I have a female Cadash/Bull run going right now- I LOVE it!  qunari + dwarf love. Oh how the Chantry will love that for the rumor mill

debating to make a M!Cadash to romance Cass

I definitely plan on a male Cadash (rogue) for Cass. They did such a nice job making the animations believable. ;)

STOP TRYING TO SEDUCE ME, DAMN IT

Hey, for those who have tattoos on their dwarves, what's the RP reason? I thought they were to mark casteless status, which makes sense if you're in Orzammar, but Cadash is a surface dwarf, several generations past the exile. Is there a benefit I'm not seeing? I'd like to use them on my next character and just wondered.

Well, dwarven tattoos are pretty distinct from those of other cultures/races, so it could be a way for Cadash as a surfacer to hold onto their heritage... whether they're reminding their enemies of the Legion of the Dead or they're proud despite being "casteless scum". Or just intimidation!

Ok, I've reached the ball - and I got to a sad conclusion that DA:I was written mainly with a human protagonist in mind. If I had known that I would have created a human female as my first PT. In DA:O the story was gripping for every race. However, in DA:I I can't shake the feeling that the other races were added only to satisfy the fans.

I guess I would have a lot more fun with Julia Trevelyan then I currently have with Merry (I love my heroine - but the small amount of dwarven content is just not worth it. Also I'm kind of tired with everyone shrieking with disgust at the sight of dwarven inquisitor). As a result I kind of lost the willingness to press forward - hopefully it's a matter of time till I regain it. I want to finish my Cadash PT - but to be honest I'm considering starting over with Julia.

I have to say I'm kind of disappointed with DA:I.

Play what you enjoy. It's too long of a game to muddle through on a character you're not quite feeling.

I created Julia and played a bit of prologue (at this point I really wish there was a way to move past it). I like the sword-and-shield fighting style, but I miss Merry (and I would have to spend some time in CC to make Julia exactly as I want her - and I just don't have energy for that right now). So I will probably finish my Cadash PT and then after some break play Julia.

My problem with DA:I is I love Merry as a character, but I hate that DA:I has so human centric plot.

Yea elves and humans seem to be the center of attention AGAIN. Still hoping there will be a dwarven centered DLC.  Or in the next game, having something dwarven centered thats part of the main plot. (or both lol)

That's very sad and unfortunate to hear, but like Gilsa said, play exactly what would keep you into the game. I haven't touched the human characters yet, but I don't feel that the other races were added just for fans, because they wouldn't have put much effort into the reactions of the races. Kind of like what Origins did, people really didn't care about your race.

Well, in Origins people didn't care much about your race - but every race had an area / quests designed for them.

City Elf - Alienage in Denerim (and Dalish Camp if you were into Dalish).

Dalish Elf - Dalish Camp in Brecilan Forest (or whatever that place is called)

Humans - whole thing with Arl Howe. Also Denerim and Redcliff.

Dwarves - Orzammar

So no matter who you played in DA:O there was a place in which you felt like in home (ok everyone was mean to you in Orzammar if you were a warden dwarf - but still better this than nothing). And that's what I miss.

For example Valmaar could be wonderful hub quest for carta dwarves - instead it's just a short "kill everything that lives" kind of thing. If I had played an elf I would have been terribly disappointed with Dalish camp in Exalted Plains. That part of the game was just sad.

Whereas if you play human you feel welcomed everywhere. And you don't get stuff (this one is from Leli :( ) like this: "you're a dwarf and you probably don't even believe in the Maker" for which you can't even reply.

As I said above at this point Merry keeps me in the game. I spent so much time with her (almost 70 hours now) and I just don't want to leave her even if playing a human female sounds like more fun now.

By the way - are there any Qunari in DA:I besides the protagonist?

I can totally get what you're saying with the area part, but even when you were done with that area it was over. No more reference to your race. Inquisition has that all throughout it, and maybe even more in the story DLCs. But I'm not here to change your mind, but just want you to have fun!

Nope, just the protag and Iron Bull.

Bull, some random npc inquistor soldiers, and technically an elven qunari in bull's companion quest.

For now I'll stick with Merry. If I get to the point that I don't want to play her anymore (hopefully it won't happen) I'll start over.

One thing that bothers me with female dwarf body is the 50s bullet bra. It just looks weird. Why can't we have a normal looking bust?

As for the Qunari - they have even worse then the dwarves it seems!

Yeah there's not a whole lot there. For me, I don't actually think the main story is that well done really. It's not terrible, but prefer the side content and character interactions, so I have more fun with my dwarf rogues than my elven mage or human warrior tbh, but I can understand that disappointment a lot.

Well to be fair, a large part of DA:2 had to do with the qunari. Like Orzammar had to do with the dwarves. I'm pretty sure if we go to tevinter, qunari and dwarves will play a huge role.  :D

I'm curious about something.

In DAO, didn't someone say there were a "few hundred" dwarves living on the surface? And in DAI, Varric references "tens of thousands of us"... I think. I could be totally off.

It could be a design oversight, but I kinda like the idea that there's a mass exodus from Orzammar happening. I mean, it's sad because I love Orzammar, but it's cool for story reasons. Thoughts?

Or it could be that Orzammar didn't want to admit to the numbers living on the surface...?

That too! I don't even remember where I got the "few hundred" line from -- it could have been in Orzammar. Or my imagination, for that matter. :P

Always been my belief. Gorim says the Shaperate claims only 500 are living on the surface, which seems an awfully small number really. Throw in the biases the Shaperate happens to have (various codexes that talk of how the Shapers wish to pick and choose) and hell the biases Dwarven citizens have (House Vollney, or rather Bruntin) and the actual numbers have to be more.

Also, casteless. I doubt the Shaperate would consider the casteless Dwarves who leave to have been a part of that number.

Also, he's probably only counting the ones that left Orzammar. I don't think they keep track of the ones that are born on the surface.

Hell, that's a good point. You also have to account for the potential Dwarves that left other thaigs or great thaigs like Hormak, Gundaar, etc. when the Darkspawn took control
