The anime happens in year 22 of the Dragon Age. Cassandra interrogates Varric 18 years later. and DA:I happens 5 years after that. Cassandra was deffinatly in her 20s in that movie, so that would mean she is closer to 50 than 40. I can't see a teen killing dragons right an left.
What type of romance are you going for?

I really have no idea until I get in game and see who is most appealing personality wise. My preference (going by looks) is definitely Blackwall but who knows if he's even available. Cullen maybe, or Dorian if I play as a male. I don't even know what sort of Inquisitor I'm going to play yet.

Bromance is the best kind of romance.
Cullen/f!Cadash forever.
If somehow though Cullen isn’t turned on by the dwarven +25% MAGIC RESISTANCE, she will join team nomance along with my m!Hawke and f!Surana. ![]()
EDIT: Unless his romance is written poorly. If its god-awful terrible then I'm a nomancer all the way.

Sweet one, Aerie and Merril type. Though there are no such women options available for straight males.

I'll be romancing all of them at some point.
As to which Inquisitors:(subject to change)
Cullen - Human Mage
Cassandra - Dwarf Warrior
Ironbull - F!Qunari Mage
Josephine - M!Elf Rogue
Dorian - Elf Rogue
Sera - Qunari Rogue

I don't think there is this time-jump between Varric's interrogation and the start of DA:I. Assuming she's born in year 0 of the Dragon Age (making her 22 in the DotS movie), she would be 40/41 at the start of the DA:I

I actually usually avoid romance my first playthrough.
Otherwise, none of of the romance options have even mildly interested me, so my poor Inquisitor may be loveless lol. ![]()
There will never be another Fenris, for me. I kinda hope the last two romance options are new characters and that they don't announce a damn thing about them before the game and maybe one of those will be intriguing to me. If not, I'll haz the sadz a little bit but I will have a huge game to play and I'll get it over it. I was holding out hope for Varric but that has been dashed to bits as well, so...my Inquisitor may just be singing "Dancin' With Myself" ![]()

NONE. Goddamn romances are all people talk about on these forums. Truth is, they're just a gimmick, a novelty. I'd rather be actually playing the game properly (killing demons and the good stuff), or be on a real date with a real person. But people can do what they want I suppose, it is their gaming experience after all, I just find they idea of grown human beings falling in love and growing overly attached to a bunch of pixels on a screen which doesn't exist and never will kinda weird.
Warped perception. Scroll down Scuttlebutt, I can count 2 threads about romances out of however many there are.
People are interested in romances in BioWare games because it's something they do that's a little unique and different to other RPGs. Besides, if that was all people cared about they actually would just play dating simulators.

People are free to play games for whatever reasons they want. They are also free to talk about different aspects of the game. If you don't want to romance anyone in game, you are free to experience great storyline, kill demons and do the good stuff. You are also free to share your opinion. But remember: not everyone who romances companions in-game is a anti-social grown-up with a child mind in real life. So, please, be so kind to continue expressing your frustration with the "goddamn romances" in the calm exclamation-marks-free way you have just exhibited.

50 years old ? Damn. Wynne had magical bosom. Cassandra seems to have a magical body.
So Cassandra is a MILF romance ? or is it SILF romance ? Seeker I'd Like to F***... ![]()

Exactly. My favorite thing in RPG games is crafting builds and roleplaying.
Unfortunately, Bioware does not want to release any info on skill trees and they have only done one Combat video so far.
So since I do not have the thing I want to talk about the most, I talk about romances.
When moar gameplay, skill tree, RP stuff is released, I will talk about those.

On topic: my first Quizzy will be a female human mage with almost Anders-level of pro-maginess and anti-Chantriness so I'm going to try and romance Cullen (yep, I love challenges!)
Second will be female Qunari mage and I'm going to ride romance Iron Bull.
If Solas is a LI, then the third one will be a female elven mage. If not, then female elven rogue who romances Iron Bull (because size differences...)
If Blackwall is a LI, then I will romance him last with human rogue or elven mage.
Of course, we don't know race-gated LIs, so this is only a rough draft.

So Cassandra is a MILF romance ?
Most of the companions are on the older side this time. Cass, Blackwall and Solas are in their 40s, Cullen, Varric and Leliana are at the very least in their mid-to-late 30s if not straight up in their 40s too... we don't know how old Sera, Josie, Vivienne and Dorian are, but none of them look like springly young babies either. Cole is probably the only real kid in his early 20s or such around.

A pro-mage female Qunari. That is an awesome setup for a rebel Inquisitor. You should make her not have horns as well. It adds to the whole "I am different, I cannot be pigeonholed" Inquisitor you seem to want to build.
Bull is not gated so don't have to worry about him. The thing you have to worry about Bull is his PTSD and his fear of demons and the undead, which can be problematic if you choose to be a Necromancer Mage.

That is interesting since I plan to roll Inquisitors in their mid 20s or look like they are in their mid 20s. I am 22 so I can relate to people in their 20s more.
It would be fun to be a young leader or leaders.
Let's hope the LIs that are available can handle young and youthful exuberance.

If I play as a male Qunari first time round, I hope for a forbidden romance with Cassandra, It's an interesting concept for a human Andrastean and a Qunari who most people see as the biggest threat to their homelands and beliefs. I do not know if Bioware will go to that level with the romances but that is what I like in romances being similar to Hawke's and Merrill's relationship in terms of both being so racially and culturally foreign to each other.

I am going to play it like I always play Bioware games with romances, just let it happen and not plan it out. I think planning something specifically when we really don't know the characters that well kind of ruins it for me. I will just let things fall where they may and see what happens.

I am sad that I cant romance Varric, but hey thats what fan fiction is for lol. So I have a choice between Cullen and Iron Bull! A really hard choice, unless Cullen is race gated against dwarves then IB will be my leading man. If Cullen isnt race gated then I am going to have a hard time deciding who to romance in my first Dwarven play through. Same goes for my Female Qunari/Dalish/human Mage!
