Gah ... they all seem so interesting. The only one that has yet to really peak my interest is Blackwell but that's probably because we don't know much about him other than the fact that he's an aging Grey Warden.

I generally like to roll with two mages, so when I am not playing a mage myself I'm thinking the forerunners will be Vivienne and Dorian (but I bet Solas has a lot to say about the Fade, which I am equally interested in ... thus my conundrum).

I'm slightly more interested in Varric and Cole than I am Sera, but that could easily change.

And I'm leaning towards Cassandra as my warrior for storyline reasons but she'll eventually be replaced by Iron Bull when I romance him. And who knows, maybe Blackwell will surprise me.

So in short ... all of them I guess?

It's hard to say without playing the game and experiencing the characters for myself.

However, if I were to choose:

Inquisitor (Warrior - DPS)
Cassandra (Warrior - Tank)
Sera (Rogue)
Vivienne (Mage) / Blackwall (Warrior - Undecided)

Hard to say until I actually get to know them in the game, but my initial idea is:

Inquisitor (human warrior; sword and shield)
Cassandra (here's hoping she can do fine with a greatsword)
Varric
Vivienne

Pretty much this unless I change my mind come release and play as a Mage. In that case, I'd switch Vivenne for maybe Blackwall.

This is all totally subject to change upon actually meeting the companions and getting to know them, but for now I'm thinking:

Human Mage (Knight Enchanter)
Dorian
Varric
Blackwall/Cassandra

Though I really want to try a party with Cole and Solas together so I'll take them out together quite a bit as well.

My plan is to my Mage Inquisitor supported by Iron Bull, Cassandra and Sera. If it turns out I only need one melee during combat, I'll switch Cassandra with Vivienne. That would be the group most of the time. I also intend to switch a few times if I feel like a particular companion could have uniquie content in the upcoming mission. We'll see how this plan holds up in the actual game, though. :)

I am really intrigued by Cole and Dorian, so they will be in for sure.

Since Vivienne or Solas might be interesting, Im thinking of playing Warrior or Rogue. Between those, I think I will go for a male warrior, since Iron Bull I find less interesting (although more fun, for a second run), Cassandra I think will be a little boring, so its only Blackwall....

I dont know, I think:

- Male warrior Inquisitor

- Cole

- Dorian

- (most interesting character once met)

I plan on romancing Josie, and this would be my playthrough, with my personality.

Then I will go for the fun run:

- Sarcastic inquisitor

- Iron bull

- Sera

- Varric

Too much awesome

"Who's going to be in your crew, first play-through?"

Um ...... all of them! I always recruit everyone on the first pass in order to at least begin getting a decent "feel" for their individual characterizations, before I can settle upon any personal favorites for subsequent playthroughs. At this point, we don't know enough about them to limit our ongoing party options (200 hrs give or take, is a long journey), unless that's just your thing?

Everyone. I've never played a game with companions in which I haven't swapped 'em out as per growing suspicions that someone will suddenly get extra content on an upcoming mission.

This is pretty much me, except I take it a step beyond where if I found out based upon hinted dialogue if I had someone from Red Jenny or someone knowledge on the Fade with me in the first place, I'll restart the quest just to see if a more desirable outcome would have happened if I took Sera or Solas (depending on the kind of character I'm playing)

Everyone, but I definitely have 3 main parties set up in terms of initial interest in characters.

A Party: Sera, Dorian & Cassandra

B Party: Varrick, Vivienne & Blackwall

C Party: Solas, Cole & The Iron Bull

But I plan to mix them up a lot. In DAO and DA2 I was bad about just sticking to my favorites and only subsequent playthroughs did I get to experience the other party members well. It wasn't until ME3 that I finally learned to mix up my party a lot and in a way that benefited the story and my gameplay experience without having to sacrifice anything major.

I'm not sure, the previews so far haven't grabbed me very hard towards any of them (I am put off Cass and Viv, and do not like any of the advisers tho) So..yea the list of 'do not wants' out weighs the 'wants' by a huge margin.

No warriors. After Laidlaw's comment about how the whole game was designed around the tank/support/dps combination (which I loathe), I feel the need to subvert that.
