Wait, did they confirm direct imports without the keep?
Nope, they've confirmed numerous times that isn't a feature in any way, shape, or form. It's just MJ's chosen vernacular that's causing you confusion.

Nope not changing a thing with all my playthroughs I will endevour to keep as close as I can to my original saves. Now with that said of course I will use the keep to make new world states that I did not have the time to do, if it is at all possible I would like to see how much each decision from the past can effect the game world of Inquisition.
I'll make sure to set in the Keep That JeffZero is my Inquisitor's Spirit-Forumite so thats a guaranteed change
I don't see any reason to change anything for my existing runs. I'll use the Keep to play options I won't play in the previous games, like siding with the templars in Broken Circle.
No, I want to live with the consequences of my actions that I've made from the past two games.
I feel bad for doing it as I feel like it's cheating but I can't help it, as I regretted it severely after I did it. I will keep Avernus alive, even though originally my character killed him.
Why? Well, for two reasons. One, I feel like his existence would add a lot to any Grey Warden storyline, even in the background. The second? I want to keep the mad scientist around to help my Warden Queen and Alistair have children to preserve the Theiren bloodline. *bad fangirl*
Retconed dwarven noble, this time was a girl and was not hardened... also merged Dalish warden and Elven mage into one origin instead of two: Dalish Mage
There'll be a few things here and there because I'm replaying my Origins game.
It's been years since I've played it from start to finish. I feel like, as a player, I would make rather different decisions for my character as I am now as opposed to how I played back then. So, I would like to see my world state reflect that change. I probably won't have time to go through Origins now right to the finish, so the changes I want will be implemented into the Keep.
The biggest thing I'll probably change in my Origins story is my Warden having romanced Zevran, rather than him being off on his own without a love interest.
My Dragon Age II playthrough would remain the same, though.
man I am going to have a terrible time remembering what I did
who did I get to marry teagan in my dwarf princess run? CRAP IF I KNOW
and did I free that big fade spirit for money
how did I handle the blackstone irregulars
Only minor things. I never fed the prisoner in Ostagar - I wanted to, but for whatever reason I suppose I never got around to it. I'm going to likely retcon that choice.
Also, I always thought I sided with Jowan during the mage origin story. The very first time I played the game was at a friend's house - I played a mage and never turned Jowan in to Irving. However, apparently in the playthrough that became my canon, I did warn Irving about Jowan wanting to escape. I vaguely remember this, and my journal confirms it. This choice is completely counter to the way I played my character the rest of the game - and I know I'm going to change this in the Keep.
But I'm happy with all of the more major choices I've made. Even if some of them were actually really terrible choices. ![]()
Not having a canon Hawke might turn out to be a good thing. The only sure DA2 thing I'll bring with me to the Keep is that Bethany is a circle mage.
The only thing I'm contemplating retconning is killing Merrill/My Warden's Dalish clan. I feel like that is the one instance in all of gaming that always comes to mind about paraphrases not implying what they actually end up saying - so my clan got killed because of bad paraphrasing.
Otherwise, any retcons will be accidental, because I have too many playthroughs and don't quite remember exactly what happened in all of them.
man I am going to have a terrible time remembering what I did
That's also a problem, I'm going to have a terrible time remembering a ton of small details.
I made a pretty perfect pc world to me, but i will probably be changing a few things like how i dealt with anders and if my sibblings in DA2 lived or not. but otherwise i think i will stay clear to that characters world.
People will die. Kirkwall and Fereldan will drown in a sea of blood. MUHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHA...
... or so to speak.
No, I will live with the decision I choose and its consequences regardless that it turned out to be good or ill in DA: I.
I have no desire to and I highly doubt I will. The lack of continuity would bug me. I tend to stick to a lot of the same decisions, anyway.
I have a few different playhtroughs to create but going to stay true to them if possible.
I seem to have a bit of an dark grey bent, so its going to be interesting to see how some of my less then good choices play out.
About the only thing I might change is killing off Wynne in a number of playhtroughs, though she dies anyhow so doubt it matters much.
Also killed off Alister in one of my playhtroughs instead of having him exiled which was a opps on my human noble playtrhough but may keep it just to see things differently.
There are 5 keep world states. Two of them are going to be my 'canon' ones. Those two will be the ones that I intend to not change any options from what I chose in the game. Within reason. Just because 2 told me Nathanial was dead because he was at Vigil's Keep in Awakening, doesn't mean I'm going to be putting in Keep that "Nathaniel died"...
For the other 3 world states, though, I will be altering the world state to fit my needs. I'll likely use those to put in whatever would sound interesting to have in the game, that I may or may not have experienced yet.
I'm not going to intentionally change anything. If things don't go as planned and it bothers me enough then I reload an earlier save and replay from there, even if it means repeating 20 hours of gameplay... I want to be reminded of things I actually remember playing through earlier in the series when I experience content in Inquisition that is reflected by the Keep.
That said, I never played through Awakening in my world-states where the Warden did the US, due to the import bugs it caused. Also left out some DLC. So I'll have to make up some choices for those playthroughs. Though I might do an Orlesian Warden playthrough of Awakening and use that playthrough as a basis for the Keep.
Nope, I made some good and bad decisions in my first playthrough of DAO and DA2 and I want to live with their consuquensces. Just as I will accept all the shitty decisions I might do with my inquisitor.
