Let us look at the facts we have. 

 

Cassandra is a straight woman. For straight men like me who prefer romantic relationship with a straight woman, she is, so far the only option. The same goes for Cullen. For straight women who prefer romantic relationship with a straight man, he is, so far the only option.

 

Additionally, Cassandra is a former noblewoman who has, for all intents and purposes, rejected her birthright as a noblewoman. We did not see her mentioning the fact she is nobility in Dawn of the Seeker and we did not see her mention it in Dragon Age 2. In fact, people call her Seeker or Madam Seeker as opposed to Lady Cassandra or Lady Pentaghast. 

 

Furthermore, we have seen from Dawn of the Seeker, that should someone, regardless of their birthright and magical proficiency, prove themselves, she will develop some interest toward them.

 

Add this to the fact that Cassandra's story arc seems to be about finding her place in the world, reinventing herself, change, etc. Her character tarot card is Death after all and that is what Death is associated with. 

 

Which means that race gating Cassandra accomplishes nothing. She cares not for a man's race, she cares not for a man's magical proficiency or lack of proficiency unless the said man is a blood mage and she is under no obligation to fulfill any royal expectations.

So I decided to see who was the most popular of the LIs and companions and advisers and well I was bored, this is a list of how many pages each companions and adviser thread has whether they are a LI or not

I really like all of the LI's announced so far. I think they're all gorgeous. However, I will have to pass on Cassandra and Cullen since as an LGBT player, I don't really find much enjoyment in playing a heterosexual PC when I've got the option not to.

 

I'm romancing Dorian and the Iron Bull right away, probably. 

 

This.  I came out in my teens when before Ellen did, and grew up in an age when representations of people like me were nowhere at all, and so it's very, very much a happy novelty for me still to have this option.  I'm playing five playthroughs, so I'll probably get to Cassandra eventually (probably with my human noble Chantry moralist), but I think my other four will be same-sex ones.

 

Dorian's my favourite so far.  I think I'll really like him.

Cass, Sera, Cullen. They're the only ones I'm really interested in romancing, plus maybe Bull with a dwarven lady. I don't really find him attractive, but I think the romance arc would be interesting (plus sexual dimorphism is hawt  ).

This. ( I'd say more but it isn't needed. ) In the Cullen thread for example, they talk about absolutely everything. Twitter, gameplay, news, real life, everything that happens everyday, a lot of things that have nothing to do with Cullen. Not that I disagree. it's just that a thread being more active than another doesn't really mean anything. Isabela has only 600 pages after years and yet she was actually one of the most popular characters. 

 

 

Plus, don't forget that thread is the 3rd incarnation, with the previous ones also being in the thousands of pages. So that thread already had people talking long before the talk of LI's came up. In school he'd be the one in trouble for throwing the bell curve 

 

Also yep, a few of the others started new, fresh threads. But the page count was a good exercise. If we had a thumbs-up emoti I'd use it here.

 

I'm still sad for Varric fans. I'm one of them (I peek into the thread but don't usually post in there) but couldn't make up my mind if I wanted him to have a romance or not because of Bianca. I *really* wanted him to have one in DA2. If anything, I think he deserves one, so since he's not going to get one with the Inquisitor maybe we can help him find Bianca.. and if we can, she'd better still be the woman he thinks she is, because I couldn't stand for him to have his heart broken.

 

While I find Solas extremely interesting in both looks and his specialty, it's more from a player perspective and not a romance one. But this is coming from a woman who didn't think she'd be able to romance an alien in ME and took to Garrus like a duck to water - no Shepard without Vakarian! So I'm hoping it'll be the same, and his personality will "wow" everyone who is still on the fence about it. 

 

I do hope Mr. Laidlaw does try to get the remaining 2 mysteries out of the way. I know some are really worried about it and it would help them finish planning their Inquisitor play throughs and perhaps concentrate on the game itself.

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if my first inquisitor won't wind up romancing anyone, honestly. One of the key aspects of his character is how relatively young and inexperienced he is (early, mid-twenties Circle Mage), and all the LIs so far look like they'd be at least 10 years his senior.

I guess I'll see how it goes, but I doubt the Inquisitor's going to be pulling a Mrs. Robinson any time soon.

can't wait to romance Josephine Montilyet  She's gorgeous, I just hope advisor LI's (Cullen and Josie) have the same amount of screentime/content as the companion LI's. I heard that they do, but I'm looking forward to meeting her.

Bioware said the adviser romances have just as much content as the companion romances you just can't take them with you on quests. So it should be just as rewarding

So I guess my inquisitor will be roaming skyhold to find and talk to her, perhaps they may be small quests including the advisors to get to know them better. Or just Josephine since she's the new girl.

Unfortunately, none of the male romances currently available to my inquisitors are aesthetically pleasing to me (which is not to say that others might not find them very handsome), but I do think Sera is really cute and am so glad she's available to my female quizzy!
