I could also see Templars getting a Tranquil drunk just to make sure they're not pretending.

You know, I've always wondered why we've never seen something like this happen before to test if they're faking.

I could picture a particularly daredevil Apostate trying to apply a fake sun tattoo on their forehead and feign being Tranquil to try to escape a Templar patrol? And it'd would be even more funny if we ever heard this was how one mage escaped the Circle. Because apprentices being turned Tranquil without warning is a fairly regular thing for most Mages and Templars to see, no-one questioned it when a familiar face showed up with the brand on their forehead, asking in a monotone voice to be allowed outside to pick some herbs...

It's so ridiculous that it probably could work.

I'll get back with Gaiders answer if he answer about tranquils getting drunk.  I didn't ask if mages try to pass for being tranquil though. ;)

They're the most fun to hang around at parties.

Inquisitor walks by a Tranquil party, overhears

"And then she tripped *hiccup*"

"Ahaaaaaa"

*Inquisitor then proceeds to do one of those anime trip and upside down slips*

Of course they can. Just because they don't have any emotions doesn't mean they are unaffected by toxic substances.

I guess they don't get drunk though. Without emotions they would just experience coordination problems, reduced vision, decreased mental functionality, painful hang-over the next morning and in the long term liver damage without having any of the fun normal people experiece while getting drunk. Doesn't sound to good.

Well being drunk means your body is in intoxication state, I don't see any physical reasons why Tranquils couldn't get drunk. I don't think there would be big emotional changes though, I think it'd mostly affect in their ability to walk straight and speak and think clearly ^^

Even if they could a Traquil would be a very dull drunk.Always talking in a monotone voice.

Of course they can't. Didn't you know that a link to the fade directly affects one's ability to achieve inebriation? Looks like someone needs to study up.

The prisoner in the cage at Ostagar wants to make a suckers bet with you...

It's meant to be taken in shots!

They wouldn't even get drunk in the first place. There is no logic in it.

Tranquil: Yes, we do get inebriated upon the ingestion of alcohol. Though where as non-tranquil find inebriation to be an enjoyable state of mind, aside from ill effects in the morning after of course, we tranquil find the state to not hold any of it's enjoyable effects. yes we can taste the alcohol just fine but that's where it ends really, alcohol lets people get their emotions loose, at least their control over them, meanwhile, We by definition have our emotions; desires and fears cut off from our very beings and so, a tranquil ingesting alcohol will show no side-effects aside from a mild to painful headache depending on the quantity ingested.

I hope your query has been answered in a satisfactory manner.

Depends on what parts of the brain specifically are affected.  Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant.  Seems to me their central nervous system is already pretty depressed when it comes to emotional response.  Also whatever switch operates their magic in their heads is cut off from them.

Since their body doesn't seem to be, I imagine they could suffer the ill affects of physical drunkenness but since the part of their brain controlling the emotions and higher dream centers has been severed, most of the emotional responses (loosened inhibitions, impaired judgement etc) will not be affected.

So we have a stumbling, but clear headed drunk I should think?
