no one's forcing you either
I'm not the one complaining about the fact that we're having a conversation. ![]()

See this is my point no matter what theory someone comes up with that actually has some truth to it someone comes in with a counter point, it makes talking about race gating nothing but an endless beating of a dead horse (also the point is not that he could look into their dreams, what if he wants to spend his afterlife with the one he loves in the fade? you can't do that with a dwarf)
That's kinda the whole point to the race-gating discussions now

I'd think it a little squicky if he refuses to get close to someone unless he's allowed to spy on their dreams.
It is less about spying and more about sharing your biggest intrest.

That is kinda the whole point of this thread to begin with. How can Bioware possibly do race gating without p*ssing off a bunch of the fans?

Who says my dwarf isn't like Dagna and super interested in it?

I'd assume Vivienne because at the end of the day, her life goal includes getting in powerful positions and securing that power. Romancing (as in not just having a lover on the side) a non-human would put her in a precarious position. She may honestly feel attraction or love to non humans but I can totally see why she would refuse to romance one.
This is just my guess obviously (Honestly I'd be thrilled if she's not race gated so I can romance her in more playthroughs)

Someone's always going to get upset. That's the truth of the matter. All you can try and do is soften the blow. That's the nature of the beast.

Doesnt quite hold water when the most powerful person socially is in love with an elf.

She was interested in studying magic not particularity the fade if I recall, still doesn't change that Solas wouldn't be able to spend his time in the afterlife with them which if it does become a reason I think thats kind of a sweet thing about him, wanting to spend his life in the fade with his love.

That didn't work out well for her. And with Alistair the best he can do as a king is the warden becoming a concubine.

She didn't marry the elf or have public dates with her did she? Vivienne might not be the type to be willing to have "on the side, hidden from public" type romances.

Sorry, did the idea of Solas wanting to spend his afterlife in the fade with his lover something that came from the devs? I just haven't seen this idea until now.

I think people are getting way ahead of themselves assuming Solas will be a romance option. What we know about him is he is a hermit that lives alone in old ruins. Whats to say as soon as the "war" is over he won't want to get back to that.

I don't know why people think you wouldn't be able to romance Solas as a dwarf or qunari. They might not dream normally, but the Inquisitor has a direct connection to the Fade, which might bypass all that dream business.

Nah its mostly just a theory people have when the whole gated against dwarfs came up which really makes some sense I don't think i could be with someone that I knew I wouldn't be able to be with after I die

Annoying fans and sending a very problematic message are 2 different things. Some of the ideas on here are frankly very uncomfortable mostly due to real world analogies.

They never said anything about being fair towards player races
They should be, they said they wanted to give everyone equal options. Giving humans two exclusive options is not equal options.

well if we didn't have race gating we would think like that but sadly its still going to happen, whether we like the reason or not

which really is wrong, never compare a fictional world to how it is in the real world lol it just causes trouble lol

Oh, that's kind of plausible. I know Oghren and Sigrun could be pulled into the Fade unnaturally, but I suppose dwarves don't go to the Fade when they die.
