I bought this game several years ago and, thanks to nerd poker, have an itch to play it again. Only problem is it wants me to have the disk in while playing. Since my laptop doesn't have an optical drive I used Apple's Remote Disc feature to install it from another Mac but, when I tried to run it, it still said that it needed a disk in the drive.

 

I've heard there is a patch - 1.23 - that removes that need but I haven't been able to find it anywhere that doesn't look like a sketchy internet back alley.

 

I know it's ancient, but any help to be able to play through this again would be really appreciated.

If you are playing the Mac version from DVD then there is no official patch to allow you to play without the disk.  Only the version that was available in the Apple App Store could be played natively on a Mac without requiring a disk. The 1.23 patch released by Aspyr did not remove the disc requirement. And the only link I have to that patch is no longer working. I suggest you buy an external DVD drive from Apple.

 

The patches Dann-J refers to above are for the Windows version of NWN2.
