Why can't daggers be worn at the hip?

I think the devs want them being shown in an angle that players will always see them, basically to showcase the art of them. Since players see behind the back, there you go

This is actually pretty close. We put most of the weapons on the back so that the player doesn't have to think about what they've got equipped. In an RPG of this scale it's easy to lose track of things (as we found in early playtesting) so by keeping the weapons visible it's always reinforcing what you've got armed.

The sword and shield is the exception here, as the shields get so big sometimes that they can obscure the sword - that's why it's on the hip (where it's more visible in this scenario.)

Gameplay first :)

Cheers!

I'm just going to mentally shake a fist at weapons-on-backs since they make long hair a bit of a prob. :P

S'all good though!

Think of all the damage to the fancy chairs in the Winter Palace!

Really, people forget what they have equipped. I hope this is a joke cause with how DA has weapons you'd have to be an idiot to not know what a character is using. Even if daggers weren't on the back you'd still be able to tell by not having quiver & bow on back.

trolling this thread, as its fun to do on sparing occasions.

No daggers, you'll poke your eye out.

(wonder if anyone will get my reference, should now that I wrote this tidbit.)

I agree, daggers should be at the hip. I'm at least glad longswords are at the hip this time.

personally i like the way daggers look when they're sheathed at the lower back, either crossed with the hilts pointing downwards or parallel to the ground.

I think he meant which specific daggers you have equipped, not if you have daggers or bow

I'm more concerned about the lack of sheathes and that your weapons instead float mysteriously inches from you then by where said weapons float.

So if there were a dagger and shield option (I'm Spartacus), that dagger would be worn at the hip.

Do you mean Gladius? That classifies as a sword, despite being essentially a long dagger. Thus I'm pretty sure they'd still stick it on your back.

They just said that weapons equipped with a shield are worn at the hip.

And I was thinking of the Thracian Knife.

Huh.

Welp. Talk about a way to make myself look like an idiot.

I hope they can change that the dagger is on the hip instead at the back.

Either way where the daggers are placed on the hips or on the back is fine by me.
