...felt offended or a bit pissed/upset about how every man points out that your "just" a "woman" or "female"? RL, I'm a male and I'm curious about any thoughts or opinions on the issue. I am currently playing a female mage for the first time an everyone assumes less of me because of my sex or my class. I feel like murdering them all. Never had a problem as a male mage, unless it was elves, Templars, or chantry lovers.

My memory is probably a bit dodgy here but - the only times I remember are Loghain telling you you're pretty for a grey warden (but this was modded back in). It takes place in Ostagar if you talk to him at his tent. Actually now I've started this my memory is firing on more cylinders and yes, your'e right. Murdock, Jory, Daveth etc
However, if my GW got offended every time this happened she'd have a serious headache by the end of the game. Just because people hold these beliefs doesn't mean my Couslands have to abide by them. Like my english professors used to say - 'show don't tell'. I think Caradoc 2000 also said this to me.

Loghain pointing out that F!Cousland is "pretty for a Warden"?
That creepy Colbert (one of the hunters who points you to Knotwood Hills) propositioning a female Warden?
Nah, hadn't noticed it all. /snark
(And doesn't "Knotwood Hills" sound like the name of a down-market subdivision?)
Knotwood huh? Maybe that's what you should threaten him with rather than rivets? ![]()

I don't recall any nasty comments based on gender, except from Arl Howe (who's supposed to be a dick). Plenty of slurs aimed at knife-ears, but not women.

I never really noticed comments on my pc being female. Then again I'm usually just a knife ear. Or they just didn't offended me.

Have I noticed? Yes. Did I mind/get offended? No, not really. I also take into account the time era that we're supposed to be in, and that was definitely the mind set against the female gender.
And then it makes me feel good knowing that a woman was able to pull off what all these men couldn't and I get a smug smile.

It does happen often enough actually whether people remember it or not. Such as when meeting Alistair for the first time in Ostagar, IIRC it happens a few more times, and includes some camp dialogue with Sten. I do not get offended but it is IRONIC to me. It's ironic becuase while society is seemingly middle ages based like most fantasy RPG settings- it is relatively progressive in that the entire church structure is female oriented (the highest clerics and stations in the church, who has a strong hold on Ferelden are all female). Also Loghain's own right hand so to speak is a woman, also Anora is quite a strong woman in her own right politically. I have only done the origin stories for human female noble warrior, human female mage, and Dalish female warrior, and in the origin stories for those there is no real commentary about how you're just a woman.
So rather than offending me (which IMO would be stupid to be offended by) the occasional and rare comment about how I'm a woman and wow I'm a Grey Warden seems to present a more balanced and nuanced world perspective that I appreciate.

I've noticed, but I've never gotten offended by it. I usually just respond to such comments with as much snark as possible, which seems to shut them up. And as DracoAngel said, the era of Dragon Age is very medieval in nature, and as such, it doesn't surprise me that many people view women as inferior.
To me, Alistair's rose says it all: "Sure, buddy. I'm a beautiful flower, but mess with me, and my thorns will tear you to ribbons." ![]()

It is commented by a lot of different people but few really make a big deal about it. Sten is probably the worse. Really for a medieval era women are shown a lot of respect, far more than was shown in RL that is for sure.

Nope it actually went with that era.. you know olden times women weren't warriors. ....
The Revered Mother Oriana will tell you that also (HFN origin).
(snotty voice) 'in Antiva women fighting would be unthinkable' (gobble gobble gobble)

I wasn't offended, but I noticed that my warden could bring up the fact that she was a woman more than others pointed it out!
I rarely clicked those options, because I didn't feel the need for Arabella to point out her femininity.

Some of the lines where the PC point it out are stupid and every bit as sexist as what you hear from the occasional NPC.
Example: "I swear I'm the bravest one here and I'm [just] a woman."
As if Jory must be braver than the PC just because of his [superior] gender.

I noticed it, but it didn't bother me. I have seen in in real life "Oh that little white girl can't be better than him in basketball....holy ****, white girl stole the ball and did a layup!" Just an example of something that happen to my sister when she played in a all boys basketball tournament and was the only girl
And most of the time my character shut them up by showing her skills.
But I noticed, d shrugged and liked to prove them wrong.

At this point, I just chuckle at the cliches.
