So I've decided on playing as a female Elf for my 1st PC

so when it was revealed that Iron Bull could be romanced by any race or gender

at that point I decided to play as an elf

But I've recently been thinking that a normal DA:O, DA:2  romance just wouldn't feel right to me

as Iron Bulls personalty wouldn't feel suited to a normal type romance.

So I'm thinking of playing as a Elf Mage as it was revealed in some interview with Freddy Prince Jr that Iron Bull has a fear of Magic.

So I'm thinking of having my PC be a total ****** to Iron Bull then have a hate filled romp that would be awesome.

What would be even better would be if I could go with Sera then cheat with Iron Bull that would be hilarious,

oh what fun

anyway thanks for reading

Since Varric is confirmed not to be an option (*wails and rends garments*) my Inquisitor will be consoling herself with the Iron Bull.

(I am more grateful than ever for all those long hours John Epler put in to make that possible  .)

Mark Darrah interview with the Swedish version of IGN.

(Yes, they refused to tell us one way or the other for months and months and then told Swedish IGN. No, I have no idea why. Yes, I'm slightly exasperated with their method of conveying this information.)

In a swedish interview with Laidlaw and Darrah.

I'm torn about Cass and Josie for my first run. Though I'pl probably try every romance path later.

im a guy and i play male characters 90% of the time. i wish they would just make a normal girl.

leliana - the creepy religious girl with a dark past she wont reveal (i need a girl who is up front and honest. none of this "oh btw i was a secret orlesian assassin," when im already commited to the relationship)

morrigan - super ****** (ive tried multiple times to bring her into the realm empathy but it never works out)

Isabella - super ****** (even by the time you guys have a relationship, she still makes jokes about sleeping around. im looking for an exclusive relationship, honey)

Merrill - completely innocent and socially retarded (stahp)

contenders -

Cassandra - Aveline 2.0 (noty)

Vivienne - im not into chicks who support the circle

Sera - the only one appealing but shes female only romance option. (crap)

then there is the female adviser too, that we dont know much about.

Normal, what does that mean?Every person has a distinct personallity.

Just because most people are used to see women in gaming be "I'm here only a sexual object with no personallity and I'm just a girl to be saved by the main hero"  doesn't mean women should be represented like that in games.

You could say the same thing about male romances:

Alistar - has commitment and self esteem issues.

Zevran - same points you raised about Isabella (no pun intended, sorry I have this problem, every time I write about Isabella I have to make a sex pun)

Fenris - has a dark past and hates all mages and his biggest wish is to kill his former master

Anders - Possesed emotionally unstable mage who makes you (without telling you anything about it) help him destroy the chantry

Dorian - A rebel that rejects every single stereotype that has been thrown at him (that's the opposite of "normal in society)

Iron Bull - Same points as Isabella and Zevran.

Still, no matter the brilliant flaws these characters have, we all love them, because they're all unique. Not some "normal" generic person that's there for the main PC to have sex with. They're real people, with interesting personallities.

But, alas, I can deeply relate to the opression of the straight male gamer in video games, who just can't find...a "normal" woman.A question: What do you mean when you say normal?

EDIT: I love your Nug avatar.

It's a matter of opinion on what normal meant. For example, I disagree with your definition of normal based on what you wrote.
Plus, your reason of not liking Vivienne and Cassandra has nothing to do with her not being normal.

ETA: the link is here but it's in Swedish.

My real quick translation:

There seems to have been a bit of uncertainty regarding whether the fan favourite Varric is available for romance. Is it possible to clarify today?

Mark: It won't be possible to romance him. But there is a reason for that.

Mike: I think this is the first time we say this, so it'll be you who get to face the tears of the fans. He already has somebody, so to speak.

Mike: It's something we've been very careful with. When we started developing Inquisition, we really took in feedback from fans and listened close. We went with our hunches about what people seemed to hold dear in the Dragon Age franchise. We know that if we were to remove certain features, we will disappoint a lot of fans. Varric is one such thing. Many fans wish to fall in love with him, while others do not. So as we say 'no' today, that is a 'no' based on a lot of thought.

Honestly, I want to romance the one who might hurt me the most. I went for Alistair in Origins (and yes, got that ending] on my first run, and then Anders on my second.

Flowery unicorn romances are for replays. On my first, I want the writing team to hurt me. I hope I'll be lucky to keep up the tradition!

I will never ever romance some super-sexual Character (because I can't stand super-sexual People), so Iron Bull is out.

I don't think I can accurately roleplay homosexual Characters, so Sera and Dorian are out.

I do not find Cassandra and Solas attractive, personally, so they are most likely out.

Blackwall is too old. He is out.

There you have it: I will probably have my Characters romance Vivienne (if romanceable), Cullen and Josephine. And I'm totally fine with that.

@ the OP

... I have no idea? I plan to role at least three males and two females if the 5 slot Keep limit holds true. I'm seriously hoping they increase it to six relatively quickly. I'll play all four female romance options and one or two of the males (if we get that sixth Keep slot). Josephine, Cass, and Vivi with the males. Iron Bull for my femVashoth, and one lesbian elf or dwarf for Sera. If we get six opened up, no idea who the other one will be. The only characters I think are really attractive romance options are Sera and Josephine, but I plan to play a different one every playthrough unless something just surprises me. Vivi would be attractive apart from her politics.

From the promo stuff, I really wish they'd tone down Cass' and Josephine's jawlines (or females other than Vivi, Leliana, and Sera, all look right). No human or elven character's jaw should be as wide as their cheekbones, or certainly not wider. That's really weird, even as an exaggeration. I think they addressed that with Morrigan's model already. Cass in the trailors looks really funky with it.

Edit: Number six would be Solas. Seems interesting. If I end up really not liking the fem options, Solas might replace Cass. I don't know if I'd really get into a character that's romancing her just yet. Hope they tweak her jaw, seriously.

Four Inquisitors, four romances

I'm only certain that my male rogue/warrior Tal-Vashoth will romance Cassandra (they're both andrastian "Aries", so it's gonna be a blast. Probably literally) and my female rogue/warrior Vashoth will romance the Iron Bull (also quite similiar, she's more... quirky tho)

My female dwarf Baldquisitor will romance someone who cares about the people and knows how to deal with money. She's like the Mommy figure to all her followers and also a business woman. Maybe Sera, if she proves to be responsible. Or Iron Bull? If he proves to be caring. Cullen? Mmmh, I dunno, I don't like him. Ideally - Blackwall the Daddy figure, but he's not gonna be a LI, I don't think so. It's really quite tough to choose... Not Vivienne for sure, tho. Politics is not her thing

My male Dalish mage will probably stay alone. He's keen on making a family, with elven kids and traditions and stuff. And since Sera is not into guys and Solas, well, can't give birth to anything beyond magic spells... Though it might be fun to romance Vivienne or Dorian. Opposites, sometimes, do attract?

My fifth Inquisitor will be a self-insert and I will romance the guy I like the most. And it's definitelly not going to be Cullen, ugh. Hm, maybe IB or Solas...

The type they have in the game, hahahah

I don't know, I like many kinds. Off the top of my head: something that's NOT all 'we could never be~*'. Something fun and flirty but with someone who's not afraid to say 'hey i like you/love you, we should be together' etcetc. But that doesn't mean much since I've enjoyed almost all the romance content in the games so far (and Zevran's was my favorite). Only ones I didn't like that much were Leliana and Merrill's, but that's because I don't like them as characters as much, not because their romance content was bad.

Oh, as for the LIs that are here now: Well, if Blackwall is a romance, no question about it, I will romance him. But if not, then I'll give Dorian a go first. I'm really tempted to try out Iron Bull's romance too, but I'd like to see how the gay exclusive romance is first. Then Cullen, Cassandra...etcetcetc

A very bitter one without Varric.  The wound is fresh, I'll get over it...

Once I'm over it, Solas better watch out..

I am planning a female Human Mage Inquisitor first, who is gonna romance Cullen. I play female characters mostly, so Iron Bull and possibly Solas are on my list, if the latter is confirmed as a LI. If I decide to play as a male Inquisitor later, I might go with Cassandra first.
