Ugh.  Alright.  I'm doing it.  I'm deleting this version of Agathe.  I think that you (plural) were right.  If I'm having trouble with an aggressive female character, it's probably because I made her too far out of my comfort zone.  Since she's already almost three hours in, I'd rather start her from scratch.

So now I've only got two quizzies:  Talan, my 'canon' male qunari two-handed warrior (romancing Dorian) and Graeme, male dwarf dual wield rogue (romancing Bull)

I was originally going to try a female elf mage (since they are all the rage now.....), but I can see that if I can't get through with a female dwarf in my favorite class, there's no way that I'm going to get through with a female elf (my least favorite race) mage (my least favorite class).

So I now need to reconceptualize three characters:

a ranged rogue

a sword and shield warrior

a mage

I'm only going to do one female and that's Agathe and since I'm only planning on doing dwarves and qunari, it means that my mage is going to be a male qunari.  So that means that I need to decide:  Will Agathe be a ranged rogue in her new version or a 'nicer' female warrior.  I'm leaning towards rogue because if she's a warrior, it means that my ranged rogue will have to be a male dwarf (already did a dwarf rogue) or male qunari (already will have two male qunari).

So I'm thinking my new characters will be:

Agathe - female dwarf ranged rogue .  She'll probably look the same (maybe less 'rough' looking now that she's not a front line warrior) but she'll be a diplomatic and friendly character instead now.

Qunari #2 (I'm thinking Kost for his name) - male qunari mage - not sure how to play his character yet; Maybe I'll make him very erudite and give him the lore perks right away so he can constantly spout out obscure facts.  Like a qunari Solas type.

Dwarf #2 (no idea of the name yet) - male dwarf sword and shield warrior - He'll likely be cocky and arrogant, but charming (think a warrior Dorian or a more likeable Anomen, but a dwarf)

This has been bothering me all day.  Thanks for letting me work through this!  I appreciate the help in this thread.  Good people all-around.

Now I just have to pick which one is next and get them created so that I can start playing them in honest once I'm done with Graeme (I'm thinking erudite qunari next.......)

ETA:  What a long annoying post on my part.  Ha.  I guess it's more for me to have a space to get my thoughts out.  Feel free to skip it!

I can't even get through my female elf PT...it's going very slowly, and I prefer playing as a woman!   I love elves, but I don't care to play as them. Dorfs and Qunari (and Big Tex as my only human) for me.

Dwarven rogues are a lot of fun to play, so I'd go for it! :)  I've done DW and archer dwarven rogues, they were both super fun. I think I preferred DW from a "cool factor" and RP pov, but archer is the most fun class in the game to play, imo, so you can't go wrong either way. :) (asl you can respec if you want to, haha. I like that its very easy to switch between melee and ranged with rogues)

Hope this run of her works better for ya, Dave! But if it doesn't, hey, don't force it. We dwarf lady lovers will represent, you don't have to feel angst about it. :)

I actually haven't watched any Cassandra or Josephine romance videos because I like finding out about the romances through you guys in this thread. I live vicariously through your enjoyment!

I've finally got the ball rolling on my second Cadash. I didn't feel right playing a non-dwarf on a Brosca import (think I already mentioned that, sorry) so I had to ponder how to make her feel different than my first. Picking different choices wasn't good enough. Inspiration struck in Haven when I was in the jail area, finally unlocking all those cells that I couldn't reach on my warrior. It was just more paperwork and as I found myself rifling through them, I realized that this was a realistic excuse to RP a dwarf that was knowledgeable about history (all the inquisition perks) and how things worked. (This was a bit difficult for me to rationalize on my first Cadash thug because it wasn't like she went to boarding school and studied up on all this -- I planned on skipping the lore perks when I rerolled her later on.)

More importantly, this is the part that makes my second Cadash so interesting to play. There's no specified age for the Inquisitor. They can be young or as old as we want, which is quite a change from the limited ranges that our Origin characters had. I picked one of the older complexions and started RPing her as dwarven Judi Dench, inspired by M from the James Bond movies. And she absolutely is taking advantage of telling people she's the Herald. I don't know if she believes in the Stone or Andraste yet. I've been avoiding that conversation with Josephine until I get a better feel. For now, it's just an illusion she's maintaining to grease the wheels and get stuff done.

Edit: Make-up because she's a well-groomed smooth talker. Like Puss in Boots.

Oh my god, Gilsa! I didn't see those earlier.

I know you said Judi Dench, and I can see it, but she also looks like Laurie Holden. What a babe/badass.

She legit might be my favorite dwarf that I've seen posted so far.  What a cool concept.  I'd love to get a drink with this gal.  I bet she's got some awesome stories to tell.

Whoah. I can't unsee that. How cool! I didn't purposely try to make her look like anyone. Just noticed that she had a Judi Dench vibe, that's all, but once you pointed out Laurie Holden, oh yeah, I definitely see that. Thanks!

I had Varric with me full time in my first game so I'm now seeing dwarf specific dialogue that wasn't available when he was around to override them. One is recruiting Agent Ritts in Hinterlands (she was the one having a picnic with the mage) -- dwarven icon appeared. Pretty much the same stuff Varric said, but my turn!

Do eet. I remember you talking about the older skins a while back. I was actually thinking of you when I was pondering which complexion I wanted to try this time. I looked at Fiona while talking with her in Val Royeaux. She's got the older skin, too, but not as noticeable for some reason. Might have to do with her coloring.

I currently have limited access to playing (thinking of what I can bribe my daughter with tomorrow to get in a few hours :P ), so I didn't spend a lot of time in the CC. But I definitely want to try to make Zhenya look 40ish, like that one. And still very sexy and tough looking!

WOW!! That's fantastic work right there.

Dalish Ranger, your Brosca looks great!!

Thanks guys. :) My loveable scumbag Brosca is my second favorite Warden to play (and the only one other than my mage I've actually carried over into Awakening). I'm quite pleased with his updated look and I'm actually fond of the close-cropped hair for him. The only thing I really lament is I can't get his *exact* brand. Ah well. The main mark's there!

And Gilsa, loving the more mature dwarf you've got going there. She does look like she'd have some good stories to tell. :D

@David: Hey, brainstorming is important! Sometimes it takes a while to get our concepts down pat, sometimes they work right away. Personally, I didn't mind reading through it. :) I still really want to finish Dorian's romance but I'm just not feeling my Dalish now, bleh. Like... I want to do a Dalish mage with Dorian, but I've tried to start so many and just end up hating their looks and this one got pretty far (20 hours in?) and now even his face is starting to bug me, aha. I seem to somehow always manage to get their cheeks too puffy and it doesn't show until a few hours in. Blegh.

So, a funny little thing just happened on my Dorn replay: I was talking to the elven healer in Redcliffe, and when I walked up close to her, I apparently got too close to the bucket nearby, resulting in this shot:

I think Dorn's got a bit of a Captain Morrigan Morgan moment going on.

So, good news for PC players... If you're willing to use Cheat Engine, the newest table has a toggle that enables the Inquisitor's armor while in Skyhold. I just used it for the coronation scene with Dorn's replay and I gotta say... It's much more epic than doing it in your pjs:

So after seeing a bunch of people on Tumblr re-making their Wardens in Frostbite, I couldn't resist spending the afternoon recreating some dwarves. Not as they actually looked in DAO, but as I would have liked them to if we had the technology back then.

Brosca. Thinking about murderknifing someone, probably.

Aeducan. Don't let the cute princess looks fool you, she's the tank.

Warden Kader just arrived from Orlais and he does not have time for your Amaranthine bull****.

I feel a bit stupid. There appears to be stuff going down in Orzammar and content if Burkel built a Chantry that enhances a Cadash run. But I don't recall anything about Orzammar beyond the one diplomatic mission and nothing about Burkel. Help?

I don't think the Burkel/Chantry thing actually changes anything. It's just a fun bit of meta knowledge to imagine Burkel's dream coming true when the Herald of Andraste turns out to be a dwarf. :P

The other Orzammar stuff, like the rumors about food shortages, I think happens no matter what race you play. And I know that if you put Harrowmont on the throne as an Aeducan, he declares you dead 'cause he hasn't heard from you in a while.

So I finished the Dwarven Commoner Origin and rather enjoyed it. I liked the sisterhood between my dwarf and her sister Rica and the comradery between Leske and Brosca. The whole carta and proving plot was rather enjoyable as well. :)

It is however taking me more time to get back to the camara angle/play style of origins. :P

Same three dwarves at the orlesian ballroom. Just need to run back and forth between them to trigger the next conversations. Check back after you've done the dance with Florianne, too.

That's an awesome way to get around the cone bra look for the female dwarf. The weapons disappear for these cutscenes, right? Kinda a dumb question, but didn't know how much it toggled. =p

Not a dumb question at all, but technically, no they don't disappear. Normally they appear, but if you're in Skyhold, you can disable the toggle, unequip your weapons, and re-enable the toggle; it's sort of a work-around to get the weapons to be invisible, but not the armor. I did that for the Grove scene in the Cassandra romance to test out the toggle; overall it worked fine, but when they were naked in the scene, the default swords toggled back to appearing because Cadash "equipped" new armor (ie, the naked model). It was kind of hilarious.  I think in the future I'll just leave the toggle off for the romance scene, or try to toggle it off between the fade-to-black, at least. Otherwise though, I've been really happy with the toggle. Makes me able to take my Inquisitors a bit more seriously in Skyhold now. ;P

According to the modders group, one dev gave the impression that the Skyhold pjs is actually a bug, not a design, which honestly makes a lot of sense to me; if that's the case, I wonder if part of the reason they're having trouble fixing it is because they can't easily get ONLY the armor to stay in Skyhold. Makes you wonder why it's not an issue for the NPCs, though...

I thought I read a similar comment about the PJs being a bug, but the poster didn't back it up with a link or a quote so I refrained from passing that on. I hope that gets patched, oh boy oh boy!  (One funny rumor I heard prior to launch was that if you kept the default character name, the NPCs in the game would call you by that name instead of Inquisitor. As far as I know, that turned out to be false. Not a bad idea though.)

Anyway I noticed a neat outfit on a dwarf in the Haven camp and thought that would have been a good alternative to pick from for Skyhold gear. You know, toggle between whatever outfit you'd prefer to walk around in.
