually I'm pretty sure a lesbian romance is waaaay less risky than a gay one because straight males and even homophobes are more accepting of it and find it "hot".

being a yuri fan its not because I find lesbians "hot" cause I mean really whats the point in thinking its hot? They don't need me lol But I like yuri in anime/games cause I think its cute and I also think in most media (games and anime) lesbian romance does romance right where in boy/girl romance (anime mostly) its nothing but one big perv joke after another

That depends on where you are. Being a lesbian in some parts of the world is not easy. Look up 'corrective rape' if you want more info.

I don't think they were saying being a lesbian in real life is easier, they meant including a lesbian romance. 

 

But I figured it would be more rare because even if homophobes find it "hot" they would also probably be the people who are the least willing to play as a female PC, so they would be upset that a potential LI wasn't available to them as male characters...Which is exactly what happened, if you noticed the fallout of Sera's reveal as a lesbian.

tbh, when a character's sexuality is announced, I tend stay away from BSN for a few days to avoid the fallout.  The fireworks would be fun to watch, but I don't want to get caught in the crossfire.

I figured that was why Bioware did what they did with Liara, and I also got the impression a lot of male players romanced her as femshep.

If you were here at all on the forums when it got revealed that Sera was a lesbian only companion, you would be amazed at all of the homophobia, sexism and entitlement that was being thrown around. Ignoring those kinds of reactions for fear of "insulting" the other men who are dick heads makes no sense, those men should be and a lot of them were just as appalled by that behavior.

Those kinds of reactions or behaviors are not tolerated, and showing an image to point out the ridiculousness of the "not all men" argument is not even remotely the same thing, do not make false equivalencies.

I've read so many posts made by girls who "liked to drunk men's tears" after Sera's sexuality reveal it's not even funny. Because at least here on BSN the number of guys who whinned about her being gay was smaller than number of girls who think that "drinking tears" is still edgy and cool. Many of guys who didn't expect it just said they would create a female Inquisitor
