First off, this came up in a Twitter chat where I asked Patrick Weekes what he meant by getting 'completionist' in one area of the game.
I think it would be especially handy if there was some kind of completion percentage (per area and overall) incorporated into the campaign. We know the game isn't going to be open world; rather, it will be a bunch of large maps scattered about. This would make such a feature quite nice to have, as you would be able to tell how much of each area you've seen and explored.
Note that 'exploration' in this context doesn't only refer to merely setting foot in a location, but also completing quests in said location. The best example I can think of is Tomb Raider (2013), in which the in-game map has a completion percentage associated with each individual area that Lara visits through the course of the story, in addition to an overall game completion percentage.
For those of you who haven't played Tomb Raider, here's a little example of how it would work. Consider we have a map consisting of three locations, as follows:
Location #1: The Dales
Location #2: Crestwood Hills
Location #3: Val Royeaux
You have visited each of these locations and ended up with completion percentages 73%, 45%, and 91%, respectively. Now these percentages will show on the world map throughout the rest of the game, and you have the option to go back and continue exploring until you have hit 100% in each, at which point you know you have nothing left in those locations.
In my opinion, given the premise of the game this time around, this would be a most welcome feature to have. I don't really expect BioWare to be able to implement this in what little time they have left, but it's an idea that's worth getting out there.
