Hello.  I'm hoping to find some regular players who would tolerate and perhaps mentor a learning but "serious" player.  I've been playing Mass Effect since the original, and just started playing ME3 MP the day before yesterday.  I'm on a PC with the current version installed, and all the "free" MP add-ons.  I live in the Pacific Standard Time zone, and have played mostly Bronze and some Silver over the last couple of days.  Getting killed often on Silver unless my team mates are strong and team-aware.  Prolly shouldn't get so crazy on the Vanguard charges but *shrugs* no guts no glory, eh?  Still getting used to the differences between SP and MP, building up decent weapons and supplies so I can buff up for more intense SIlver, and eventually, Gold matches.

If you're interested, please message me here or e-mail me at funkymonk002@hotmail.com.  In game, I'm Elindarion, and favor my Vanguards, Toga (human) and Kahli Marie (tentacle-headed ... lady?).  I also enjoy my Salarian Infiltrator, Pokey Solus.  They all wear Iron Man Orange/Yellow base colors, so I can be recognized.

 

It's a bummer (and also a relief) that there's no communication in-game without Voice Chat.  I guess we could use this thread to discuss stuff, should anyone take me up on my request?

Heh, don't be.  Development/technical project leadership was WAY more fun and satisfying.  No matter how dork the politics got, at least you (most of the time) had a product you and your team could be proud of.  IT strategic planning and policy = arguing politely as the expert to be toppled by IT and business folks alike.  If I had to do it all over again, I'd "stay back on the farm."  Mo money and "prestige" are overrated; doing what you enjoy is WAY more important.

Having done all that sure does enhance my perceptions of these games.  Watching them evolve as superb IT products over the years has been almost as fun as playing them.

Sorry, I'm jealous of the "retired" part. I've been in IT for over 20 years and I'm sick of it. I just took 6 months off to try and retool my life but it looks like I'm being pulled right back into IT again...

Ah ... well, I must admit,  free time can be great if you have a lot to do, but, heh, it's the downtime between missions that can get to ya sometimes .  Hope it works out well.

ScribbleFox:  I'll need to build up decent weapons and mods, stock up on mission buffs, read up more and practice quite a lot more before I'd be anything but a hobble in Gold.  I did better on Silver last night with my Vanguard, but it's a pretty straight forward class to become decently effective with.  I unlocked the Asari Valkyrie Sentinel on my second day and find the class interesting and fun.  It will take a while to get her down though.  All in good time; practice, practice.  That being said, I'm back to it

I would love to help you out as well. I usually play with a solid group but a few have dropped out and it always is nice to take someone under wing considering someone did that for me when I first started playing.

 

If you are interested my Origin ID is Libramentum and aside from the in game chat you can have a text chat with people who are added as your friends. Many a time I spent getting to know fellow gamers between matches. Some I have made some lasting friendships with.

Wow, thanks for the replies, all.  Was away for a couple of days and whammo.

Having an issue obtaining the Reckoning DLC and I think it's interfering with me playing with folks who already have it.  Stupid screen here just displays blank when I choose "PC" download.  Maybe the HD will have a resolution.

So the term is "pugging," eh?  Hmm.

Nice to see this kiind of gaming spirit.  I encountered this back when the original Shogun Total War was still being played online, learned from some greats, taught some greats.  Still friends with a lot of those guys today; never met 'em once.  Funny how that can work, eh?

Yeah, it's annoying.  Made a couple of puglets but they successfully DL'd the DLC and now I can't run around with them anymore.  Is there anywhere else I can get it?

 

No response from EA.  I see that hasn't changed for the better since the STW WE days.

 

Hopefully this will sort soon enough and I'll be able to rock with y'all soon enough.

Try https://social.biowa...om/page/me3-dlc  This was the old Bioware DLC page before Origin bought them out.  May have to create a Bioware ID/profile which can be the same as your Origin--if you still can.  It's a long shot.  Maybe something in the BSN tech support forum from other BSNers with similar issues.  Unfortunately, don't think EA or Bioware is answering any support issues anymore for ME3.  So you can't download any DLC from within the game on Downloadable Content?  Maybe an uninstall/reinstall/repair of Origin and/or ME3?  How did those other pugs download the DLC?

Another thought:  Start Origin, click on My Games, then ME3.  Should see an " i " button.  Click on it.  it should show a list of all installed/available DLC.  Right click on the DLCs you want and select install.

That did the trick .  Downloading Reckoning now.  Silly interfaces, or am I just old ... don't answer that.

Heh, last night's session I didn't shoot much.  I unlocked the N7 Slayer Vanguard.  He carries a one-shot Executioner pistol which he almost never uses.  He likes to twist and shout in private and is so good at it, it literally knocks the competition off their feet for miles around.  If he likes someone, BOOM!--> |  "Hi, I'm Elin, how're you?"  Unfortunatey, I'm so good looking they just fall over and die.  Someone annoys: talk to the (Phase Disrupting) hand.  The love gun only comes out for those really persnickety b-words that don't fall for any of my other features.  Just wish the sidearm came with Vorcha sound effects.

Some just aren't happy with anything.  But I like this Class!

I tried but doesn't seem to find "09_Trooper."  Is this the handle you use in game?

 

Edit: ah ... maybe AndWeAreDoneHere is what I should be looking for.  Gaming is fun, but sleep is good too.  Kinda necessary, actually.
