Seriously. I honestly don't get how people care about an aspect of the game that back in the day we used to laugh at as a little side thing. The tumblr-generation is why we can't have nice things.

I think it may actually be only one race-gated one now. They said two back when the Bull was going to be gated (mostly to save on animations for all the different heights) - thus the disclaimer "anyone he think won't break" for his, ahh, bedroom hedonism.

However, Patrick Weekes ended up doing all the animations himself (he apparently didn't want anyone to miss out on the Iron Bull's happy-go-lucky majesty) so IB is no longer gated.

That would leave only the one race-gate.

IIRC, I believe it was John Epler, not Patrick Weekes. Weekes is writing, not cinematics.

It was John Epler who put in the hard hours so that we could all #ridethebull - he's a cinematic designer, while I'm not sure if Patrick Weekes even knows how to work the camera. (He's an excellent writer, though.)

 

They also said that there were two race-gated romances left after Iron Bull was declared open for business. Apparently they're gated for 'story reasons' which we can only speculate upon.

 

I think that Vivienne and Solas are probably the final two. (I'd personally prefer Blackwall, but hey, at least I get one of the three dudes who were at the top of my list.) I can't pretend to have a clue about who the race-gated ones are, though.

No, it's been confirmed the last two romances are companions, so the options are Solas, Vivienne and Blackwall.

No they said there were two who were gated after they announced Bull was no longer gated and they said they were gated for story reasons. 

 

Before Bull was un-gated Gaider said that some players could end up with only once romance option if they picked a certain race/sex/sexuality. The Bull news could mean this is no longer the case and everyone will have at least two options now.

This is how I think the start to the romance will play out.

Y'know, I find myself getting more and more interested in a Solas romance. I mean, it may not happen, and whatever, but still....

 

I mean, after all, my favorite relationship from DA2 was with Aveline, and it was just a good friendship with someone I admired.

Blackwall:
- He looks like an old experienced Wynne kind of character, but age just for age is not an argument, specially because we can create old looking characters as well;
- His description states that he took the life of a Grey Warden as a choice above any other option in his life, so he values that a lot. But so does Vivienne with all her ambition and either she or him are an LI. If one couldn't be a love interest because of strong determination, the other could not in the same way.

- We've seen grey wardens as LIs before. Alistair would prefer to be a grey warden more than anything else, specially considering the effect of Duncan on him.
- Grey wardens were central on Origins and on Dragon Age 2, act 3, they appear telling about some more important things happening. Dragons everywhere on Inquisition and archdemons? Well, maybe that means that Blackwall have a big role on Inquisition. The fact that they didn't say much about grey wardens may as well imply a big plot on the subject, thus making Blackwall a great LI for the player character.

Solas:
- He has a lot of appeal on his background story with big ties to the main storyline so far. That alone make him a great love interest for the player character.
- Between Sera and Solas, dalish would prefer Solas for sure. Actually, he is the best and almost only option for dalish protagonists than any other character.

- A lonely reclusive guy that suddenly appears to help the world...A lonely guy...Yeah, game on!

Vivienne:
- She is someone hungry for power, putting herself before anyone else. Maybe there is a personal story there behind this iron behavior, rich enough to be explored as a LI. Something like "I don't trust anyone, but you may change me" sort of thing.

- That she is the only female character left to be a LI is a big argument, strong enough to make me believe that she is a LI.

 

Between Solas and Blackwall, well, if I had to bet, I would go with Solas, but knowing that I'm risking a big backstab from the writers with Blackwall.

I have feeling Vivienne will be like Jack form mass effect use sex as weapon am sure she will  hop in to bed with you no problem but will she respect you for it no i think she is vary much  a jack   down  for one night stand  or you can  get to know her and romance her

I'm sorry why is everybody so sure it will be Solas and not Blackwall. Blackwall looks like a family man whereas Solas looks like a vampire and moreover it's been stated that he's a loner who's just interested in spirits and such otherworldly matters. Blackwall seemed sort of dull in that letter to the troops from World of Thedas, but if you're nice to him maybe he could be a bit like Fergus from Brave.

I doubt blackwall will be an option, he is a greywarden and they took an oath remember? So i doubt he will be a romance. I don't think the classes have anything to do with the romances though. I know they probably want to keep the genders equal so Viv is probably definitely a romance.

I was just commenting that it would be unlikely for all three mages to be all romances. Usually they mix it up a little bit.

Well, if my namesake is a love interest, all three warriors will be a love interest.

 

Edit just so I don't have to make a new post: Honestly, I think Bioware is going to be very careful about when they confirm these last two love interests. They know that all three have garnered a sizable fanbase among their most faithful fans and someone's hopes are going to be crushed  (probably the Blackwall fans because I have horrible luck).

Hmm based on things in past bioware games there is always one tragic romance, so thinking Blackwall will be one and Viv will be the other(Given sex is a weapon when doing things for politics .)

I can see Solas: but he seems more in love with the fade then the mortal world so to speak. But would be interesting if he is romanceable.

I think Vivienne and Solas will be the last 2 LIs myself and I cant speak for everyone else but I really want Viv to be an option.

 

B-Ware could really pull a fast one and make Harding "Our lovely Dwarven Scout" a Traynor/NPC Romance which would be awesome because shes cute as h***.

While I would be very much in favour of that, they're on record saying that the only romance options are companions and advisors. No dwarf love for us .

 

(And I'm pretty sure when they say 'advisors' they mean just the three we know about, and not other NPCs who are in the Inquisition.)

You know the lack of dwarf LI's for both genders in Dragon Age is a little weird in my opinion I mean B-Ware is cool with us Dwarf Quisitors romancing Humans,Elves & Qunari but romancing another Dwarf thats forbidden thats wrong.

 

And B-Ware had options for Dwarf LIs for both Genders with Varric,Dagna & Harding but once again its not gonna happen my Cadash will stay single and hopefully/shamelessly flirt with both Harding & Dagna.

I've said this before, but ... so far, BioWare have written full romances with: thirty-eight humans, twelve aliens of various species, seven elves, two half-elves, a tiefling and a one-eyed qunari. And zero dwarves.

 

I'm not saying it will never happen (some day!) but I wasn't surprised to hear that there are no dwarf romances in Inquisition.

Yeah I wasnt really surprised either to b honest but I just know B-Ware is gonna Aveline me again with Harding hell probably Dagna as well and thats gonna suck all kinds of A**.

 

Dont get me wrong Iike the options well enough and as a Human/Elf/Qunari I am gonna Romance them but not my Dwarf he will be forever alone.

I'm honestly still not sold on Vivienne being guaranteed at this point. I mean she'd be my preference, along with Solas, as a character I might find interesting to romance. However, the way the devs have worded things I don't think the gender balanced roster is a sure thing. I wouldn't mind Blackwall being announced if only because I'm annoyed at most of the reasoning against his inclusion and I'm not so emotionally invested in Viv/Solas that I'll be devastated by either character being unavailable.
