Hey, I'm all for the curvy ladies! I just didn't realize they had torpedo bras in Thedas.

I like the beard option for the female dwarfs too, mines gotta nice cut and shape and still look good haha
Hi Gilsa, nice to see you and with a great looking dwarf chick in your avi as always.I've been watching various youtube videos over the past couple of days (need a break from the game now that I finally beat it) and it turns out that the Carta dwarf gets special dialogue with Blackwall in the "you are who you choose to follow" conversation. The human and elf conversations are exactly the same and say nothing about their past. I cannot find the qunari version anywhere though. I'm now more appreciative of that scene, especially since Cadash can joke that the rumors are not true and Blackwall will say something like, "Oh, so you didn't kill an Antivan count with a wheel of cheese? Shame. I was hoping that rumor was true." With the discussion about leaving the criminal past behind, it really does seem like Cadash and Blackwall are more like peers in this regard, y'know?

Considering some of the other things they seem to have, why not! ![]()
Ah well. After starting with an elf mage, I didn't think a dwarf had enough tie-in to the story to feel interesting as Inquisitor.
I have not yet done a dwarf playthrough, but I wonder what others think of it and the dwarven connection to the story as atm it doesn't feel that the dwarves are that connected.
Hopefully either a dlc or da4 has more dwarven content.

Well, I've only done a complete playthrough with a qunari and a half playthrough with a dwarf, I that's the context from which I'm speaking.
Neither seem terribly related to the plot. There's a little bit of qunari and dwarf specific dialogue peppered throughout, so it certainly makes the playthroughs feel different from each other in that respect. But neither feel like there's a strong connection to the main plot on the grounds of the Inquisitor's race, to be honest. I could imagine that an elf might have a much more interesting connection given the plot.
That being said, I'm not sure how important that aspect is. I don't think that Hawke's race really made a difference. If the Hawke's were elves, would the game have been significantly different? Probably not. I actually kind of like the fact the qunari and dwarf Inquisitor feel like an outsider to an extent. Mercenaries and carta thugs running a Chantry-affiliated, primarily human, political organization? Seems very cool to me. Much more so than "human noble" doing those same things. That's just my impression though.
I've done a dwarf all the way through, an elf 75%, and about 25% on a human.
I don't really feel like I have any meaningful difference in experience on any of them. There are more elven and human characters and content, but for me, my main characters's connection to the plot is more dependent on me than the game. I am way more attached to my dwarven PTs, I spent a lot more time developing them, and consequently, I feel like the game is more fun to play as a dwarven rogue than a Solas romancing elf mage. Shrug.
Cadash's backstory is a great springboard for developing a character (a criminal who becomes a savior! a person incapable of magic gaining magical powers!) and dwarves hold a unique place in society. They're an outsider, but not in the same way as Adaar or Lavellan.
Could they have added more content to make dwarven PTs feel more unique? Absolutely, I mean, I'm never going to say no to more dwarf content.
I suppose you could say the story "caters" to you more if you're human or elf. But there is a lot of dwarven content you can chase down as a dwarf character: lots of stuff with the Carta and red Lyrium, Varric's quest, the entire Hissing Wastes, and history peppered around everywhere like the Storm Coast. If your dwarf is Andrastrian, they get the same religious experience as a human noble, but perhaps even more notable because Cadash wouldn't' be raised like Trevelyan would. If you want to do a Stone RP (which I'm doing with my second character), there's actually a lot of interesting things to play with there, considering what we learn about lyrium.
in conclusion dorfs > all
Hi Gilsa, nice to see you and with a great looking dwarf chick in your avi as always.
I've been doing Blackwall's romance with a human rogue and definitely wishing I'd stuck with a dwarf woman. His body type, beard, warrior ethic, toolsy hands... he's practically a dwarf himself. I also don't normally go for happy families kind of scenarios, but the thought of him showing his half-dwarf son or daughter how to use tools is just... I'm dead on the floor.

Hey!! Glad to see familiar faces again! And don't regret too much -- the human has extra animations with Blackwall so there's a trade-off somewhere.
And as a dwarf, you can choose to believe in the Stone or be Andrastian. This actually blew my mind a bit in a few places which I'll put in spoilers below. The first half of the game did start out strong with the dwarf options and it kind of petered out towards the end, but I suspect that to be true for all.
Wow I've been gone a while. I have to kinda agree that playing a mage human or Dalish dose seem to tie into the story better than the other origins. That being said my Male and Female Dwarves are still my favorite. It's fun to just role play them as running around laughing to themselves at all these crazy humans and elves that worship them all because they walked in of Cory at the worst possible moment.
How is a dwarf not connected to the story? The sky is going to kill everybody and this plan is being put into place by a darkspawn! Dwarves get to whip out a big ass bucket of "We ****** told you so!!"
I also have this head canon that my Male and Female Dwarf Inquisitors are brother and sister. Each play through is just witch one got sent to the conclave.

The elf doesn't have a reason any better than a dwarf or a qunari to be the inquisitor. Now the person behind the screen playing as a certain race could role them not being accepted of the title, but surely warms up to it later, just like the NPCs in the game. ![]()
In my opinion its up to the dwarves to clean up everyone's mess because there all daft, like chickens running around with there heads cut off. Not knowing what there doing. Not saying the dwarves are without fault, but you dont see anyone clean up there messes. (imo of course)
Here is a question: do you think we might see Kal-Sharok in a DLC or in a future game?
Here is a question: do you think we might see Kal-Sharok in a DLC or in a future game?
By the Stone we had better! lol Most likely we will get a DLC but I am hoping that in the next game we can be a dwarf from there or have a companion/LI from there.
Will our happy family fracture when that happens??? NEVER. Surely us dwarf fans have enough understanding and nuance to get along even if we end up on different teams (I'll be the one in the middle going, "but they're both so narratively interesting!!!", like the nerd I am) .
Definitely not Vivienne. Cole is iffy. I'm not sure which way to go with Cullen because it feels like the relationship is based on business decisions first and then you have to work at the friendship. I mean, I don't know that outside of the Inquisition that Cullen and Cadash would have struck up an easy friendship, y'know? Everyone else has been great. I'm biased with Cassandra because there's the whole "girl power" thing going on. Leliana was all over the place with her emotional range that I didn't quite know what to make of her for most of the game. I liked Solas from the get-go. Couldn't quite put my finger on it. Easy to be with. I mean, hindsight is 20/20 and it's clear in the aftermath. They did a good job keeping him approachable rather than a snooty elf that could potentially look down on non-elves, y'know? (I honestly thought that's how he was going to play out when I saw how incredibly race-gated he was. I'm glad there's precedent for this now because I wouldn't mind having a dwarf romance be race gated to dwarves only so the general population wouldn't whine that they were losing a romance spot to a short person, that the dwarf romance would just be seen as a bonus. Does that make senses?)
This is petty, but it irked me that Morrigan got the most smiles out of Cadash. Their first meeting? Cadash flashes a grin. Morrigan makes a wry observation. Cadash has a grin before picking one of the three replies. C'mon. I know Morrigan's the darling of the Dragon Age series, but let's be less ham-fisted about it. =p
Dorian/Cadash is the other pairing/friendship I love with Cadash. He sees you as more than the others do, because of his exposure to dwarves, and he delights in breaking stereotypes wih you!
