With DAO, I'll probably stick to my best recollection of what happened, but with DA2 I need to work around the unreliable narrator.  I need to see where I can fudge things to produce the outcomes I want.

I'm struggling with that very issue right now actually. My first Warden playthrough was a Human Noble, who somehow missed the door to where Oswyn (Bann Sighard's son) was being tortured by Howe's men and so missed that quest entirely. Normally I'd be against changing anything or fixing mistakes but that always felt like a botch that didn't sit well with his story. Changing it still feels wrong though.

I am planning to retcon the end of my third Hawke's story slightly though. I tried to get him to convince Anders to side with the templars but I didn't get his rivalry high enough.

I might change some things. Include quests I might have accidentally skipped, but I think for the most part I'll stay true to my games. I repeated them enough times to get them almost perfect as it is anyway.

Yep. I'm retconning the heck out of my DR choice.

Probably gonna retcon friending Seb to rivaling him (if possible anyway).

Well I beat DAO 8 times, so I don't really have a canon state to 'retcon'. I will simply be creating world states as I see fit, some will be based on playthroughs (I have giant xcel spread sheets on all of them) and others will just be 'what do I want with this DAI run?'.

I've played through DAO and DA2 an obscene amount of times, so I didn't have a clearly defined world state. I am currently in the middle of replaying the whole thing in preparation for DAI. I am going for what I consider a "perfect" world state, so I won't need to make any significant changes. Might add some minor side quests I couldn't be bothered with this time around. I'm kinda rushing it.

No retcons for me.

I think I will remember how I did everything for my "main"-playthrough, but for the rest? Gonna have to search through the quest-tabs in DA:O and DA2 when I create my worldstates in the keep so I don't mock things up.

My biggest retcons are going to involve hooking my favorite playthroughs together into one narrative.

Since I have an US warden, a DAA Orlesian Warden I really liked, and a Hawke who wasn't connected to either since that was my first DA2 playthrough and I didn't have everything on the xbawks.

I'll be swapping which stories go with which. Pro-mage mage warden and a pro-mage mage Hawke in the same setting? Not likely, nor is it very interesting. Let's change which Hawke aligns with which warden. Not to mention I can finally canonise my headcanon of my Dalish warden and my Orlesian warden being in the same time line.

Retconning:

- hardening Alistair (so he'll have an affair with my elf warden instead of dumping her)

- saving the Architect (i only killed him so Sigrun wouldnt leave my party)

- Fenris alive (he was in between my friend and my rival so was forced to kill him when i sided with the mages)

One of the best things about the keep is that we can actually do an Ultimate Sacrifice import without having to either accept the default Awakening choices or the default US choice. Since DAA importing a sacrificed Warden brought them back to life rather than using the Orlias Commander-Warden it was impossible up til now.

I dont think I'll change anything, definitely not the major plot quests. I'm pretty happy with the choices I made (I did a bit of meta-gaming while on my canon run). However I did forget to do a few minor quests or complete them. So I'll mark them as done under the keep, perhaps tweak a few of the side quests.

Yes. I'm giving Leliana Schmooples. Didn't do that in the playthrough I want to import.

However, cutting down Wynne in the circle tower and all the other things I wish I hadn't done... They'll be in. I vowed that I'll live with what my Warden and Hawke have done.

For my first playthrough, I will be using my original choices... After that, for varieties sake, I will use new ones.

Likely not on my 'canon' saves. My first playthroughs of DA:O and DA2 are full of bad, gut moment decisions and unawareness of certain paths and characters. Hell, most of the DA:O DLC/ Awakening (I did do Witch Hunt though) wasn't even experienced by that first Warden Cousland I created.

He missed out on Shale (dlc wasn't working), Zevran (slit his throat before ever even talking to him) and Wynne (told her to stay with the Circle). DA2 was no different, as BeardHawke totally missed Fenris (no I wont do your shady quest Anso), Isabella never returned (that made me sad), Sebastian wasnt recruited (again, dlc problems) and Bethany died in the deep roads (;_;).

There's something oddly 'pure' to these saves. No metagaming, no guides, no knowledge of different resolutions. There might be dire consequences in DAI for some of the choices/or lack of, but that what my subsequent playthroughs (at least 24 Hawke's atm) are for.

I have in mind to create a totally cruel save, because I was never able to do so playng (at least I didn't complete it), but mostly I have to retcon a save with a dwarf I'm doing because she is romancing a mod character...so depending on when and how I'll use that run, I'll have to create a new love story or none for her.

I'll have to create a lot of DA2 saves, since I endend the game only two times. and I have something like four or five complete run at DAO.

No.  Come what may, I'm sticking to my in-game decisions.

I won't be changing anything. I would most likely add some decisions, which my Wardens hadn't made because I was too lazy/amnesiac (like an already mentioned quest with Dagna - I simply forgot to stop by and tell her she was accepted). Or, I had only finished Awakening with one Warden, but intend to add decisions from it to every world state. For the sake of completion.

I'm not sure what I'll be doing. It's hard to remember my first Wardens.  I do know that I wasn't playing the "perfect" playthrough, mainly because the game was new.  I think also in the first time playing, you made decisions not based on any save import.  I was fine with companion's disapproval and leaving the party or fighting me over my decisions. And in Origins, you could play a Warden who had a much bigger mean streak. (Is it me, or has Bioware moved away from that somewhat?) I just played Origins again to beat the game with my last origin story (the Dalish) and he was almost a non-character.  He was so nice to every companion and everything was done perfectly so that everyone survives.  It's harder to play now knowing the decisions affect the world state. You end up playing for a future game instead of playing the game in front of you.  There's a feeling of losing content for future games, whether real or imagined.

My Hawkes on the other hand don't have all that much variation.  I only sided with the Templars once.  And I like that character, so I'll probably use him in one of my world states.  My first Hawke had everyone friended or  rivaled.  Bethany lived.  (I was lucky in bringing Anders.  Then again, it made sense to me to bring a Warden into the Deep Roads.)  But being the first playthrough, I'll probably use that Hawke.  He had a bleeding heart for Anders, and I really want to see (or hope to see) what Anders is up to now that his actions have nearly destroyed Thedas.  It was one of those rare first time perfect playthroughs.

Although my favorite Warden, and the one I'll use in my first world state, was my third Warden, a Dwarven Noble.  Left Alistair as king.  Romanced Leliana.  Put Harrowmont in charge.  And kept the Architect alive.  The smaller details I don't remember, and will have to load the game before creating.  Changing things feels like cheating, but we'll see.

Or if I want the perfect playthrough and the one I remember the best, my kinda boring Dalish Warden is ready and willing.  He's about the fight the Architect and The Mother and stand proud as the vanilla super hero is.

Having done so many playthroughs, I don't have a "canon" version per se, but my main choices tend to be pretty consistent, so I have a fair idea of what my starting choices will be. After I've done my first run through Inquisition, I will play around with some more atypical options to see how they play out.

I'll try to faithfully recreate what I did at first, but I will eventually try to make a world state with all the "evil" options I couldn't bring myself to do in a proper playthough.

I'm writing down all my decisions in a text file just in case I forget some of my choices. I won't change anything.

For some of my future playthroughs, I may create a save file that's not based on an actual playthrough.

Probably not. I'm meticulously planning my Playtroughs of the previous Games beforehands anyways, so there is no Point in retconning Things.
