Who do you think the two race gated romances will be? and most importantly why?

I doubt blackwall will be an option, he is a greywarden and they took an oath remember? So i doubt he will be a romance. I don't think the classes have anything to do with the romances though. I know they probably want to keep the genders equal so Viv is probably definitely a romance.

I hope Solas is a LI, but he may be race-gated. Not sure why, or who with though.

 

Vivienne always struck me as too "ambitious" to pursue a relationship and I've felt like that ever since I first saw her in the stand together trailer. BUT, she will probably be available since most male players don't like Cass or haven't taken much interest in Josephine

than who should be the other romance? not Blackwall, or we have all tree warrior as romance, if we use your reasoning...not a rogue, because Varric, Leliana, and Cole are confirmed not LI material...the only "available" are now Solas, Vivienne and Blackwall.

For race gates, I can't see any of them with any good reason yet. However I suspect it will be one of the bi characters. They wouldn't say "Cullen only romances humans" and leave straight women who play non humans out in the cold, just for example.

I feel like this is a thread created to get a dev in here for some sort of confirmation. (I hope that's what happens, anyway!)

 

I think Viv because of the gender ratio. There always seems to be an even amount of genders in DA romances, regardless of class. I was hoping for Blackwall, but since someone said that the inspiration for Blackwall was his grandpa or something like that, I'm guessing that no one wants to romance their grandpa. So I'm guessing Solas, because dang, he's got a super smooth voice. I like his voice. His voice gets to me.

Personally i want to hear the reasons why some character you cannot romance. like if you cant hook up with Greywall is it because he has a wife from before he was a Warden? Vivienne because she is too concentrated on work? or why i can't romance Leliana if i romanced Morrigan in DA:0. i just wanna see how the writers put that into the story.

Vivienne is definitely going to be a LI if Bioware is planning on having romances equal in terms of gender because she's the only option left for a female LI.

I agree, Viv and Solas. 

 

Viv because that would make the genders balanced,

 

Solas because his voice actor said "you won't be disappointed."

 

The only evidence anyone gives to Blackwall possibly being a LI is that when someone asked if he was, they said, "soon..."  - which I always took to mean, "we'll talk about love interests soon." 

 

So far the best thoughts I've seen on race-gating "for story purposes" is Cullen and Viv.

They don't take oaths against relationships o.O (and we've seen a Warden who is married in Awakening, and Ser Jory who was married and wanted to be a Grey Warden). They just have to put their duty above anything else. And I don't see how everyone is all 'he can't he's a warden.'. What about Alistair, Anders (even though he's not with the Wardens anymore the taint is still inside him), and your character in the first game also being a Warden? That's never stopped the writers before. If the writers can write a romance about an ex Warden who has a spirit of Vengeance/Justice living inside him then they can make a normal Grey Warden romance work. The logic I'd use for Solas being a romance is that it'd make more sense to have two elf romance options rather than just one. I personally still would prefer Blackwall though.

 

Classes don't have anything to do with romances, as we've seen by having Sera as the only rogue romance option.
