I'm creating this thread in the hopes that it will provide all a general space to discuss Dragon Age related news, including videos, features, tweets, and so on. Basically, it's because the Twitter thread keeps veering towards this anyway. Hopefully, it will be allowed to stay open. For deep, deep discussion of topics, I would think specific threads would still be best.... For all else, we will have...the water cooler. I will try to keep things somewhat updated in the OP, but no promises. Please keep all discussion (and disagreement) civil.

Twitter Thread (your source for tweeted news)

NEWS & Announcements (Updated with most recent news)

8/23

-Varric is not romanceable.

-There have also been a slew of gameplay videos from Gamescom coming out now that the embargo was lifted.

-Console radial menu will not give access to abilities - map them to face buttons (8 total) or don't use 'em

Videos

Dragon Age Inquisition Trailers

Fun Videos

Gameplay Feature Videos

E3 Footage

Gamescom Official Videos

Gamescom Fan Videos

Okay, let's see if this works.

If this seems to general, I guess go ahead and lock it mods. Just trying to give people a place to chatter since that continues to be something that seems to want to happen.

I have no idea whether this will take off and I'm giving it 70/30 odds the mods lock this.

That said, I approve.

This water cooler sounds like a good idea. We can freak out in here and post tweets in the twitter thread.

Allowing this thread to remain open, at least in a trial format, may increase EP's lifespan by at least two years. Please, think of EP.

Varric being an LI was not happening.

Yeah.

The other reason I created it here is that stuff in Off-Topic, as far as I can tell, doesn't get seen because it seems like most people just come to Scuttlebutt for things.

Okay, so I'll start with a chatter topic:

I'm not upset about Varric, but I can sympathize with those that do. Ultimately, I'm sure he'll still be a great character.

And maybe...MAYBE...we will get a dwarven romance option someday. But seriously, no need to be rude to designers. Which leads into a related chatter topic:

People being rude to Gaider. WHY? It's not like he writes EVERYTHING, and they must have at least considered it and had good reasons for their decision.

Don't be jerks. Be disappointed, but don't be jerks.

I approve, if for no other reason than to avoid giving poor Elitepinecone a stroke as he valiantly tries to curb persistent chatter on the twitter thread ;)

Regarding David Gaiders tweet about rude messages and asking if a Varric announcement was made: poor guy! You'd think the devs doing the reveals would give him a heads up ^.^

Haha, this isn't the first time Mr. Gaider's been caught unawares of announcements and received sudden intolerable heaps of intolerance. My condolences to him. My condolences to the big-time Varricmancer fans first and foremost, but still.

Haha, poor Mr. Gaider. Must have been a shock why, all out  of sudden, he gets messages regarding Varrics romance.

Edit: Whoops, that wasn't directed at me after all! I was wondering if I'd added an identifier to EP in my post...!

"Varricmancers"

:D

I think they coined it themselves! It seems like a pretty popular schtick. Talimancers, Mirimancers. Myself, I'm partial to the phrase "Thanemites," but they never really appreciated my suggestion.

Now I want to build on this.

Alistairians.

Morrigamists.

Lelianolics.

Merrillians.

Isabellians.

Fenrists.

Andersi.

Sebastianauts.

Cullenites. Oh, this is already taken. Good show, Cullenites, good show.

Alright, it's out of my system for now.

Ah yes, the good times when the ME3 character forums got closed down.

What happened to the character threads anyways after they go closed? Did the people had to make groups to discuss the characters? Because I can't see any fan thread at the new Story/Character forum.

I dont understand why some people take romance so seriously to the point to bother the creators. Nagl

They were all banished to the netherworld. It was just too difficult to keep control of that section in the ME3 aftermath (overrun by trolls). Chris Priestly finally gave up and locked the whole thing.

think they ended up in the General Discussion (now Scuttlebutt) board somehow? I don't really recall. I bumped into them once a few months ago and was kind of shocked when it happened. The groups most likely still exist, though.

I kinda doubt this will catch on, since when you see a tweet or a piece of news, you'll reply on the forum you saw it on, you won't go looking for other forums to say something..

That's my concern, and I think ultimately that's more likely to occur. Still, it's a really nice attempt at dispelling an issue and I can't begin to count the number of times I've really wanted to say something in that thread and then remembered how many times in the past 48 hours I'd said something that further deviated the thread from its purpose and opted to keep my "mouth" shut. If there's an inkling of a glimmer of a hope this'll work as intended, and the mods don't decide to shut it down once they catch wind of it, well, I'll do my best to support it.

A very good idea, also will provide a place to answer some questions and share things when people have questions about topics.

Since can get in trouble in other threads for helping out with new related topics and so on.

Hopefully this takes off.

Think the first bit of news to talk about is Varric or something not being romanable?
