Define: remastered
I wouldn't buy the whole ME trilogy again just for updated graphics. But if they went to the effort of bringing all the games to a uniform gameplay experience, i.e.: remastering ME and ME2 to have the same gameplay as ME3, with adapted character abilities, movement gameplay, respectively redesigned levels, a uniform morality system (ME3's system is vastly superiour to its predecessors imho) and then upgraded visuals on top of all that, I would most definately consider it.
In truth, just thinking about playing ME1 with all its story strenghts but with the gameplay of ME3 gets me salivating.
So you want an HD remake, not just a remaster. I'll admit, that does sound pretty awesome. I don't see any possibility of anything other than an audio-visual upgrade on the original trilogy, but that doesn't make it less cool.
-I'm not sure how I feel about redesigning the levels. ME1 was worse than DA2 for copy & pasting "dungeon" maps, but I, along with many others, were sad to see the outdoors planet exploration segments go away. Those would be a lot better if the Mako's physics and controls were completely redesigned, but one of the things I like about it is that you were often in firefights where there was not a conveniently-placed arrangement of waist-to-head height boxes laid about for you to take cover and progress toward the goal. ME3-level powers and sniper weapon abilities would really work well for those engagements.
-I miss ME1's enemies having the same or similar powers as my squad. In ME1 I've been hit with Overload, Stasis, Push (although it just knocks you on the floor in-place), Warp, Sabotage and probably others.
-Shields/barriers in ME1 behave more in-line with lore. Melee attacks don't affect shields, instead damaging health directly, as do some weapon mods and Warp. Shields also have no affect on physics; a shielded enemy can be lifted with biotics and sent flying with a shotgun blast. On the subject of shields/barriers, the only difference between a "Shield" and a "Barrier" is that a "Shield" is a mass effect field created by a machine or synthetic while a "Barrier" is a mass effect field generated by a the use of an organic's element zero nodules and biotic amp. They are both mass effect fields and should be functionally similar. I suppose you could make the argument that the reason for certain powers/weapons affecting each differently is that the effect is enacted on the source rather than the field itself, but this is never explained in-game.
