The most important lession I learnt on the internet is "Do not care about the unconstructive, hateful comments people make about you or your race/religion/sexuallity/etc. with no valid reason for it"
It is the internet. The internet is pretty much like the real world unmasked + real world anonymous.
See, in reality, we all have identities, we are not anonymous. So people generally have a sense of decorum, if only to appear nice and polite.
Online, we are all anonymous. Sure you can track someone but it is not as easy as it is in the real world. Hence that little sense of decorum can go away.
I personally like the internet this way. Back in the real world, we pretend too much to each other. We twist our words to make them as polite as possible instead of just being ourselves.
Here though, you can know who is an idiot and who is not..at least their virtual identities...I like that...There is some sense of comfort in people being a lot more themselves...
