I think that person was being sarcastic, boy your dense. And your already judging romance options for a game that hasn't even been released yet yeah that makes sense. Look you got your attention with your little rant why don't you just cancel your pre-order, get your money back and move on to something else. Your making a fool out of yourself since most of the people replying to you are either making better sense than you are or just being sarcastic to you (and you reply to it like they were being serious). All this over an optional part of the game man high maintenance much?

 

You seem to think this whole rant was serious, I didn't even expect people to read it much less reply. Romances in Bioware games are integral part of what they do best and I just don't like the new direction its taken after having that much freedom before. By the way, its You're dense.

Cole is inhabited by a spirit, basically a child like spirit. To romance something that is for one a spirit (not even alive), is technically s.....nevermind. I wont go any further. They've jailed people for this type of scenario every day just about.

 

A person that isn't attracted to someone will not get attracted to them. I am not attracted to many of my female friends, they know it, they don't mind hanging out with me cause they know they are safe around me. *shrugs*  I cant get attracted to them, I find it as gross as being attracted to my own sisters....yuck.  This is exactly the same case as those race-gated or have preferences.

 

Romances, note from Gaider's thoughts on romance handling.  I said it before.  Gaider found that the best romance scene he ever saw in game was The Darkness where the MC sat with the gf on the couch watching a movie and she rested her head on MC and slept.  This is an indication, also, he did say there will be more meaning to these romances, feel more real. I cant link where he said it at this time, it is in another thread though somewhere. Issues of these 8 romances versus the 4, is drowned out and moot.

 

Want to romance Sera, be a female. Romance option to Cullen, play a female, that's realistic, to make a lesbian prefer anyone doesn't make her a lesbian, doesn't make a gay if open to females to, cause was convinced to be with opposite gender. Honestly, that is horrible, that is saying, lesbians and gays are just lost people who haven't found their right person of the opposite sex.  That is the wrong way to go, doesn't work like that.

 

Sorry if you was ninjamanced, I never was, I knew exactly what was being said. Some people do lack social skills to know what flirting is though.

... so she's not gated against dwarves. (Which doesn't mean she's not gated at all, but at the very least it means she's not elf-only or something.)

The Darkness where in both the comic book and the game, the love interest is pretty much a hook so the character can make his tragic fall when she's unjustly slain by his adoptive uncle in both cases. 

 

The head resting on his lap however is a sign of a platonic relationship which you could have with any one of the characters in this game, if you were allowed to  Based on the gating I'm saying this is a no.

Now that's a chart I like. I'm going to wager a guess that the warden will be out because like Samara in ME2 he will refuse based on his oath for some reason. The Elf Solas shall be Qunari only, and Vivienne will take anyone as long is it raises her social standings in the world ala Miranda and banging Shep in the Engine room 20 feet from Tali and 10 feet above Jack's head. 

 

Also I'm just seeing this now, but does anyone noticed the resemblance between Sera and Joffrey from GoT?

seeing as how everyone disagreed with you I think is very possible that many think this is a pointless thread and should be locked, we already have a race gating thread. The fact not to take it seriously is even more reason to lock it.

 

They may be disagreeing with me, and they may be being sarcastic in their comments but they're not being flat out rude about it either. A lot of the people that have replied have had very good reasoning behind their answers as to why its more realistic and good for the growth of the game and I do agree with them. 

 

You, however, have taken every chance to be not only rude, but disrespectful about it all. The funniest part about your vehement defense of the situation is that based on your profiles you have up, you haven't even completed either game or romanced anyone to have even tested the systems out to see if they're good or not. So why defend something you haven't even delved into the parts we already have to play with?

If those four romances are better fleshed out than the eight they're giving us, then yes. I have a feeling that some of the characters that they're dangling in front of us are going to fall completely flat. The DA:O romances were very well fleshed out even though some people did the "Oh gifts and love me" routine, and the ones in DA2 went quite well because there was already a founded backround of information on at least 2 of the characters you were allowed to romance.
That left three wild cards to learn about, which was a good mix of the new and the old. The only one currently that you can say you've actually had dealings with in any regard is Cullen, Cassandra was in her own movie, yes, which means she's a known quantity but you as a player only got to see her in cut scenes with Varric.

I may only be speculating as well, but that's what all of us are doing currently. We're only seeing the portions that we're being allowed to see and making judgement calls from that. By locking people out of romances, you don't let the player really make any decisions. They may be good romances, yes, but they still shouldn't just go "Nope, not happening, not going to work. What time is it? Not going to work o' clock." The best part of a romance story, novel or game quest line is the trials and tribulations of getting to that pinnacle, I had a lot of fun working my way through as a male mage to get Fenris to do the "Dance with No Pants" because it was a good dialogue set but it wasn't easy and made it worth it.

I'm not into you is literally the most common reason people IRL do not get together. Sometimes, people don't hook up with others *purely* for physical reasons. In fact, one of the deciding factors between friends and dating is pure sexual chemistry.

Beyond that, we have no evidence of what the romance content will be like in DAI. The DAO romance content was superior to DA2 because there was (1) more of it and (2) it was better spaced out per character. That tells us exactly jack about the DAI romances.

Darn right I'm entitled. I played DA:O and Awakening and loved them dearly and a large portion of what made them so much  fun is being junked out the window.

There was gating in DA:O. There were no romances in Awakening.
