I was thinking about the weapon restriction (no peyoratives this time) could rend the weapon crafting useless. Why? because you could be spending hours crafting axes that you can not equip because you are a tank build who is FORCED to wear a sword... same if you choose the rogue.

So my big question is: was it really necesary to include such useless function?

You can craft more weapons than just axes, you know.

Nooo my hopes and dreams are being crushed. How will my Mage wield "better then vigilance" the sword I'm going to craft to replace my Mage wardens sword.

I know, but I like axes so i used them as example. Maybe some people preffer swords but they will be also useless because they choose rogue or mage as class.

Give them to your companions?  Only make weapons you can use?  ...  I don't get the objection.

Don't worry I feel your pain. I love having a sword wielding Mage. But the crafting wont be useless you can still craft things that your character can use and your companions can use.

I'm just highly disappointed with weapon restriction, and we don't know if the crafted weapons will be only for inquisitor's use yet... I'm planning to do the most tiresome replays of pure 2 handed weapon inquisitors (maybe some mages) and keep Varric or any other rogue in the team just for loot just because i can't use an axe with any other character.

will do when you stop double posting when there is a big EDIT button... I don't plan to hate DA:I but the first restriction is making me like it less. I hated DA2 because it was just a glorified demo of an unfinished incomplete game of snes and costed like if it was a full game, also because as a player i feel i had absolutely no power on anything that wasn't a suicide pinata begging to be hitten with an impossible animation... Weapon restriction is the first thing that comes, i hope NPC can hear what i am saying this time, not like useless hawke that everyone ignored

What are you even saying? How does restricting weapons by class make the crafting system useless?

I will, just have issues when not using a laptop to make correct edits. I have edits set when I use the laptop and the phone tends to fail or it double posts on occasion. They are at least not identical.

Regardless,  DA:I equipment will be about like the way DA:O is as far as equipment wise.

1) when they are identical is not the fault of the poster but the refreshment and package transference that makes it count as two posts instead of one

2) except for weapons...

weapons are class restricted, yes. Nothing will change on that for DA:I.  Maybe the next game they could lessen class restriction on weapons. I posted after your post in other thread about this. I prefer not repeating that one here. ;)

maybe it won't until they get more menaces from psycho child murderers... it worked once.

DISCLAIMER: since people here can't see the difference between an inoffensive rage fueled rant and a real menace i'm not approving or provoking these kind of approachs, just pointing what consequences may be triggered by bad development decisions

It is not a useless function. Just because your character can't use an ax doesn't mean nobody can. You have three companions who can. So just give it to one of them. Or if you don't use those companions, sell it for some gold. Either way, it is not useless to you or your cause since it is either a weapon for a companion or a source of income.

Hold on a tic. The bolded is a restriction that does not exist. Warriors can choose between swords and axes, one-handed or two-handed.

But yeah, like everyone else said, if you are a rogue, and you want to craft a weapon for PC, then craft a bow or a dagger. I understand you don't like the weapon restrictions, but that's completely independent of the crafting system.

You should always keep in mind what you can equip and what you can't. It's not just when crafting, you also do it when you're choosing to keep certain equipment for later use and other equipment to sell. It's just how it is.

Having said that, it would've been nice if we were not artificially restricted. It's disappointing(especially considering how they've said multiple times that they followed DA:O's example), but nothing you can do about it now. Your problem is not about weapon crafting and equipping, it's about class restriction.

Where has it been said there are no 1-handed axes? Also, will it not be possible to build a two-handed wielding tank? I haven't seen this myself...
